1Then was Iesus led vp of the Spirit into the wildernesse, to bee tempted of the deuill. 2And when hee had fasted forty dayes and forty nights, hee was afterward an hungred. 3And when the tempter came to him, hee said, If thou be the sonne of God, command that these stones bee made bread. 4But he answered, and said, It is written, Man shall not liue by bread alone, but by euery word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
