Discuss Acts 17 Page 6

    Hi David,

I say that due too what I form studying Classic Theology on who God is. The Scripture state tat God is in need of nothing. He is perfectly complete within the Godhead. If He had need of something, then that which He needed would demand a necessity outside of Himself. Everything God has created is not needed by God.

Paul, in Athens, stated "God, who made the heavens and the earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands, Nor is He worshipped with men's hands, as though He needed anything since He gives all life, breath, and all things."

    Acts 17:24-15.

God chose to create the world and all who live upon it out of His benevolence and goodness, by volition, not because He needs us or needs someone to love. There is infinite perfect love within the Godhead, therefore, no love can truly be added to Him or taken from Him. We, and everything He has created could very well be a possible not-have-been by His volition. But He cannot be a possible not-have-been. His existence is within Himself, therefore He is ever-existent.

The theological terms I am speaking up is God's simplicity, completeness, self-existence, and self satisfaction. You can google these terms and read more about it and the Scriptural basis for these things. I encourage this.

    Thanks for asking.

7 Excellent Rules for Knowledgeable Bible study!:

    1) Let ALL things be done Decently and In Order! 1 Co 14:40

    2) Study ALL Scripture Rightly Divided!:

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth!" ( 2 Timothy 2:15)

    3) Never add to or take away From God's Holy Word! Deu 4:2, Deu 12:32; Rev 22:18,19

    5) Build Sound Doctrine, God's Way!:

    a) For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little! Isa 28:10

    c) Compare ALL Related Scriptures to learn and know a specific doctrine!: Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but Which The Holy Ghost Teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual! 1 Co 2:13 {Comparing Scripture With Scripture!}

I especially like verses 27-28 "that they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from everyone of us, for in him we live and move and have our being, as certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring"

In reality, people looking for God is a little like a fish in a river looking for water, we are literally immersed in and made of God (being his offspring). The notion that we, or anything, is separate from God is an illusion, a little like a wave on the ocean believing it is separate from the ocean. A wave can not be separate from the ocean except in the mind of a person, in the world of words and thinking. Neither can we be separated from God, except in our minds. Let go and let God. When were were born into this world, we felt (knew) we were connected to everything in our world, we felt (knew) the Truth of "in him we live and move and have our being". As we have aged, our perceptions and world experience have changed and allowed us to believe that we (and others) are somehow separate from God. This is an illusion and why Jesus taught that unless we "be converted and become as little children, we shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven". Being converted here simply means a change (conversion) of consciousness, we must see and experience the world as we did when we were children, when we realized that we were not separate from the world, or anything in it, in order to enter "the kingdom of heaven"

Jesus is God. He's part of the Godhead. Romans chapter 1. When he was being tried by the Pharisees, He said: I and my Father are one.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us" in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

Jesus is returning sooner than we all think. Matthew 24 and Luke 21 give us specific signs to watch for. They will increase near the end of days

Something else...this world we call home is going to pass away. We know that it's going to end and be renewed to what God created in Genesis. Before we polluted it and destroyed it with greed and technology. 2 PETER CHAPTER 3.

No sense in trying to save it now as Biden dreams he can with boatloads of tax money. God promised never to flood the World again. But it is going to burn up. It already is beginning. See, beloved children, IT IS NOT GLOBAL WARMING. The earth is responding to the WORD OF GOD.

It's coming apart now: forest fires, worldwide droughts, polluted ground water from human belligerence; continent sized floating islands of garbage in both hemispheres. Earthquakes and Volcanos, floods: with increasing intensity. FAULTS once thought long dead will become active. As the end wars are fought, we'll see space objects hit earth, our cities. Food will be used against us to force us to take THE MARK OF THE BEAST, ANTICHRIST. One world currency will be forced on us next. One world religion. Individuality, no more.

    Take the Mark=DEATH

    Take Jesus=LIFE ETERNAL

Thanks for your response Adam, it is insightful and thoughtful. I have a few disagreements though. In regards to the definition - isn't our behavior influenced by either a submission to God or a submission to our flesh? James 4:7. Romans 8:6-8. I have yet to find a psychological theory about behavior that refers to God's word & sin and not worldly/secular explanations that are unbiblical. Doesn't it matter that psychology was heralded by people like Wundt, Freud, Jung, Skinner - all people who denied the Lordship of Jesus and were unbelievers? Matthew 9:17-18.

Positive thinking was started by Phineas Quimby who hypnotized people. He believed that the body was a reflection of the mind and all illnesses were a result of false beliefs. He had conversations with Mary Baker Eddy (Christian Science founder) and influenced her to believe that 'right thinking' in accordance with scripture could cure any ailment. I don't think that 'positive thinking' can be aligned with the word of God.

Philippians 4 says 'by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving', not by 'positive thinking'. I believe Matthew 6:34 is in relation to submitting to God and trusting in Him, something atheists do not do. It was not meant to just say "don't worry about tomorrow" (which would be worldly wisdom) but "trust in the Lord" which is Godly wisdom. I would argue that psychology says "trust in yourself" and the bible says "deny yourself", two viewpoints which are incompatible.

I would say counseling is good as long as it is biblical. Shouldn't everything center around the Lord and His word? If you talk to a counselor and they do not point you to the bible and Godly wisdom, the only other option is they are pointing you towards worldly wisdom. The bible says we have a heart issue, not a mental issue. Jeremiah 17:9-10.

1 Corinthians 1:18-25. Acts 17:10-12. I think everything needs to be tested against scripture.

Thanks for the discussion Adam, I appreciate you.

Precious friend, Naresh. You do realize reading and studying are two different things? I would suggest "reading" to be 3-5 (or more, IF you wish...) chapters a day and that will take about a year to "read" the Whole Bible (KJV). This is good so that you can "...live By EVERY Word That Proceedeth Out Of The Mouth Of God." ( Deuteronomy 8:3) ( Matthew 4:4) ( Luke 4:4)

For life-long "studying" I recommend starting With: "What God Is Doing Today, Under GRACE, And Specifically WHO HE IS, And HIS Salvation For us," found in Romans Through Philemon, KJV, prayerfully And Carefully, and study According To The Following Bible "study" Rules: ( 1 Corinthians 14:40) ( 2 Timothy 2:15) ( Deuteronomy 4:2) ( Deuteronomy 12:32) ( Proverbs 30:5-6) ( Revelation 22:18-19 KJB!) ( Acts 17:11) ( Isaiah 28:10) ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) ( 1 Corinthians 2:13)

The Best "Interpretive" Commentary On The Bible Is The BIBLE Itself!:

NEVER ever interpret The Many Plain Scriptures by the "few" difficult verses, But, ALWAYS Always Interpret the few Obscure/Difficult/Dubious verses By ALL Of The MANY Plain and Clear Passages Of God's Pure And Holy Word!

    Finally:

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do ALL to The Glory Of God!" ( 1 Corinthians 10:31)

Naresh, hope this helps on your reading/studying journey, and saves you from a lot of Confusion of the enemy...

He was first to give birth to His creative work & by definition, entitled to be pre-eminent with highest honour & rank over all. And by virtue of His Death & Resurrection, the first to bring Deity & humanity together in one, i.e. to His Church, as He is now in the flesh as well.

Therefore, I would rather think that it's not the "DNA of Christ" that is in all atomic matter, but His Spirit Who was in Him & now given to those who call upon His Name. As we know, our composition is spirit, soul & body and that spirit has, since the fall, been devoid of any attachment to the Spirit of God. Yet, it is to that same spirit of man that the Holy Spirit attaches when re-birth has taken place. Then what we read in Acts 17:28, given to the unsaved Athenians, finds its perfect fulfilment in Romans 8:1, 1 Corinthians 1:30, Ephesians 1:3, etc., where once we were just the "offspring of God" receiving life & breath from God, but now, through Christ the firstborn of His Church, we receive spiritual life & the ministry of the Deity in manifold ways. I can't see that His 'DNA' is in all living creation, which after all, have been created from dust, but His Spirit is given to those coming to Him via the Cross.

I can agree though with your last paragraph concerning "the Lamb being slain from the foundation of the world". What was in God's Will to occur, will occur, & can be treated as fact even before they happen. Christ's crucifixion was real in God's Plan & became a physical reality at Calvary. Thank you Leon for sharing your thoughts.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

    John 10:30

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are without excuse:"

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel

    Matthew 1:23

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."

Jesus came to bring to each born again believer; the baptism and the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit.

    [ Genesis 1:2, John 3:6, Acts 2:1-3,

    John 16: 7-15]

To REFUSE this knowledge, is to reject the Son of God, and his provision. Read all those scriptures before you decide. Jesus doesn't brainwash anybody. Ask His followers.

Anything that is not Truth__is a LIE. We know who the Father of Lies is (Satan).

Lie is the name of a demon. Reading this is going to seriously disturb "it". If you tolerate its presence, it will let others come inside too. Matthew 12

You need to get on YouTube and watch THE AUTHORITY of the believer in Jesus Christ. All of them.

You need to say, The Blood of Jesus has made me whiter than snow. Isaiah 1:18.

Fight this. Rid your house of any contamination: books, alcoholic drink, pharmaceuticals, the Holy Spirit will show you.

    Acts 17:26

And hath made of one blood all nations.

Every single human being, no matter what their race or nationality, all came from one person. Everyone has the same blood.

    And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

God has everything planned. He is sovereign.

    Hey Pastor Ronnie,

Let's examine some verses here in context and you can see some of my answers on Adam's post.

REVELATION 3:19 --> "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."

First of all, this is a letter to the CHURCH. People who are saved already. They are not told to repent of sins, but rather to turn their ways around. This is the Church of the Laodiceans which was lukewarm: neither hot nor cold. They are divided in what they say and they don't have any stand. They say they are rich and need nothing but in real sense they are poor and miserable and blind and naked! Jesus is telling them to repent (to turn) from saying false things to saying truthful things.

ACTS 17:30 ---> And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:"

It just says, "REPENT" and not repent of your sins. Paul was in Athens and saw a lot of idolatry. He saw that they have altars to all their gods and another altar written, "to the UNKNOWN GOD" in v.23. He tells them, "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things; (v. 24 and 25) What are they to repent from? They should repent from thinking that God dwells in temples made with hands or thinking He is worshipped with men hands or thinking that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device(v.29) and to worship Him in spirit and truth.

1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins...". Confessing our sins is not the same as repenting of sins. Confessing is admitting that you are a sinner, because in the same chapter v. 8 it says, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." Whereas repenting is to turn form what you are doing wrong (sinning) to do what is right.

REPENTANCE NOT NEEDED FOR SALVATION - ONLY BELIEVING

You can believe what you want to, but here are some more scriptures that you have left out? Matthew 3:2 ( And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.)

    Luke 13:3

I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

    Matthew 4:17

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Acts 17:30

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

    Revelation 3:19

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Acts 3:19

    Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

There is a lot more! Matthew 5:19 (Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.)
