  • Paul on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
    Joshua,
There's more to accepting the payment for our sins; you have to turn from sin and ask God to deliver you from the desire for sin and He will give you the Holy Ghost which enables you to live holy everyday.
  • Glen on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Uhhhh yes it does...Jesus himself said to repent and be baptized everyone of you for the remission of you sins.
  • Toby on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Really Vicky go to a Pentecostal Church. That is what you got out of the verse? God is only one, that is what you think. The Father son and the Holy Spirit sounds as though there are three to me. Three distinct personalities that form the Godhead. I will agree that you should read your Bible. Maybe we all need to get back to what the word says and not what we think that it says.
  • Joshua D on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Verse 21 says "And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." It doesn't say whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, and be baptized, and attend an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. If you read the entire New Testament it doesn't even say you HAVE to be baptized to go to heaven. There are verses that speak of baptism as being an important step of faith, but not a requirement for heaven. The man on the cross with Jesus was told by Jesus himself that he would be with him in Heaven, and he was never baptized or attended an Apostolic Pentecostal Church. While baptism is important to the Christian life, and attending a correct bible preaching church is what God wants for our life (not a denomination preference, but a right church) the ONLY key to salvation and heaven is accepting Jesus' payment for our sins. Read John 3:16, Romans 5:8, Romans 10:9-10 and Romans 13, and none specify anything other than belief in Jesus as our savior. Baptism, church membership and daily bible reading and prayer are vitally important parts of Christian life, but the only key to heaven is Jesus himself.
  • Sis Vicky on Deuteronomy 6:4 - 15 years ago
Yes! He is 1 not 3! Jesus is Lord of all. The name above all names. Read your entire Bible. Get baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins ( Acts 2:38). Ask him for the Holy Ghost and you shall receive it! Praise the Lord!
  • Sis Vicky on Acts 2:38 - 15 years ago
Jesus, the name above all names! You must be baptized in the name of Jesus. God is one, not 3. Be baptized in his name and get filled with the Holy Ghost! Worship in Spirit & in truth. Read your ENTIRE bible and go to an Apostolic Pentecostal Church.

  • Stephania on Acts 5:30 - 15 years ago
WHAT I THINK ABOUT ACT 5:30, THE TREE IS REFERED TO A TOTURE STAKE. AS Acts 2:23, Acts 10:39 and galation 3:13 also shows that the tree was a stake. And the stake was like a stick pointing straight up(l) so Jesus died on a tree not a cross. Even if he did die on a cross as Exodus 20:4,5 and Jeremiah 10:3-5 shows that it is a commitment of idolatry if we crave any image of heaven like or Earth like creatures as a protection or anything that stands for God. And 1 Corinthians 6:9,10 shows that anybody who commit idolatry will be no part of God's kingdom.
  • Jundaguit on Mark 16 - 15 years ago
mark 16:16 is a very specific requirement that even a child could understand without making it harder not unless it is twisted. a very simple command to follow and to do. IT IS INDEED SALVATION FOR ALL OF US WHO BELIEVED IN THE NAME OF THE SON OF GOD AND IS COUPLED WITH THE BAPTISM OF WATER IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST AS CITED IN ACTS 2:38. THE HOLY GHOST CONFIRMED THIS STATEMENT THROUGH SIGNS THAT FOLLOWS BY EXERCIZING THE POWER THAT GOD HATH GIVEN. IN THE ABSENCE OF THESE THEN YOUR FAITH IS NOW IN DOUBTFUL AND DANGER SITUATION WITHOUT SEEKING THE TRUTH THEN SATAN IS THE BENEFICIARY. REMEMBER SATAN ALSO TEACHES THE GOSPEL NOT UNTO SALVATION BUT UNTO DECEPTION AND MANY OF SUCH IN OUR PRESENT TIMES. MANY WERE ALREADY DECEIVED AND STILL KEEP DECEIVING.
  • Ann on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
I know that this chapter gives to mankind the only formula to be born again. What must we do? Act 2 verse 38 tells us. Please obey it.
  • Tonika C on Revelation 3 - 15 years ago
Chapter 3 ends with the last three churches of Asia. And this chapter begins with the church of Sardis, this church had lost there spiritual zeal, and Jesus was telling them to be watchful and strength the things which remain, what He was meaning is that they need to wake up and get it right, get there spiritual zeal back, because losing that is like commiting spiritual suicide and it's really no different from commiting natural suicide, your spirit is slowly dying, and when you lose your zeal you really die out, and you really dont want to be around spirit holy ghost people, because you would rather be at home or in a carnel position with unbelievers, so that's what I got out of the church of Sardis. The next church was the church of Philadelphia, and I really can admire this church, because this is the only church that did not recieve rebuke, because thru all that they went thru they stayed steady and consisted in there walk with the Lord thru all that they went thru they stayed firm thru great persecution, this congregation remanined faithful to the Lord, and I would love to be like this church, I know in the past I have not always been like this church, but now I know that I have the opportunity to be like this church if I really want to. This is the last church, the church of Lacdicea, now this is the church that I definetly do not, refuse to be like. Jesus told this church that He would rather for them to be hot or cold, than to walk around lukewarm (hypocriteing) He said that He will spue you out of His mouth, now would we rather walk around hot or cold, or to walk around lukewarm so Jesus can spue us out of His mouth. it is such a blessing that God gives us a choice and does not make us do anything that we don't want to do, God really wants us to to hot (on fire for Him) but he is not making us be hot, but God said in His word 2Pet. 3:9b The Lord not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But even with the scripture, somebody has to fulfill everything in the word, so everybody will not be saved going to the scrpiture Matt.20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last, for many be called but few chosen, thats because the bible has to be fulfilled, but rememeber we all hove a choice, what choice will you make. Acts 2:38 gives it all to us, Go find a church that is preaching and teaching the truth, the bible way no adding, subtracting, divivding, or multiplying just the raw word in Jesus name. be blessed.
  • APOSTOLIC FOR LIFE!! on Acts 2 - 15 years ago
Jesus is the visibilty of Gods personality. If Jesus is not God then he(Jesus)is the greatest imposter to ever walk the face of the earth. John 12:42 Jesus cried and said he that believeth on me believeth not on me but on him that sent me. And he that seeth me seeth the one that seen me!!
The oneness of God is air tight you better get it right before Jesus comes!!!
  • Stan Hatcher on Matthew 28:19 - 15 years ago
What do I think? After being saturated in the subject for over thirty years, here's what I have learned: (From Matthew 28:19)
Soon after Jesus arose from the dead, He met with His disciples and commanded them with the words we read in the verses above; commonly referred to as the Great commission. Clearly, it is through the process of baptism that disciples are made. Question: were the disciples to process people from the standpoint of their already being “in” the name of the Godhead, as the translated preposition “in” would suggest, or, something else? Translating the Greek word “eis “to read “in” would appeal to the question “how”; where translating it to read, “into” would solicit the question, into “what”. If the Greek preposition “eis” was translated “into” instead of “in” like the original text suggests then we would find that Jesus was indeed, telling His disciples to process people “into” the family name of the Godhead.

Some Denominational leaders argue that the phrase; “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” is a formula, while others try to assign a given name to each, or a single element of the Godhead. Believe it or not, there was a time in our history when people were dipped three times; in each name respectively. What is interesting to note is that the Bible is silent as to what the name is/are; so why guess? Seems to me that knowing the name is not what’s important as what our being processed into that name accomplishes.

It should not be a hard to believe that the process of being baptized “into” the name of the Godhead creates an immediate change in status of citizenship ( Eph 2:19). More than anything, it establishes kinship and family, communion and fellowship, the very thing that Jesus came to restore.

A name is simply an abbreviated totality of anything we see or can perceive through one of our senses. The Name “God” is an abbreviated totality of Who and What He is; it encompasses ALL of Him. This applies to all people and things as well. Jesus is the Name God gave to His Son; it defines who and what He is to and for the world; the Holy Spirit is the Name ascribed to the invisible part of God in whom all His Power is resident and Father is the Name taken by the One who begot Jesus and us through Him. In this one Name, He has combined all of the Names He was known by in the past. One final thought; a name is inseparable from the person or thing it is ascribed; they are one and the same.

Once the process of baptism is complete, one becomes authorized to function as a disciple. Through the instruction handed down by Jesus, disciples would become, not only devoted followers of Christ, but able to carry-on with the perpetual task of bringing Jesus to the Nations. Once baptized, we are joined is an affinity with God and His Kingdom.

    Baptism in action:

    Acts 2:38-39
Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in (epi = upon) the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

    Acts 8:16-17
For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in (eis = into) the name of the Lord Jesus.

    Acts 10:48 (ALSO: Acts 19:5-6, Rom 6:3, 1 Cor 12:13, Gal 3:27)
And he commanded them to be baptized in (en = in) the name of the Lord.

So, in the final analysis, people are baptized “into = eis” Jesus, “upon the basis of = epi” His Name by one who is already “in = en” the Name of Jesus, having authority to implement the process.

If you are saved through your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ reconcile Mat. 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. You cannot read even one verse that through faith your soul be saved. But many verses to save our soul is a work individually to obey the words of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faith and good works through his words equal salvation. Verses to prove that individual/your own work are the foll.: Exeq. 14:14, 14:20, Exeq. 18:27, Acts 2:40, Philip. 2:12 & James 1: 21-22.
  • Frenz on Genesis 2 - 15 years ago
This is where God commanded Adam And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Before I begin let me say that God hath made 7 dispensation meaning God made different time of salvation and for every time, there was salavtion as I explain thru the knowledge of God wherein God commanded Adam to freely eat all the fruits in the garden, but the tree of knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day you eat of it, you will surely die.

So man disobeyed God when they eat the fruit of good and evil they died on that day because 1,000 years is ONE DAY FOR THE LORD. But before God remove them from the garden, He didn't let them go out without changing their dress, God put them with a SKIN OF ANIMALS which is the SKIN of the LAMB, THE TYPE AND SHADOWS TO COME, meaning this is where God will take place his salvation to mankind. The SKIN OF THE LAMB represent the BLOOD OF CHRIST to be SHED UPON (Heb.9:22) Without shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.

The Skin covering of Adam & Eve representing what God will do to remove the CURSE (DEATH) which came into the world by ONE MAN, and so SIN entered the world, and DEATH passeth to ALL MEN, for ALL HAVE SIN. ( Romans 5:12) We are all BORN SINNERS IN THE SIGHT OF GOD ( Psalms 51:5) There is none righteous, no not anyone in the sight of God. ( Romans 3:10)

The only solution for this CURSE that we INHERITED IS THRU RECONCILIATION BY OBEDIENCE THRU GOD'S WORD, THRU IMMERSION BY BAPTISM IN WATER IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF OUR SINS, AND YOU SHALL RECEIEVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. ( Acts 2:38-39), wherein you will clothed with Christ, and we will be buried thru his death thru baptism, that is why Galacians 3:27= All have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Because there is only ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, and ONE BAPTISM (Ephessians 4:5) There is only ONE GOD and he is the ALPHA, the OMEGA the BEGINNING and END ( Revelation 1:8)
He is the IMAGE OF THE INVICIBLE GOD ( Colossians 1:15) He is the ONE True GOD that was manifest in the FLESH ( 1 Timothy 3;16) He is the True God and eternal LIFE ( 1 John 5:20) And He will be SOON COMING IN THE CLOUDS FOR HIS BRIDE (The Church) Titus 2:13) ( Matthew 16:18-19) For there is no other name in heaven whereby we must be saved ( Acts 4:12) He is the messiah that the Israelites until now still waiting for Him to come, but doesnt understand this Messiah is already came back to heaven in His throne as God Spirit ( John 4:24) To God be the glory in Jesus Christ name, amen.

    Godbless you all

Jh. 8:3-11 The woman was taken to Jesus for judgement. Jesus said go and sin no more. You mean no one can obey this command, Jesus is so merciful saying this word if no one can obey. For ex. of a father righteous in this world, He will not command his 4 years old son/daughter to bring 5 gallons of water in a can, since he knew it is heavy. Our God also cannot command to his people that we cannot do. To enter into the kingdom of heaven is dual. Faith to the Lord Jesus Christ heartily & faith to his words. I would not deny that faith alone can saved. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us an example to the one on his side also hanging on the cross whom he has given a promised to enter into the kingdom of heaven. After that promised he was dead, so nothing bad works or evil thoughts he can do again because his body is dead. Not like us, to compare the faith to one of the robbers because we are alive, so after receiving the Lord Jesus Christ by faith, our evil thoughts, evil eyes was there and also of being a liar. To erase this we have to work and practice to follow his words and ask him for help and pray that all our bad works will be clean before his judgement. We know we are all temporary here,so why not we prepared on that day to come. There are so many verses to support that salvation of our Soul is individual/own works and not by faith whereby many believers was deceived. Old test. Exeq. 14:14, Exeq. 14:20, Exeq. 18:28. New test. Acts 2:40, Phillip. 2:12, 1 Tim. 4:16, & James 1:21-22. Our God will judge to our works whether good or bad. Our God will not judge to our faith to him. But God judge us is based in his words. Supporting verses: 2 Cor. 5:10, Ecclesias. 12:14 & John 12:48.

I disagree your comment that my writing is in a logic way, because it is clearly stated and supported with verses of the bible. They are the writings of the prophets and apostles of what is the characteristics of God or what he is to be watch of to believe. In John 1:1- the word was with God. Yes, do not limit the power of our God. Did you know through his word the universe was created. So, the word was with God. John 1:14- the word was made flesh. In your owned understanding the son delivered by Mary's is God?. In Mat 1:21- Mary's bring forth a son name Jesus and not the named Jesus Christ. The word Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God - 1 Cor. 1:24. No human being bring forth the power / wisdom. Acts 2:36- God made Jesus both Lord and Christ. If your understanding in Mat. 1:21- Mary's is the mother of God, all the characteristics numbers 1 to 8 contradict to your conclusion. Luk. 3:22- is same to Mat. 3:16-17-These verses are literally spoken. These verses was not talking of what is God is?. Easy to understood that all person baptized by John the Baptist only Jesus has the Holy Spirit descended from heaven like a dove upon him. Gen. 1:26- God is alone because in the old testament, many verses we can read God is one. One verses to sight in Zechariah 14:9. In the new testament/Good news God is only one in John 10:30.

Doctrine of baptisms, plural? Let's first notice; v. 1 encourages us to go on unto perfection, not continue to be hung up with foundation principles, such as "doctrine of baptisms". I feel I have found 7 different substances to be baptized, immersed into, to be absorbed by or overwhelmed with), referred to in the Bible. Israel was baptized unto Moses ( 1 Cor. 10:2). Baptism of repentance (change-over from old to new) (Matt.3:6). Baptism into the Body of Christ ( 1 Cor. 12:13), Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Matt.3:11, Acts 2:4, 8:14). Baptism of fire ( Matt. 3:11), Baptism of suffering (Lu. 12:50, Phil. 1:29). Baptism in any other name ( 1 Cor. 1:13). Also, some denominations use the term "Baptized into the visable church, which does not seem scriptural. Some of these are symbolic water baptisms and some not. "Laying on of hands" seems to be in the "Going on to perfection" category but we shouldn't be satisfied with just talking about it.

Just to be sure that I understand you, Aaron: are you saying that some of the about 120 disciples that were there in the house in Acts 2:1-4, were the resurrected saints from this chapter? I just want to ensure that I know what you mean.

Yes the name of my God is Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the only name under heaven given among men where by we must be saved. Please understand that we can not seperate God from His Word nor His word from Him(God). God was manafest in the flesh..God came unto His own..all things where created by Him (God) and for Him (God)..Jesus Christ. If the Holy Ghost is not god then Jesus is not the Son of God...the Holy Ghost overshadowed Mary...If the Holy Ghost is not God..Then is the Holy Spirit God..? Yes..yes..yes..yes.."God" is all in all. There is no other God but "One". Jesus is that name for us today that speak the English Language..One God not three.

The new name of our Heavenly Father is Jesus Christ. In the old testament our Heavenly Father has many names. The following names are Yah-weh, Jehova, Holy God, Jealous God, Father God, I am who I am. To prove that the new name of our Heavenly Father is the name Jesus Christ through the prophesy of the following prophets : Isaiah 62:2 - shall be called by a new name, Zechariah 14:9 - in that day shall there be one Lord and his name one. In Malachi 1 : 11- my name shall be great among the Gentile nations and one is the Philippines who believed to the living God, the name Jesus Christ was so great to all the Gentile nations who believed God. This name also in the time of Apostle Paul the name Jesus Christ is so great in Acts 19:17. Then in Rev. 3:12 - says the I will write upon him the name of my God, and my new name. To those who opposed / argued that the new name of our Heavenly Father is Jesus Christ. Then, they will give the new name of our Heavenly Father ? or what is his name ? The word Father is not a proper name or a given name. The word Jesus Christ is a proper name but the word Father is a common name or common noun. So the name name Jesus Christ is the new name of our Heavenly Father. To those who against the name of the new name of our Heavenly Father must have to write or reveal the name of their Heavenly Father also?. In Rev. 2:17 - a new name was given and only those who received his name knows him. Jesus Christ is the new name of our Heavenly Father.

Correction for anonymous comment.... FATHER (GOD-YHWH) is same with his SON (Jesus Christ) They are both God, but Jesus is NOT the Almighty God nor the Father is the SON whom manifested in flesh... In ( Prov. 8:22-31)(Gen.1:26), We will see that there are TWO CREATOR mentioned ... And in Jn1:1-3 (( In the beginning was the Word(wisdom/SON), and the Word(Wisdom/SON) was with God(FATHER-YHWH), and the Word(Wisdom/SON) was God.The same was in the beginning with God. All things(ref. PROV.8:22-31) were made by him(FATHER); and without him(Wisdom/SON) was not any thing made that was made.)))) If you have question you can fallow us at THE OLD PATH OR ANG DATING DAAN...See you!!!!

The meaning of salvation is someone is in bad condition/situation and then in turn became to a good condition/situation. There are many ways to receive salvation. For example in material things: salvation from hunger, salvation from accident & sickness. In Spiritual things, there are also many ways to receive salvation: 1) 1) 1Cor. 9:21-22- salvation to those who have no knowledge, continue to Rom. 10:3, 2) Eph. 2:8&9- salvation through faith. this kind of salvation is that our sins was saved. Ref. verses: Mat. 9:2 & Acts 10:43. This kind of faith is not a guarantee to enter into heaven. 3) James 1:21-22 - salvation of our soul. This is a guarantee to enter into heaven. If your soul is pure, perfect, holy & blameless. 4) Rom. 5:9 - salvation from the wrath of God, because this world will suffer various destruction. There are verses to support salvation of our Soul is individual/own works and not by faith where are many believers was deceived. Ref. verses: Acts 2:40, Philip. 2:12. 1Tim. 4:16 & James 1:21-22. I love the word of God. Luke 24:47-49 and Acts 2:38 & 39 are one and the same, agree even with Mat 28:19 and 20. Jesus (Iesus)is the English translation for(YHWH)God has became our salvation or (YHWH)God salvation & Emmanual(Immanuel) means With us is God(YHWH). What has that to do with anything ? God's word created the heavens and the earth and all things there in (Gen). In John we see: In the beginning was the word and the word was with God(YHWH) and the word was God(YHWH)...and the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father)..Looking at Jesus in the correct light you see God(YHWH)of the old covenant & the new covenant. For God(YHWH) was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself. God(YHWH) has no blood, he is a spirit..it takes the shedding of blood for the remission of sin..( Heb 10:5).. When he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:..

Pam's, the word Christ cannot be brought to any human being. Even if we used our common thought of understanding w/out basing the bible our God created the human being and then be brought to his creature? You will never read even one verses in the new testament that Christ is the son of Mary but so many verses you will read that Christ is the son of God. There are verses in the bible to remind us for what is God is. Read Num. 23:19, Hosea !!:9, Isaiah 43:10, Malachi 3:6, Jh. 3:6, 4:23&24, Luk. 24:39, 1Tim. 1:17. These verses are the characteristics of our God to believe, so that the Holy Spirit will enlighten us in our study. In 1Cor. 1:24, Christ is the power & wisdom of God. No human being will brought power & wisdom. In Mat. 1:21 Mary's bring forth a son name Jesus and not the name Christ because this name as I said is the power & wisdom of God. The name Jesus who of God is made unto refer to the verses, 1Cor. 1:30 & Acts 2:36. For easier understanding to our worldly knowledge the name Peter, was brought to a lady. Then, Peter became a Lawyer, so Peter be called Attorney, Peter. The word Attorney, was not brought to a lady. This is his knowledge/title & power to counsel. This wwrd Attorney is the same to the word Christ was not brought to a lady. read Mat. 1:16. Additional information the New Name of our Heavenly Father is the name Jesus Christ. In the old testament there are so many names of our God. Ex. Jealous God, I who am I, Holy God, Jehovah, Yahwee.

If my Salvation was found in Acts 2, I would be in a mess. We as gentiles (non-Jews) had no access to God until the nation of Israel was broken off because of unbelief. Israel was Gods chosen people hince him sending his disiples but unto the jews only, hince Jesus Christ when asked stated that he was sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. There was no salvation by Grace in Acts 2. They were still observing the Law, where is your temple to sacrifice? I thank God I am made the righteousness of God by the simply believing & recieving the gift of Gods grace its not dependant (my salvation)upon what I do, but what he did. My relationship might change based on my works, but never my position as a son of God.
