No. The KJV has it right. For a better look at why God repents when He does, we can look at Jeremiah 18:
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

Ok, if you were a very bad anti-Christ spirit, would you add and delete things from the most used Bible in the world? Of course. You could be richer selling you're own version or brand.
Let us now memorize these next scriptures: REVELATION 22:18-21, Exodus 32:33, Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32
( good advise Deuteronomy 13:1-5 ), Gal. 1:8-9

Numbers 20:7-12, is a portion of the whole story & reason.
Let's look at the bigger picture:
Numbers 20:12, please note it says "Because you believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore._._" , Please read Exodus, Moses' doubts: Exodus 3:11,13, Exodus 4:1,3,10,14, Exodus 4:24-26, Exodus 5:22, Exodus 6:12, Exodus 6:30, Exodus 14:11-15, Exodus 16:2-28, Exodus 17:2-7, Exodus 32:11-19,30,31,32,33, Exodus 33:1-3, Numbers 11:1-15, mercy ( Numbers 11:16-20,) Numbers 11:21-23, * Numbers 13, Numbers 13:30,31,32, * Numbers 14, very significant I believe, when they were supposed to take the promised land please read Numbers chapters 13 & 14, & notice: Numbers 13:30, Numbers 14:24, Numbers 14:22-23,
Interesting that you bring up Hezekiah, the LORD several times put that name in my thoughts. In 2 Chronicles 28:27 - 2 Chronicles 29, 30, 31, Hezekiah did much good. 2 Chronicle 32:30,
I felt a warning also about being like Hezekiah. In 2 Kings 18:16 , Hezekiah "cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars._.' & gave it to the king of Assyira" I asked myself was it to save the people from war? Was it fear? Either way all that sacrifice & peace offering didn't stop the evil nor the attacks. 2 Kings 18:17-32, they even used that against Hezekiah when they mocked. 2 Kings 18:22, 2 Kings 18:29-30, 2 Chronicle 32, Isaiah 36:7-22,
Then Hezekiah came to Isaiah 2 Kings 19:1-5, & sought-after the LORD 2Kings 19:14-16,
Another warning I felt 2 Kings 20:12-18,
& 2Kings 20:19, he seemed unconcerned about the bad consequences Hezekiah himself had caused to his own offspring. 2 Chronicles 32:25-26, 2 Chronicles 32:27,
Hopefully these speak deeper to you as they did me. GOD help us * not give what is HOLY & sanctified to GOD over to enemies, * that we won't cause bad consequences to future generations, * that we will care about future generations & not life ourselves too highly with treasure. Remember Isaiah 1:23, Exodus 32:8, Deuteronomy 16:19,

All of Abrahams house was circumcised in Genesis 17. Isaac who the covenant unto the elect of God is through wasnt born yet and it was Ishmael who was circumcized.
There is only one God, the God of Abraham. Ishmael grew up with God And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer ( Genesis 21:20). Ismael had 12 princes ( Genesis 25:16) which are the bloodline of Arab (Muslim) tribes today.

You mentioned Deuteronomy 4:14-19. God was reminding the Israelites to not worship God through images. Shortly after
they came out of Egypt and Moses went up the mountain they went back to idol worship. Exodus 32:1-8 They also worshipped the rod with the serpent on it that Moses made. They had to look upon it to be saved. Number 21:8-9 They worshipped it also. They failed to see what it stood for. Hezekiah had to destroy it because they were burning incense to it.
2Kings18:4 God uses images so that we may understand him better but we need to be careful not to go beyond what they represent.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man SHALL ADD unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in THIS BOOK:
19 And if any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in THIS BOOK.
Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; "and the books" were opened:
and another book was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE and the dead were judged out of those things which were written "in the books", according to THEIR WORKS.
Revelation 20:15

Psalms 56:8

Psalms 139:16

Exodus 32:33

Malachi 3:16 - Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
Mishael comment: if you read slowly you will see differences in Book of Life, THIS BOOK, "in the Books", Book of Remembrance, My Book, Thy Book:
There are Books that record our deeds, confessions (good or evil). Has anyone let fly some "language?" My motto is for me_repent as fast as it took to me to disparage on someone or something.
They have to make Jesus their Lord and Savior. He sheds his blood over our sins. They must have their names RECORDED IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. Priority number one.
Revelation 20:12 - And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 21:27 - And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
Revelation 20:15 - And whosoever was not found written in the BOOK OF LIFE was cast into the lake of fire.

Exodus 32:33 - And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
Psalms 69:28 - Let them be blotted out of the book of the living (Life) and not be written with the righteous.

Hello, this is a common question, but I think includes a false assumption.
It sounds like the question is if God is all knowing He should already know all outcomes and what's the point of everything, like life and our 'choices'?
I think what is wrong with this question is we assume God is a certain way and if it doesn't comform to our narrow understanding then we think something must be wrong.
Here's another way to look at the question: If God is all powerful, doesn't He have the power to let us have choices? If God is all powerful, can't He choose to let things unfold on our timeline and to not need to see into the future for all outcomes?
The Bible gives examples of God changing His mind. It's in the Bible, so either we believe the Bible or not, right?
Exodus 32:14
Jonah 3:10
Genesis 6:6
I've also heard people say things like: if God is all powerful, can't He choose to limit Himself? And if He can, then He's not all powerful, and if he can't, then He's not all powerful. I seriously heard an atheist say this claiming it 'disproves' God, but it's just another human logical fallacy. God is God and He is not confined or limited by our silly little logical shortcomings. We are the ones limited in understanding. 1 Corinthians 1:25
Paul, the writer of much of the new testament; saved and given instruction to help save others by Christ, lets us know that even he could lose his salvation if he doesn't continue to walk with the Lord. 1 Cor 9: 24-27. Please note vs 27.
Our names are already written in the "book of life" ( Exodus 32:32-33, Rev 13:8, Rev 20:15, Rev 21:17) and many, many, more. Just type in, King James Version for the Book of Life verses. So, we have salvation through Christ but we must accept it. Acts 2:41 for example, talks about a few thousand that got saved (accepted their salvation).
However, picking up your cross and FOLLOWING CHRIST will require training given us through the Holy Spirit and many people will not want to tolerate that training for heaven and like the seed without root, wither up and die ( Matt 13:6). Or leave the flock and wonder off into the world. Satan does everything he can to temp and lead others away from Christ. He seems to be very successful by filling our lives with materialism. It can be easier than we want to admit to desire what the world offers if we put Christ second.
Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God in all that you do and I'll see you in heaven.
Dear Vince, I just noticed the insult: "So to be wise, one has to know good and evil. This will take time for you to get."
Matthew 12:36-37
"Are you saying here that God created the world and out of no where evil entered the creation? That would mean God don't know all things. God put evil and death here, therefore, this world was not intended to be everlasting paradise."
God is so powerful that He can choose to be in the moment and can change His mind too. Jonah 3:10, Genesis 18:26, Exodus 32:14, Genesis 6:6. So, one could take the other side of the argument and ask, do you not think God is powerful enough to change his mind or live temporarily in the moment and react as things unfold?
I don't think anyone can say with 100% certainty as to God's intent, his thoughts or feelings ( 1 Corinthians 2:11), but Genesis 6:6 does say God grieved and had some regret for making man in the garden. He also had regret for how evil mankind had become prior to the flood. He loved us enough to give us freedom of choice, but when so many people choose evil I'm sure God doesn't take kindly to that. It should be equally upsetting to those committing the evil, but if not now, they absolutely will regret it later.
Exodus 32:27 Does anyone else find it interesting that moses commanded people to be slain? Isnt that murder? And what of afterward in Exodus 32:30Exodus 32:32 and Exodus 32:33 . Here moses says Ye have sinned a great sin and now i will go up unto the lord peradventure i shall make an atonement for your sin. And 32:33 states that the lord would blot out those whom sinned against him...... What of THALL SHALL NOT KILL? Things arent adding up here for me.... iso any insight . Stephen
The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and is not of any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20).
The word 'Repent' in different forms (repent, repentance, repented, repentest, repenteth, repenting, repentings) is mentioned 110 times in the KJV, and means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. The word 'repent' used in the New Testament was translated from the Greek word "metanoeo", and means to change, transform, to think differently or reconsider.
It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).
For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9) and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( Matthew 7:7; John 14:17).
You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), as mankind follows after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).
It is only by revelation of God that people will come to know the true Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1), and only then will you be able to overcome the spirit of this world ( 1 John 5:4; Rev. 3:21) and learn what 'True Repentance' means, and how this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9). It should also be remembered that it is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14).
LUKE 15:10. LIKEWISE, I SAY UNTO YOU, THERE IS JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTETH.
Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
Part 3) In Exodus 32:32-33, the ones who God told Moses would be blotted out were those who were worshipping another god. Moses asked God to blot him out but God did not do it. Moses worshipped God. The others did not, and God tells us who He would blot out. It is my understanding that God will blot out those who refuse to surrender their life to Christ. But for those who receive and worship Him, He will not blot out. Studying all the references in both the OT and NT seem to indicate that there is more than one book. The Jews knew that. There's the book of life which has listed in it everyone that has received human life. And then there's the book of the Lamb, those who belong to Christ.
if one can not lost their salvation and the Holy Spirit can not leave...then why this?
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Exodus 32:33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.
(one can have their name blotted out of the book of life and yes I know they are not saved yet)
Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
The Golden Calf and everything Israel did was from the beginning of the "Curse!" The "Curse" began with the "Woman" in the "Garden of Eden" when she went into agreement with the devil and not only betrayed the "Word of God", but deceived Adam as well. Adam gave into her voice which was the devils voice. Jesus dealt with the woman and the devil and denied them both, thus creating the New Testament
God must have been talking about the golden calf idolatry. When you worship another God other than the One True God, then God burned with anger and sworn to visit their sin upon them. I imagine it is in essance totally denying the love and adoration of what God has done in your life and in turn substitute it for another displeasing kind of thing.
"And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book." Once saved, afterwards destroyed for sin and unbelief, and for refusing the Holy Spirit! How MANY times has the LORD warned, Take heed and beware, that you not fall; but that you endure true and faithful to the end, THAT YOU MIGHT ATTAIN THAT FOR WHICH YOU HAVE BEEN ATTAINED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
Herbert; I don't agree with the term, Dual Religions. If there is really a work of God's Spirit wrought in our hearts through faith in Jesus, and we have repented and converted according to the truth; then there will be no easy running back to the idols and uncleanness of the world but by violence against our own conscience and convictions; and then the remorse is unbearable! Israel showed none!
Exodus chapter 32 explains Israel's concept of Dual Religion .Recently at this same place they had fulley embraced the Jehovah God as he spoke to them from the fiery mountains of 🔥 fire and they had sworned to served Him for ever. But now because Moses hadn't returned at the appointed 🕙 they quickly returned to the pagan idol gods of Egypt and had the High priest Aaron to build them a idol god .
Verse 1: The Israelites were following a man and depending on Moses for their relationship with Jehovah God. They were fleshly minded and not spiritual minded.
6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.
7 At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
8 If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.
9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

they came out of Egypt and Moses went up the mountain they went back to idol worship.
Thanks
Exodus 2:13-14, Exodus 4:23-26, Exodus 5:20-21, Exodus 6:9, Exodus 14:10-12, Exodus 15:24, Exodus 16:2,3, Exodus 16:19-20, Exodus 16:25-28, Exodus 17:2-4,
Hebrews 13:17,
Hopefully these are helpful to understand more fully the reason.

And whosoever was NOT WRITTEN in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in THY BOOK all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Exodus 32:33
And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of MY BOOK.
There is intercession Exodus 32:11, Genesis 18
Actually there is a way, Isaiah 6:8, Romans 8:34,

Revelation 3:5 - He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Revelation 3:1-6 - And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. (Read More...)

:)
Hope this helps a little.
