    V. 16 - " ... and that th'ot upon His name." To 'think' upon His name is to DO everything in His name. Whenever we converse with others by letter, phone, our work, etc. to ask God in Jesus name to bless it. Even some sinners know this as is shown in Acts 19:13. And, of course, baptizing in water is 'doing' something, Acts 2:38.

I believe Satan is the author of confusion, GOD is not the author of confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33. As also in all his epistles Paul's letters to the churches he established in the BOOK OF ACTS , speaking in them of these things, in which are hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest twist , as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 2 PETER 3:16. These letters were established in the Book of ACTS on PAUL'S missionary journeys. Study to shew thyself approved unto GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15. Acts 19:1-6. REMEMBER ALL SCRIPTURE IS BY INSPIRATION OF GOD! 2 Timothy 3:16. Read Ephesians 4:5, Galatians 1: 8-12.

We must be baptized in water in the name of Jesus to be saved.😇 I know this because I was raised in a traditional religion that said all you have to do to be saved is believe. Sorry , I can believe I am a grasshopper but does that make me one . Amen

Demetrius didn't care about true worship, he was concerned with how the Christian teaching would affect his money.

Acts chapter 2 is a continuation of John the Baptist's baptism see Mk 1:4. That's why they had to be re baptized in Acts 19 because they had his baptism Acts 19:4. Acts transitions from the law to grace. You don't receive the Holy Ghost like that today, you receive the Spirit through faith see Gal 3:14. After the Jews rejected Christ in Acts 7 Paul is saved and God goes to the Gentiles Acts 20:28.

The devil knows Jesus and Paul because Jesus and Paul put him on the run : cast him out : Who are you speaks of those who try to mimmick those that have excerised power over the devil and could not , because they were not close to Jesus.
  • Mickey hall on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
What does this mean. Jesus I know Paul I know but who are you.
  • Nene on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Read all of Acts 2 hear and see for yourself it says all how many times not some but all God Bless u all.. I spoke in tongues just crying out for help and the next thing I know I was speaking in another tongue but it was a little scary moment but I felt like so clean

  • Cher on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Yes it is another language and should be interpreted. Everything is orderly with Yahweh. He also lets us use a prayer Language for our prayers which is tongues we use privately in church or out loud if we are alone praying.
  • Lucinda Palestrant on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Acts 19:1-6 is in the context of God giving the disciples that Paul is talking to,the gift of tongues and gift of prophesy after they were baptized of the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching to people that speak different languages. This verse does not tell us that everyone that was a believer and baptized receiving the Holy Spirit was given the gift of tongues.Be not deceived.
  • Melissa k on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Yes, you are speaking other languages the Holy Spirit has entered your body you're directly to the Lord. The reason it is in many languages is that no one will understand or she'll understand your personal conversation with the Lord The Lord will at times have a translator approach you and tell you what you're speaking or answer to what youhave spoken and when that happens it is amazing
  • Teresa on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
I have a question when it talks about speaking in tonges, does that mean other languages?
  • Bright cobbinah on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Paul suffered alot at the hands of ephesians. I think i support with paul that god made by hands are not god. Those who worship it are out of light, no matter how the circumstances paul win thier heart through God with safety without any harm.

Cont...after Acts 9 Saul began preaching the truth and Saul was called Paul in Acts 13:9 filled with the Holy Ghost, he preached thru all the books of Acts u will find him making the same statement as Peter made in Acts 2:38 over in Acts 19:1-6 being baptized in Jesus Name. Blessing
  • Sandy on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
Amazing how these things are still an issue today. If people would read the scripture, they would see that Gods plan is playing out just as it is written. People, PLEASE GET SAVED REPENT AND GET RIGHT WITH GOD! THERE IS A HEAVENLY REWARD FOR THAT!
  • Andre Alexander on Acts 19:19 - 10 years ago
I don't agree with Fedlis Akobo's comment that the price of the books were uncalled for as I believe it illustrates that it didn't matter the cost, they were prepared to do whatever it took to illustrate their genuine repentance.
  • BABULYA Wilson on Acts 19 - 10 years ago
In reference to Acts 19:26 , it surely wrong to bow down for images made of human hands in whatever sense. Like one time I visited friend and we left for prayers but when we approached the place of worship, at the gate was a giant image. He bowed the head spoke silently...and we proceeded. I didn't pick why did so...

Paul's statement here in verse 8 " For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:", does not negate, cancel out, or make null and void our need to be baptized in the name of Jesus in order to receive forgiveness of sins, as he shared with the disciples of John the Baptist he met in Acts 19:1-6. In its proper context here, Paul is pointing all glory back to the one who made salvation a possibility for us who were dead in our trespasses and sins. Simply put, Christ didn't have to become the sacrifice and if he did not, there would be nothing that we could ever do to change our eternal destination. However, because he did die and paid the price for our sins, in the book of Acts, when the disciples, on order from Jesus were confronted by people needing salvation they always spell out quite clearly and simplistically what one must do. 1. REPENT 2. BE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF JESUS 3. RECEIVE THE IN-FILLING OF GOD'S SPIRIT EVIDENCED BY SPEAKING IN OTHER TONGUES AS HIS SPIRIT PROVIDES THE WORDS. These instruction that were given by Peter with the eleven Apostles in agreement , Phillip, Ananias, Paul, ect. in the the book of Acts.
  • Wisani Maluleke on Acts 19:20 - 10 years ago
It simply tells us that the word of God contains power, and such power should be excavated through the studying of the scriptures
  • Butch on Acts 19:5 - 10 years ago
In Galatians 1:12. Paul said he receaved his revelation from Jesus Christ, verse 17, neither did he go up to Jerusalem to the apostles before him. So u will see in acts 19. Paul preached the same thing the other apostles preached, baptizem in the name of Jesus Christ, and the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2 is the birth of the church. Peter stood up with the eleven other Apostles, including the new one. Matthew was present when Peter stood up to preach just as he was in Mathew 28:18-20 which says the eleven was the ones being spoken to. Note: Eleven Mathew did not pull Peter 's Coat tail and demand Peter to cease this Jesus Name Water Baptism. 1 Mattew was pined some 20 years after the events of Acts 2. 2 Acts 2:38 was preached as written for more than 40 years in the Act 's history of the church. 3 Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-7 Paul clearly preaches the same message of Jesus Christ. Repentance, Water baptism in Jesus Name, Baptism of Spirit. Water Baptism was deluted with doctrines of Rome and of men in the 2nd and 3rd century. All records bible and history state that the Apostles agreed on the method and mode of Water baptism in the Name of Jesus up until about the 2nd and 3rd century. It is clear that this was and still is the True Good News of the Founding True fathers of The Early Church!

hebrews 9chap 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. After Jesus death, john 3:3 is enforced. Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. acts2:38..water and spirit... acts 19:5..john 's disciples, were re-baptised, in Jesus ' name and then received the holy ghost... acts 8:6 ...ethiopian received ..water and spirit.... acts 10:48 ...italian received ..water and spirit...and spoke in tongues. while the bridegroom was with them....mark2:10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins. hince, situations like the thief on the cross. but , Mark 2:20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them.
