Hey there Greg! The law of the spirit of life and truth has made us free from the law of sin and death. By the law we are made free from the law. Dead to sin...free to marry another...His righteousness! The flesh profits nothing because Jesus condemned sin in the flesh for us. Took it out of the way, as far as the east is from the west. Now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! HOLY

"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous." The passage in Psalm 14 which many use as a blanket to throw over everyone indiscriminately is about the unsaved and rebellious, the disobedient and the fool, the ungodly who take their portion in this life, who deny the LORD and will not hearken to His Word; NOT the obedient Elect!

Son of David; your post was hard to understand: please explain what you mean by, "Who can claim a covenant old or new" and "Faulty thinkers search for salvation before the judgement!" It sounds like you either don't know the Scriptures or are not a Saved Christian Believer! May we help you with some of your questions?
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
The Lord Jesus Christ did infinitely more than just "put Satan in his place!" By His own sufferings and shed blood and death, Jesus broke the serpent's head; "Behold I give you power over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall by any means hurt you..." The blood of Jesus has washed away all our sins and broken the power of sin and Satan over us.
  • Greg ormsbee on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
WAYNE, I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT, BECAUSE IT DOES SAY SATAN CAN FOOL THE VERY ELECT. SORRY ABOUT CAPS HELPS ME SEE BETTER. THOSE WHO BELIEVE ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED BETTER BEWARE IT'S NOT JUST BELIEVING IN CHRIST, SATAN DOES THAT. IT'S TRYING TO LIVE THE WAY HE SHOWED US, DOING THINGS FOR HIM, KNOWING ALL GLORY GOES TO HIM, AN HE SAID HIMSELF THE LAW, IS STILL THERE TO THE END LIKE SIN IS. GOD BLESS
  • Son of David on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
I don't know if anyone can rest upon his laurels,as this world is famously full of wickid players listening to their own council.Who can claim a covenant old or new. Who told you you were absolved without an "if"attached?Foolish man! Faulty thinkers search for salvation before the judgement! Jesus came a light to the world. He survived! He put Satan in his place but did not vanguish him! Peace
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Did not Jesus say "THY FAITH hath made thee whole! Go in peace...and BE WHOLE! Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both SAVE THYSELF, and them that hear thee." What is the doctrine? Is it not the FULLNESS of what Jesus Christ did for us?! The Old Covenant forgave sin. What does the NEW COVENANT do???
  • Son of David on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
If our heart is full and our mind pure, our actions measured, sin is still at the door, and even Peter, warming his hands at the Trial, denied he knew him. Yes, to deny Jesus is the Christ>sin. But to be careless with ones own soul is crazy! The absent from earth Jesus will one day pass judgement but I am sure that self absolving pronouncements are not good enough. The devil will laugh at you.
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
So we are not sinners anymore because Jesus took away all our sin. Putting to death the sinful nature be the renewing of our minds...believing the Truth fully. It is the only way we can be Holy to the Lord. And Jesus gets ALL the credit...not our flesh.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Jim, Randy, read Romans 6 chapter. Will help you understand the sin nature and our freedom from it. Also, 1 John 3 chapter, whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not, whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him neither known Him. No sin in Heaven. If a person continues sinning, they don't Christ. No one is instantly purified upon death. Appointed unto man once to die then judgment. No salvation afterwards!
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Jim; Actually Brother, according to the Scriptures, being "born from above" we are given a new nature, and are being made partakers of God's divine nature! Sin shall NOT have dominion over us! That which before held us in darkness under bondage to sins, has been broken to pieces, and we are set free REALLY! If when we are tempted, we break a hedge, then the serpent will bite; but it isn't final!
  • Jim on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
    Randy,
We are all born into sin, we sin because of our born nature. But Jesus Christ died for all and shed his blood for all and arose from the dead if we believe in our heart this very work Jesus did in our place, we are saved born from the Holy Spirit above (born again) and our sins are forgiven forever. But we still have our old nature and still in this world until Jesus comes again for us.

That s not john 3;16 it goes For GOD so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who soever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Randy; "Shall we continue in sins that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we who are dead to sin live any longer therein?" Jesus came to die on the cross, so we could be released from the bondage and debt of sin, and to REALLY set us free. "NOW ARE YOU CLEAN THROUGH THE WORD WHICH I HAVE SPOKEN UNTO YOU." "He that commits sins is the servant of sin, and the servant abides not for ever."
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Who are those who 'do not sin.....cannot sin'? Paul says if I am partaker of God's grace and am thankful for it, why am I still judged a sinner? Did Jesus take away all of our sin, or are we still sinners?
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
To Randy from 7/25, "What is sin?" Sin is literally, Missing the mark. Sin is knowing to do good, and not doing it. Sin is spiritual error, wandering away, deviation, disobedience, lying. Sin is moral error, foolishness, poor judgment, acting out or speaking (or thinking) so as to give a misleading representation of one's self or his actions; usually to make himself appear good and without blame.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
He that knoweth to do good and doeth it not is sin.
  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
I agree with Wayne! Way to go Wayne! Way of Righteousness!
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Romans 14:23
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
He that commit sin is of the devil for the devil sinneth from the beginning, for this purpose the son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin, forHis seed remaineth in him and he cannot commit sin because he is born of God. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not.

  • Randy on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
What is sin? Is sin 'works of the flesh' or is sin 'unbelief'? I think the Bible says if a man thinks a thing to be sin.....it is sin. So is the 'sin' the thing or the thinking? Are we still sinners because we don't think we are not? Doesn't the Bible say that Jesus took away all of our sins?
    Holy to the Lord?

Be careful who you are following! This country is getting wickeder and wickeder. Only Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, can help!!!
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Vv. 1-3 states only the pure in heart will arrive in heaven. So follow the scriptures and get pure or lose out for eternity.

Verses 17 and 18: If we have the ability to help others out and yet we fail to do so because of greed or indifference, how can we say that we love God? We need to love not only in word, but show that love by our actions.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
    V. 6, Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not, whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him neither known Him.
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Faith works by love, and love works no evil toward his neighbor. If we say we have faith in Jesus, but are still sinning and breaking the commandments, we lie and are not of the truth; but if we keep His commandments we love one another and keep ourselves by His grace and by walking in the Spirit. If someone falls into sins of the flesh or error in doctrine we have a duty to seek his restoration.
  • A disciple on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Randy; it looks like a number of us are concerned how best to answer your very good question; which was, "How can I stop sinning?" The reason I went directly to conversion and repentance, is because that is at the heart of our being either obedient or disobedient; which is where God looks at our innermost thoughts and intents, and whether we call upon Him in acknowledging the truth to get right.
  • Wayne on 1 John 3 - 7 years ago
Hello Randy, just saying Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Some say He's this or that, making confusion. The Father, himself, says This is my beloved Son ,in whom I am well pleased. If The Father states He is well pleased with Christ, His Son, what is man to say that He isn't His Son? One must be careful.
