Discuss Ephesians 4 Page 8

    Hello again,

    Part 2

Colossians 1:15-18 says: "He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn over all creation. For by Him (Jesus) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him (Jesus) and for Him (Jesus). And He (Jesus) is before all things and in Him (Jesus) all things consist. And He (Jesus) is the Head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He (Jesus) might have pre-eminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him (Jesus) all the fullness should dwell, and by Him (Jesus) to reconcile all things to Himself (Father), by Him (Jesus), whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His (Jesus;) cross." (NIV)

This verse speaks to the deity of Christ. He has always been the Son of God, the spiritual divine eternal Image of the Father in Whom all of the fullness of God dwells. The Son of God (the Father's Image) was with the Father and the Holy Spirit in the beginning ( Genesis 1:1-2) when ALL things (other than the Godhead) were created. The Godhead created all that is invisible and visible, spiritual and material through the Son.

Also, within the Godhead, that Father willed that the Son would be the Person of the Godhead to redeem mankind from sin and reconcile us to God through the shedding of His (Jesus') blood in the sacrifice of death on the cross.

This verse does not say that believers are changed from human into the divine image of the Son of God (Who has always been divine). We are changed into the glorified, perfect image of the Son of Man (Jesus' humanity)

Ephesians 4:- 4-6 says "There is one body, and one Spirit, just as you are called in one hope of your calling' one Lord, one faith. one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (NIV)

Sister GiGi, I agree, it's very hard to convey all that needs to be said without being in a face to face discussion.

    I have a question?

    Romans 8:29

    1 Corinthians 15:49

    Colossians 1:15

The word says Jesus is the image of God, his Father.

Ephesians 4:6 There is one God and FATHER OF ALL ...

If he's is your father, as he is Christ Father, why would you not be the exactness of his first son.

We were predestinated to be the image of Christ. He is the firstborn of many brethren.

Do you believe you are going to continue as you are now, or do you believe you are a new creature (creation) in Christ.

As we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall bear the image of the heavenly.

God's will be done in the sickness of you mother. My prays are with you and your family.

Concerning your three sons; we both know the promises of God; PERFECTION, we just don't know the time frame.

    God Bless you!

    Wise guy:

If the Holy Ghost is not Christ, then Christ would not have have had to leave, in order for the Holy Spirit to come.

Christ had to leave, because he is the Holy Ghost.

Christ's SECOND COMING is as the Holy Ghost, poured out on man at pentecost.

Colossians 1 :27 ....This mystery ..... Christ in you ....

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT ....

Man, including Christ, is this ONE BODY.

A body has to have LIFE.

The LIFE of the BODY is this ONE SPIRIT; God is Spirit and LIFE.

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (Life) that WORKETH IN YOU (the body) both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

    God Bless You!

Sister GiGI, I don't want to speak for Alex; but I believe he is saying that the Father chose Christ as THE ELECT, the image of himself.

And the Father commissioned his elect (his son, Christ) to go and give creation the INHERITANCE of HIMSELF.

Before the foundations of the world were laid we we PREDESTINATED to be conformed, by Christ, in the form of the Holy Ghost, INTO his likeness. The Holy Ghost is Christ, a MAN, existing in a glorified BODY.

Every time a believer comes to this truth they are also the elect, being made ONE with truth.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT.

Man, including Christ, is this ONE BODY.

Man, the body, cannot exist without LIFE.

LIFE is this ONE SPIRIT, and this Spirit is God, the Father.

Man receives everything from the FATHER, and CHRIST (Holy Ghost) is the MAN that MEDIATES this inheritance.

It's a gift of God, through the workings of the Holy Ghost.

    God Bless You.
  • Grow up from the Milk to the Meat of Gods Word - In Reply - 3 years ago
When a child is very young, they can only consume milk. Foods with more substance are beyond them; they can only process something specifically meant for infants. In the same way, those who are spiritually immature can only deal in simpler spiritual matters. This is not bad, when a person is a new convert. However, if a person remains in this state of spiritual infancy, when they should have grown enough to handle more solid spiritual "food," then they have only themselves to blame ( Ephesians 4:11-15). According to the writer of Hebrews, his target audience is going to miss some of the deeper meanings he will describe ( Hebrews 5:11), since they are "dull of hearing." In this context, that "dullness" means laziness and apathy.

Just as a child has to be trained to grow beyond milk to eating solid food, so too must a Christian's spiritual maturity grow through effort and experience. The prior verse used the term apeiros to describe these spiritual babies, meaning they are inexperienced or unskilled. Spiritual maturity has nothing to do with age, since it's possible to remain an immature Christian for a long, long time. Rather, maturity involves developing the ability to put our faith to practical USE.

In the context of the book of Hebrews, this has everything to do with making a purposeful effort. It requires that a person "pay much closer attention" to the faith ( Hebrews 2:1). It means Christians are to follow God's will without fear and without disobedience ( Hebrews 4:11). Maturity requires that a person learn to use our greatest spiritual tool, the Word of God ( Hebrews 4:12), in order to aid our discernment. The end result, according to this verse, is a person who can distinguish between good and evil. This is about more than just moral dilemmas-it's also a reference to knowing the difference between truthful, godly teaching and worldly, false faith.

It is also producing the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

    Erich:

    What is DISOBEDIENCE:

Is it not, not believing what God says.

    Not believing is disobedience.

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD that WORKETH in you TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Most DON'T BELIEVE these WORD'S of God.

Do you believe that everything being done, IN YOU and BY YOU, is God's will and is God's work.

Isaiah 10:5 O Assyrian, the rod of my anger, and the staff in their hand is my indignation.

Isaiah 10:6 And I WILL send him against a hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath WILL I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and tread them down like the mire in the streets.

Isaiah 10:12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed HIS WHOLE WORK upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I WILL punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

Isaiah 10:13 For he saith, by the strength of MY HAND I HAVE DONE IT .......

God didn't punish the king for stealing, raping the women, dashing the children against the streets, and killing men:

He punished him because he thought HE DID IT instead of UNDERSTANDING it was THE WORK'S of GOD through his hand.

    TRUTH:

We are the vessel; Christ is the LIFE, TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Not believing these words causes us to walk in disobedience.

The sins of the flesh are covered by the blood of Christ; NOT BELIEVING his WORDS keeps us from being ONE.

    MATTHEW 19:28

Matthew 19:28 ....in the regeneration when the son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory ......

    What does this mean:

The regeneration is when you are BORN AGAIN OF SPIRIT (TRUTH).

Colossians 1:27 ...this mystery .....Christ in you .... the Holy Ghost in you ......

The Body is a vessel that ONLY HOLDS; the Holy Ghost, the LIFE of the vessel (our body).

.....When the son of man (the Holy Ghost) shall sit in his THRONE OF GLORY.

Our Body is the THRONE OF (his) GLORY, when we agree with THE WORD, that the LIFE that we now live is the LIFE OF THE HOLY GHOST, that we are ONLY the vessel that hold THE LIFE ( Philippians 2:13).

As Christ, in the form, of the Holy Ghost is IN US, judging us, and bring us to truth.

We will be the likeness of Christ, in the form of a ministering spirit (the Holy Ghost), judging the world (the twelve tribes of the Israel of God), bring them to truth (grafting them into the root; THE LIFE).

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY and ONE SPIRIT.

David, In the Old testament we see numerous occasions of the appearance, as a man, of THE ANGEL OF THE LORD.

Christ is the ANGEL OF THE LORD. Above all angels, he is the archangel Michael.

This is a mystery because he can be inside you as the Holy Ghost, or walk in the flesh as a man. His ministry on earth was in sinful flesh, exactly like we have now; but he was resurrected with the same glorified body that he existed in, with the father, from NO BEGINNING.

    Angels are God's messengers.

Malachi 2:7 ...for he is the messenger of the Lord ....

Malachi 3:1 ....even the messenger of THE COVENANT ...

John 17:21 ...that the WORLD MAY BELIEVE that thou hast SEND ME.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY ....

You are the body of Christ.

Moses was the body of Christ.

A mind of FLESH (Satan, lies, deceptions, falsehoods) rules our body (of Christ).

When Christ rebukes Satan (lies, deception, falsehoods) he is bring HIS BODY (us) into subjection to TRUTH.

Mosses, with his mind of flesh, didn't think he was up to the task to be a god ( Exodus 7:1) over pharaoh, Christ rebuked Mosses (Satan, lies, deception,,]falsehoods) and caused him to have knowledge of the TRUTH, Mosses was only the BODY that contained the Spirit of Christ, who would be the god over pharaoh.

Matthew 16:23 ...and he turned, and said unto Peter, get thee behind me, Satan ...

A mind that is OF THE FLESH is in direct opposition to the MIND OF CHRIST, therefore a MIND OF FLESH is ANTI-CHRIST, or a mind of Satan, lies, deceptions and falsehoods.

At the time Mosses and Peter were rebuked, there was a war for their BODY, Christ through the WORK of HIS SPIRIT, cast out the one (Satan, lies, deception, falsehoods) contending for their body, which is CHRIST BODY.

Christ rebukes Satan, our mind of Flesh, controlled by lies, deception, and falsehoods, and we become a new creation, with the mind of Christ, learning that we are the BODY that contains the Spirit of God, who WILL BE the god over this world.

    Hello,

1 Corinthians 13:5 - the end of this verse about love (charity) basically means love keeps no record of wrongs. This is all we need to know to discern that keeping lists is wrong: both mental and physical lists.

Hebrews 8:12 - shows that God does this for us, he remembers our sin no more.

Ephesians 4:32, Ephesians 5:22 - we're to forgive others as God has forgiven us, and support husbands.

What you described seems contrary to scripture and I would feel so deeply hurt if someone did that to me. It would feel like an enormous betrayal of trust. It sounds like you followed bad advice and badly hurt your husband and that it has never been resolved. It's the elephant in the room day after day, but you haven't even discussed it since? If you don't want to talk to your own husband about the #1 thing in your life, how will you ever even handle any other problems in life? In a way I would feel like some of the wedding vows would have been violated by this, if it were me.

That's great that you're seeking scripture and input from others as clearly this is weighing on your heart and you already know what is the right thing to do to try to save your marriage.

    God bless...

Very interesting question. Only God can forgive sin; but we are told to "confess our sins to one another". ( James 5:16). We are told to reconcile with a brother before "offering a gift before the altar" ( Matthew 5:24). If we bear unforgiveness in our hearts; then the effectiveness of His grace is stunted; for the woman who put the perfume on Christ was forgiven much so she loved much ( Luke 7:47).

All of us individually are accountable before God. We can forgive "seventy times seven" ( Matthew 18:22); and Ephesians 4:32 indicates that we are to forgive others even as God has forgiven us. If we don't forgive others then God won't forgive us according to Matthew 6:14-15. This wouldn't necessarily indicate that we are nonbelievers; but if we don't bear fruit "worthy of repentence" ( Matthew 3:8-10) then we have to seriously test ourselves to see if we are in the faith ( 2 Cor. 13:5).

So the short answer is that God can only forgive others if they are wanting forgiveness. Each of us is judged individually; and since we are not God we don't have the authority as Christ did to forgive sins as the Pharisees stated only God can forgive sins ( John 20:23). Confessing our sins to one another can allow transparency so that the Lord can possibly speak a word of wisdom which in turn gives someone a better understanding of themselves; as well as clearing up what can be a stone wall in relationships ( Prov. 18:19). The best we can do is a formulaic process to give a partial assessment of sins in others as only God knows the intentions and motives of the heart even if the Spirit gives us a glimpse into such things. It is the same as asking can we save anyone by "confessional regeneration". The words are only effective if God grants one repentance first ( Acts 11:18; etc). Indirectly then; forgiving one another allows God to repair the sin or estrangement with Him.

Sister GiGi, you are correct when you said God is spirit.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE body, and ONE Spirit .....

Ephesians 4:6 One God, and Father of all, who is above all, and through you all, and IN YOU ALL.

WE do not have LIFE apart from God.

LIFE can't be seen because it is Spirit, and no one has seen God.

John 14:6 .....I am LIFE and TRUTH .....

What is the only thing left when we PUT OFF THIS BODY of flesh.

    SPIRIT, which is LIFE.

John 3:6 That which is born of flesh (man) is flesh (man); and that which is born of SPIRIT (GOD) is SPIRIT (God).

GOD is LIFE, FAITH, TRUTH, MERCY, WISDOM, COUNSEL, UNDERSTANDING, ETC.

Luke 16:4 The disciple is not above his master: but everyone that is PERFECT WILL BE AS HIS MASTER.

You are made PERFECT when you depart this body of flesh, because the only thing that is left is LIFE AND TRUTH.

1 Timothy 6:16 Who (the MASTER) ONLY hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto .....

1 Corinthians 15:53 ......this mortal shall PUT ON IMMORTALITY ......

Only Christ has IMMORTALITY, only Christ is LIFE, DWELLING in the LIGHT.

    Thanks Brother Adam.

2 Timothy fits perfectly, Certain teachings derail the Gospel.

And this particular message renders the crucifixion as NOT an act of Love. No one is perfect in their Doctrine because of our ignorance, that's why we continue to grow until we come to a full knowledge of the truth. Ephesians 4:13.

But when one say he already have that full knowledge in these earthy bodies but yet their Doctrine don't line up with none of Gods word, so they spiritualize ALL of scripture.

    I don't believe that's innocent ignorance. I believe that's demonic.

Because the result of their Doctrine makes clear scripture looks as if it was lies.

    Hey Debbie B.

There may be several opinions on this, but does the bible tell us where He was? Jesus said He would be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, Matthew 12:40. And He said He would be killed, and after three days rise again, Mark 8:31. One theory starts with 1 Peter 3:18-22. Looking at the context of the chapter it is about doing good and refraining from evil and it is good to suffer for righteousness to have a clean conscience.

If we look at these verses Jesus was put to death in the flesh but quickened by the Spirit. Jesus was raised from the dead in a glorified body and the same Spirit of Him that raised Jesus will raise those who have Christ in them Romans 8:10-11.

Jesus went and preached to spirits in prison who were disobedient in the days of Noah. As far as I know nowhere in scripture is man or saints called spirits, or the dead be in prison, I may be wrong. Why would Jesus only be preaching to those before the flood? The only ones I know that scripture says are in prison in chains of darkness are the angels who left their first estate 2 Peter 2:4 Jude 1:6. In the verses, there is nothing to indicate a time frame in which Jesus did this.

My understanding is Jesus was in the grave/tomb until His Father raised Him on the day of the Feast of First Fruits on the first day of the week before the sun came up. There is more scripture like Ephesians 4:8-10 that you can study for your understanding, keep in context of the entire chapter with an open mind and led by the Holy Spirit.

Some believe that while Jesus' body was in the tomb, His spirit was in hell.Scripture doesn't support that position when it is taken in context and we look at the meaning of the word "hell." In the Old Testament, the place of the dead or the place of departed souls was called "SHEOL." It was to this place that all souls of the dead went to await resurrection.

In the New Testament, we find the story of Lazarus and the rich man who both died and went to Hades ( Luke 16:19-31). The KJV translates the Greek word "HADES" as hell but most other translations use the Greek word. HADES had two separated parts: Those who died in faith believing in God's promise waited for the resurrection in Abraham's Bosom. Those who died spiritually separated from God wait in torment for the resurrection unto death, eternal separation from God. The rich man was on the torment side and Lazarus was in ABRAHAMS BOSOM which was called "PARADISE" by the LORD Jesus Christ himself when He addressed the thief who found faith the day Jesus was crucified ( Luke 23:42-43)

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment ( 2 Peter 2:4). The word translated "HELL" here is not the Greek word "HADES" but is the Greek word "TARTARUS" meaning ABYSS or the lowest regions. This could very well be the gulf that was fixed between the PLACE OF TORMENT and Abraham's Bosom ( Luke 16:26).

Wherefore He saith, When He ascended up on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that He ascended, what is it but that He also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that He might fulfill all things( Ephesians 4:8-10). Leading captivity captive seems to refer to Jesus taking all those that waited in PARADISE to heaven to be with Him. The descending into the "lower parts" then refers to Jesus mission of declaring Victory

    Hey Raymond,

We see this in Matthew 17:1-9 Mark 9:2-10 and Luke 9:28-36, some may believe Moses and Elijah were in heaven and came and appeared, Jesus took Peter, James, and John up to the mountain, He was transfigured before them and Moses and Elijah appeared talking to Jesus.

If we take note of what Matthew writes, "And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead"

It was a vision and a confirmation from God to these three that Jesus is the Son of God and the Law and Prophets will be fulfilled with the death and resurrection of Jesus. Mark 9:10 another place that shows things were hidden from the apostles until the Holy Spirit brought remembrance to them of what things Jesus had told them, John 14:26.

One other thing, Jesus is the Firstfruits of them that slept, 1 Corinthians 15:20. Jesus was the first to be raised from death Acts 2:24. No one has ascended to heaven, John 3:13 and no one will overcome death until Jesus returns on the day of redemption, Ephesians 4:30.

In my understanding of scripture to us today, Moses and Elijah are awaiting the resurrection, with no knowledge or time in death, to them, it has already come.

    God bless,

Ephesians 4:4 ONE GOD, and FATHER OF ALL ......

Man is only the body (or vessel) of THE SPIRIT. Of yourself you can do NOTHING.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind (renewing your mind to TRUTH) be IN YOU, which was also in Christ Jesus

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of GOD (a body holding ONE SPIRIT), thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD.

There is only ONE LIFE (SPIRIT, GOD).

You are only the vessel that holds that LIFE, when your body dies, only LIFE and TRUTH remain.

You are instantly in the presence of God, because you HAVE been BORN AGAIN by the TRUTH of God's word.

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (SPIRIT, LIFE, TRUTH) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Colossians 1:27 ... this mystery ....Christ in you .....(the body)

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT ....

Ephesians 4:6 ONE GOD, and FATHER OF ALL .....

Every man has his being in this ONE SPIRIT, although most haven't come to this TRUTH, YET

    Spirit is Life and Truth.

John was not the reincarnation of Elijah, but did the WORKS OF GOD through this One Spirit, this One Power, just as Elijah did; John came in the Spirit of Elijah, but that Spirit is God.

You have you being in this One Spirit, and when this One Spirit wants you to do something, you also will be like Elijah and John and everyone else BORN OF TRUTH.

Philippians 2:13 For it is God (Spirit) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his pleasure.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT ......

Ephesians 4:6 ONE GOD and FATHER OF ALL ......

God is Spirit, Spirit is God, no one can see Spirit, therefore no one can see God.

God (Spirit) is all things that can't be seen: life, faith, love, truth, wisdom, counsel, understanding, mercy, obedience, light (not physical light), ETC.

God wanted all these things to be seen, so he created a BODY, and he placed the FULLNESS of himself in that BODY.

That BODY is CHRIST; that holds the FULLNESS of SPIRIT (God), all of GOD, life, love, faith, truth, ETC. can be seen in Christ. Christ said if you have seen me you have seen my Father.

Christ, is ONLY THE BODY, for he said, the words you hear are not my words, but my Father's words, the work's you see are not my work's but my Father's works, of MYSELF I (the body) can do NOTHING.

We were given that same BODY at Christ resurrection; therefore we must say the same thing as Christ, its not my words you hear but my Father's words, it's not my works you see but my Father's works; of myself I (the body) can DO NOTHING.

Philippians 2:12 For it is God (Spirit) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

He does the same thing in Christ. It's just that Christ knows this TRUTH, therefore he was without sin.

Ezekiel 36:27 And I (Spirit) will put my Spirit IN YOU (Christ), and cause you (Christ) to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements and DO THEM.

Through TRUTH we are being created in to the exactness of Christ, (A BODY) that holds the FULLNES OF SPIRIT.

Hello Roberta. Not knowing the exact nature of the matter or conflict between you & your granddaughter, I can only share some verses for you to look up & take to heart. I hope that they will minister to you both at your points of need. You can hover over the Scriptures with your mouse/pointing device or look them up in the Bible (also given here on this KJBO Site).

    James 4:10; Ephesians 4:31,32; John 15:12; Romans 12:9,10; Philippians 2:3,4; Colossians 3:12-16; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7; Ephesians 4:2,3; Galatians 5:22-26; John 13:34,35 (given to re-emphasize John 15:12).

Interesting question. There is the verse "be angry but don't let the sun down on your anger" ( Ephesians 4:26). This basically means not to harbor grudges; and have righteous indignation. The laundry list of BAD fruits ( 1 Cor. 3:3; Gal. 5:19). Later on in that same chapter; Paul brings up the GOOD fruits; these would include love, joy and peace, kindness; patience etc. Only joy may be considered to be an emotion; so that it would appear emotions generally are not helpful as controlling agents in our lives. True joy comes from the Lord; we can have this in the midst of persecution; and we are asked to be this way when we are persecuted.

( Luke 6:22-23). We are; in fact to be "happy". Now; there are only 3 options for this; we are sadists and like suffering; or we are lying in saying this; or we are living in the Spirit. We are told to "rejoice when others rejoice; weep when others weep." ( Rom. 12:15). This has to do with aligning our will with obedience in serving the Body of Christ.

In general; when we look at the behaviors of all unregenerate men shown in scripture; we see the downfall due to emotions getting the better of people. We; of course have Christ who showed compassion; and on at least 2 occasions he ransacked the Temple due to jealousy for the House of Prayer which was made a den of thieves. This was prophesied in Jeremiah 7:11 and listed as an event in 3 of the Gospel accounts. We also see God laughing at the calamity of the wicked ( Psalm 2 and repeated in several other passages). God has been shown in scripture with seemingly impulsive anger in Exodus when Moses acted to intercede His wiping out all of Israel; and yet He held to the Covenants made with them. He returns to judge in Armageddon; as prophesied in Isaiah 63:3 He tramples the winepress in fury and anger. God's wrath against the wicked is ongoing; continual and eternal for the unregenerate. We do well to live for His Kingdom and conform our emotions accordingly.

Ray, man is a BODY made from dust.

God is LIFE, God is SPIRIT, therefore Spirit is life.

    Job 34:14 If he (SPIRIT) set his (Spirit's) heart upon man, if he (Spirit) gather unto himself his (God's) spirit and his (God's) breath;

Job 34:15 ALL FLESH shall perish together, and man shall turn again into dust.

Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that the Lord is God of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands,

    Acts 17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he GIVETH TO ALL life, and breath, and ALL THINGS;

Acts 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations to dwell on the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation.

Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY (the vessel that holds life) and one Spirit (the life in the vessel)....

Ephesians 4:6 One God and Father OF ALL, who is above ALL, and through ALL, and IN YOU ALL.

Hebrews 12:23 ... and to the spirits of just men MADE PERFECT,

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (LIFE, TRUTH) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

We are just the vessel that holds God (Life, Truth). Life and Truth cannot die, so when this body of flesh dies Christ gives us HIS BODY. We are joined in union with Christ.

1 Timothy 6:16 ...Who only hath immortality .....

1 Corinthians 15:53 ... and this mortal must PUT ON IMMORTALITY ......

    Hi Wendy,

Pray to "God" there is only 1 God, and he knows who he is!

    Ephesians 4:6

"One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray he responded:

    Luke 11:2

"And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth."

Jesus asks us to pray to the God the Father, in His Jesus name:

    John 16:23

"And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you."

    God Bless.

Originally I wrote a post saying that trying to show that "shall be made alive" in 1 Corinthians 15:22 is more than just physical resurrection may be trying to prove too much. But I was wrong.

The word translated "shall be made alive" zoopoiethesontai is derived from a word that is used in the New Testament for being resurrected or quickened to eternal life. Here are the other passages that use derivatives of this word:

    John 5:21

    John 6:63

    Romans 4:17

    Romans 8:11

    1 Corinthians 15:36

    1 Corinthians 15:45

    2 Corinthians 3:6

    Galatians 3:21

    1 Peter 3:18

This word cannot mean life common to all men living and moving and having their being in Christ, nor can it mean simply resurrection to either eternal life or the second death. Under this meaning I am persuaded that the word "all" in 1 Corinthians cannot be an unlimited universal "all" and in both instances where it is used in this passage it is limited by the words "in Adam" and "in Christ". "In Christ" appears to be used in this passage by Paul in a similar way to the way he uses that phrase and the phrase "in Him" in Ephesians.

    Ephesians 1:2-4,7,10,13,20

    Ephesians 2:6-7,10,13,20-22

    Ephesians 3:6,11-12

    Ephesians 4:32

This also suggests that "all men" in Romans 5:18 is limited by the "one man" being referenced, either Adam or Christ.

The connection that Adam and Christ share in common with the "all" in 1 Corinthians 15:22 and Romans 5:8 has several different interpretations that have been offered. Personally I believe there is a federal headship connection. "Things done by one may be imputed unto others, propter relationem foederalem, because of a covenant relation between them." Hodge

I also believe Adam and Christ are uniquely qualified and appointed by God to be the first fruits of their respective seed. No other human beings can be presented before God in the way they can.
