Acts Chapter 17 Discussion Page 2

  • From a friend in Jesus on Acts 17 - 4 years ago
I am not concerned about what is referred to as the new world order. The prince of this world has his desired order well planned and in long ago in action. The Bible's warnings are for the believer and those whose desire is to believe.

Many warnings that are often applied to the world should be applied to the Christian's very own personal life and Christian walk. It should be understood that Satan's plan is to upset God's peace in his believers and have them turn from God and believe a lie. Believing a lie is a lie in itself.

Satan and his world is the lie. Many hearts will fail in fear as the times get darker and they will use earthly or worldly ways to try to overcome a spiritual battle. The battle is for the soul not the body. The Body of believers, Jesus's Church and Bride will prevail in peace and understanding.

There are a lot of false Christians and non- believers who stand in the short run to gain by the darkness that is in this earth. We only can pray for them and live as lights of God as a peace witness that the Life of Jesus still lives in his true believers.

One great device of Satan is to blame others for your problem, for your life, for the conditions you face and this feeling of superiority or inferiority is not of God and it will harden one's heart and darken the light upon you. Blaming Satan? This undermines the grace of God! When this happens our self righteousness grows and our eyes are off of Jesus and we will lose peace and grace as the Holy Spirit pulls away and we will need repentance again.

Love your neighbor as your self and Love the Grace of God in Jesus Christ and listen to the still small voice of the Holy Spirit for guidance.

    Carleton,

You can learn more how the people of this world been deceived by Googling my name. We understand you are in Nevada. Well we are a few hours difference as we reside in Nova Scotia.

In the meantime our message remains the same: Ye must Repent and turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18). It means a lot more than saying 'You are Sorry'.

Hi Andy and friends, I gave my repentant experience in detail on this website on July 23 of this year. What is your point?

Our message is according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( John 14:17). Please note the word 'cannot'.

We also invite you to read Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:21,22; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Gal, 4:8 and Revelation 12:9.

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

By nature mankind is born in sin and separated from God. As such mankind is not able to understand the Word of God as the Word is God ( John 1:!). This is the very reason why mankind relies on interpreting the Word of God while it is not of any private interpretations ( 2 Peter 1:20).

It is only through 'True Repentance' that mankind is able to be reunited with God and it is only through 'True Repentance' that God will be able to reveal Himself, and adopt you as His sons and daughters ( Rom. 8:15,23; 2 Cor.6:18; Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5; Hebr. 12:5; 1 John 3:1).

The word 'Repent' in different forms (repent, repentance, repented, repentest, repenteth, repenting, repentings) is mentioned 110 times in the KJV, and means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. The word 'repent' used in the New Testament was translated from the Greek word "metanoeo", and means to change, transform, to think differently or reconsider.

It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

LUKE 15:10. LIKEWISE, I SAY UNTO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTETH.

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and is not of any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20).
  • Carleton - In Reply on Acts 17 - 4 years ago
Please do not underestimate how the Living God in Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit can speak to his believer in any scripture or even one word. As one limits this possibility one is heading for a private interpretation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and heading towards self justification in one's own righteousness. God can speak an entire message to one's heart on an ant's work if he chooses.

Very well said and that is the Word. It's easy to take a few scriptures and make them say what someone wants to hear.

    On ACTS 17:30.

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and is not of any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20).

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( Matthew 7:7; John 14:17).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), as mankind follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).

It is only by revelation of God that people will come to know the true Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1), and only then will you be able to overcome the spirit of this world ( 1 John 5:4; Rev. 3:21) and learn what 'True Repentance' means, and how this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9). It should also be remembered that it is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14).

LUKE 15:10. LIKEWISE, I SAY UNTO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTETH

    Some of my favorites:

John chapter 16 is Jesus preparing his disciples for difficulty, ending with "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (verse 33).

Acts 14:22 is an exhortation to continue in the faith through tribulation.

Romans chapter 8 is Paul's testimony on hardship and the believer's victory in Christ Jesus.

Revelation 2:8-11 is Jesus encouraging the suffering Church.

Revelation 7:9-17 shows us a great multitude come out of tribulation, redeemed by the blood of the lamb.
  • What Can We Get From Reading The Bible - In Reply on Acts 17:11 - 4 years ago
Proverbs is a great Book to get wisdom.

Psalms is about the realities of life: high, low; rejoicing and weeping; regrets and renewal, and much more.

Song of Solomon is a picture of The Lord and his Bride.

The Old Testament history records are about no matter how far you sink and sin; reject God: eventually people realized they must return to God; and God took them back.

It seems when things are going good: we slip back into our old sinful ways.

Lamentations is a heartbreaking book. It shows you how far God goes to bring us back to Him.

I can never understand how easily we can just drop God out of our lives, when it suits us. How do we do that? Do we think that He doesn't love like us; ache when we hurt ourselves.

I'm weird I guess. I could see how viewing movies on Netflix did not edify my spirit. I dropped them and had PureFlix for a time. The process of being entertained disturbs me. That's when I really started reading huge sections of the Bible. One day I made myself read all the genealogies. I'm asking what does this teach me? God knows everyone who has ever lived! He keeps it all written down. He knows us; we aren't invisible like we feel sometimes in a crowd or standing in line at the grocery store. He's as close as you let Him be. I never cry alone. He's with me watching clouds, or sunsets. I adore rain because I see the flash and hear the thunder and to me... it's me hearing his sound. We need more God consciousness. You can have as much as you want. No limits. He will show you Himself in the world as much as you can see Him in his written Word: the Bible. Dive in, get wet, splash it on someone else. Maybe that's how we share it with those we love? Experience the love of our Savior. I cannot define the depth of His love. Lean into Him. That's all I can say. Mishael

Terry, that's wonderful that you desire to help a dear one in this matter. As you know, most of the Bible gives the 'tonic' required to overcome our daily struggles in life, whether in the physical, emotional or spiritual realm. But I understand that you are actually looking for Scriptures that just demonstrate what a person goes through in life. The only real pertinent portions I can think of, relate to actual peoples' concerns & struggles within, so I offer the following:

    a. King David. In many of the his Psalms, he writes of his anguish, loneliness, fear of the enemy, his heart-cry over sin, and the guilt he struggled with because of it. We also see his huge grief in the loss of his son ( 2 Samuel 12:15-24). See also Psalms 38 & 42 for various expressions of sorrow & despair. You can see many of his other Psalms. He was well acquainted with grief.

    b. Elijah. 1 Kings 19:1-14. We see him fearing for his life as well as a lot of self-pity.

    c. Jonah. Jonah chapter 4. He is an angry man, disobedient & selfish.

    d. Job. Job 1 & 2. As you know, here is a man who lost everything: his family, servants & animals. He then was physically afflicted with boils. Chapter 3 shows some of his grief as well as other chapters as he talks with his 'friends' & God about what he is going through.

    e. Jeremiah. Also known as the weeping prophet, Jeremiah suffered from constant rejection by the people he loved and reached out to. God had called him to preach, yet forbidden him to marry and have children. He lived alone, he ministered alone, he was poor, ridiculed, and rejected by his people. In the midst of it, he displayed great spiritual faith and strength, and yet we also see his honesty as he wrestled with despair and a great sense of failure. Jeremiah 20:14-18.

I hope that as you read these portions, & if you can read as much about the person as possible, you will learn how many of these notable folk suffered a great deal inwardly for an extended period of time.

All the Jews believed the resurrection OF the dead. However, it was the resurrection FROM the dead which proved Christ as the Son of God. And without this resurrection, our faith in Christ would be in vain 1Cor 15:12-19.

Because only males have the Y chromosome, the genes on this chromosome tend to be involved in male sex determination and development. Sex is determined by the SRY gene, which is responsible for the development of a fetus into a male. However; Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath; they die, and return to their dust. Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth. ( Psalm 104:29-30)

"And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?" ( Zechariah 3:1-2)
  • Tom on Acts 17:26 - 5 years ago
No matter how one reads it, whether "one race," "one blood," or "one family," the meaning is the same: all men are descended from a single ancestor, Adam. Adam named Eve as the "mother of all living" ( Genesis 3:20); and the proof of this is evidenced by many things, one of these being the ability of a man of any race to provide a blood transfusion for a man of any other race. Though types may appear the oneness and brotherhood of man are affirmed in Acts17:26; and this was a principle far above anything the Greek philosophers ever dreamed of. Of course, the physical oneness of all men is the unity in view here as in Galatians 3:28; "There is neither Jew nor Greek/ neither male nor female:"

Hear christian! Christ taught us not to be afraid! He told Philip, Believe in God. Very simple clear speech. The Holy Spirit has included Pauls acts, to warn us of The obstinancey of the human nature. Paul goes to the heart, directs our vision, and explains the relationship of the Father through creation, that He will judge the world in truth and righteousness.According to His mercy He saved us by the complete sacrificial atonement found in Christ. Acts 4;12 His boldness is evident, the holy spirit strengthening him. Don't be afraid Christian! His only begotten son .

Acts chapter 17 it s talking about these Jews who have turned the world upside down saying that there is another king, one Jesus like today with false pictures of Jesus it troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. And when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came to stirred up the people.

Rise Again: TO COME BACK TO LIFE: When Jesus Rose from the Dead, He Comfirmed His
Identity as the SON Of the Living God, and His finished work of Salvation. He Rise Again: Death could not keep Him in the Grave. He had power to lay His Life down: and Power to take it up again.

Paul preached to these in his day out of the old testament for that was all they had, the new was being wrote. He preached and taught from passages like Isaiah 53 and Psalms 22 23 concerning the death and resurrection of Christ it was all prophecy when wrote but now Paul can preach it in the past. The prophets wrote that Christ would rise (again) future but now its past tense. Fulfilled prophecy..
