Such wise words, Carlton.

The Lord has warned us that everything that can be shaken will be shaken. That includes anything that is in this world!

In our country, we have had decades of uninterrupted prosperity. At times in my life, I have not had very much of this world's good - and have had a tiny, tiny taste of 'poverty'....but it has been nothing of the destitution that others face in other parts of the world.

Therefore, what a shock it will be for the unprepared to go through what is coming on the face of the earth, for we have put our security and confidence in so many temporal things!

Jesus, Who cannot be shaken, will be the ONLY ONE standing when all of this is said and done--therefore, those who have both feet of faith firmly planted on Him and Him alone will be the only ones who will be found standing before Him on that day.

Let us all use this time to pray that we gird up our loins and have grace to endure! Praise the Lord!

This issue cannot but be on the minds of true believers who are following the Lamb.

It has been my observation for quite a while that when I've tried to find a church - instead of finding Christ exalted, I find, over and over and over again - the church exalting itself!!

There is all kind of talks about how great the church is, how great the pastor is, how great the youth ministry is, how much 'giving' is done to the missions program, how great the choir sings, and on and on and ON!! But....NEVER talk about how great JESUS is!

The church is a candlestick alone. Christ is the true Light.

The church is supposed to hold forth the Head, Jesus Christ! How perverse when the church holds forth itself!

Oh let us walk humbly with Jesus, and follow HIM WHEREVER He may go! Help us to do it, precious Lord!

Thank you for your reply, Marke. What I wrote, believe me, I wrote with such groaning in my heart and spirit. Some days I have such heaviness, such sighing, such crying.

For any true believer, to see our Lord's lovely name used in vain, to see His Word twisted, to see eternal souls so deceived - there is nothing else but to be sad and grieved unto prayer.

Mixed with that is a holy fear! ONLY God's grace and His grace, and mercy and power ALONE makes me to differ from anyone else! How I pray now for that amazing grace to keep me to the end and carry me over the finish line of my race!

We don't. Read the comments of the history behind Easter. I've been in certain church congregations that observed the day a remembrance for Christ having risen from the grave.

Now, similar to Christmas -- I'm not going to be legalistic on this but the pagan origins are the reality. When modern churches celebrate it, it's piggybacking off of the traditions from the early Roman Catholic church. Here's what we should be doing: we should be celebrating the death, resurrection and ascension of Christ every day of year. If you're born again -- you're risen in Christ daily. If it's just a calendar day to assimilate to traditions of man; then we've missed the entire point of being born again and sanctified.

Easter, a name for the celebration of Ishtar, the Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility and sex. After Constantine decided to Christianize the Empire, Easter was changed to represent Jesus. But at its roots, Easter (which is how you pronounce Ishtar) is all about celebrating fertility and sex.

Depends, The Kingdom saints were to pray the our Father and follow that pattern, but we, The Body of Christ Saints are to simply make our requests known to God and the peace that passes all understanding shall be ours. How would you make your requests known to your Father?

Dear "Resa", i actually kind of agree with you. It probably started as a spring feast and sum sum arium became the crucifixion of the Lord Jesus. Wikipedia probably has some good words about Easter, and Christmas.

Now we know that Easter is also a time for reflection and salvation. For us Christians, Easter is a central holiday. Where we thank and worship the Lord Jesus for whatever He may go through and save us humans.

In peace, i mention to you that you are trying to blame us Christians for doing pagan things. Absolutely not! We follow a law of regulations enacted by high lords of the Vatican.

Simple words to encourage her & simple truths, without any graphic details may be best. Right now you all are also teaching Isabel, faith, overcoming grief, strength, love, family, & more lessons than you realize.

Hello Randall. More recent Bibles (e.g. NIV, NASB, RSV, etc.) do not show this last part of Romans 8:1 ("who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit"), as they take their translations from other Codices, such as Sinaiticus & Vaticanus. Whereas the KJV is translated from Textus Receptus (Received Text), which may not be as old as the others, but textually more accurate & reliable throughout. However, in Romans 8:4, we read those same words appearing here, & these are found in all the Manuscripts.

Jesus said we are the light of the world. Does light speak or reveal?

Many Christians here in the US have known financial prosperity, both a blessing and possible peril. Our prosperity can make us less dependent on the fellowship of like minded believers and more dependent on continuing to establish an earthly kingdom. Our pilgrim and stranger status is forgotten while our earthly rights are enhanced by certain leadership choices. Do we not want in due time a peaceful departure into eternity? Do we want to leave behind an imbalanced witness of our profession of Jesus as the Lamb of God who saved our souls and gave us peace or our methods of operational worldly interests? What is the value of our salt? Can we be the quiet of the land? Can we by the grace of God be stewards of worldly goods as though we have them not, this kind of stewardship brings a peaceful way and a quiet and happy life even in tribulation.

Here is some extra meat regarding amen, it is the same word as verily. Many times Jesus spoke using this word when teaching, likewise we can speak with him as he speaks to us through His Word. Praise God!

Matthew 6:9-13 and a slightly abridged version in Luke gives us Christ's instructions in HOW we ought to pray. We have the honor and praise to God (fulfilling the First Commandment); and an example of seeking His Kingdom first and His will to be done-then asking for our daily provisions; forgiveness of sins (commission/omission) as well as forgiving others; asking to not be led into temptation; and being delivered from evil; and once again acknowledging God's authority (yours is the Kingdom; power and glory). Our prayers therefore are encapsulated in us verbalizing and meditating on God's authority and Holiness.

This by no means should be a ritualistic prayer. When we look at it; there really isn't any miraculous manifestation asked for in terms of healing; casting out demons; etc. But it needs to be the foundation of our lives so that our testimonies are genuine and we are living not for ourselves but for God. Clearly; we are NOT to pray as James states to satisfy our lusts ( James 4:3). There are times when we need to say God help! and clearly in a crisis life and death moment that may be enough. Trust in God's provisions despite external circumstances AND that the works that He has for us from before the beginning of the world ( Ephesians 2:10) are two major factors in a good prayer life. Obviously; discipline to listening to His voice; spending quality frequent quiet times in prayer and the Word are helpful as well. It is helpful to understand His will and also to rest in the fact that we have a High priest ever interceding for us ( Hebrews 7:25); and Romans 8:33. We all see through a glass darkly; but should seek to grow in maturity and wisdom.

Between the close of the Old Testament, was 490 years of silence from Heaven.

Then in Matthew and Luke, we see it is time for Jesus to come into the world.
