    Part 1

Grace is nothing new in the New Testament. The Old Testament has men that found grace . Noah found grace.

    Genesis 6:8

But Noah foundgracein the eyes of the LORD.

    Jacob found grace.

    Genesis 33:10

And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have foundgracein thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.

Joseph of the Twelve Tribes of Israel found grace.

    Genesis 39:4

And Joseph foundgracein his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.

    Moses found grace.

    Exodus 33:12

And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also foundgracein my sight.

The best one of them all is Jesus Christ was full of grace.

    John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full ofgraceand truth.

    Jesus Christ is Grace.

    John 1:17

For the law was given by Moses, butgraceand truth came by Jesus Christ.

Ray , in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 please believe the gospel of grace

    Next topic:

GOD'S FAVOR IS UPON HIS PEOPLE WHOM HE CHOSE, NOT BECAUSE THEY CHOSE HIM

If you've read even a little of the Bible, you have probably crossed a passage or two where it talked about someone having God's favor or otherwise seeking it.

God's favor is God's grace and goodness being actively displayed in one's circumstances. It can produce an anointing, such as for a prophet, or a special guidance, as with Moses or Abraham as they travelled in the way God led them, or it can involve miraculous occurrences that bring about a good end, such as with the Israelites when they left Egypt or parting the Red Sea, or the provision of leadership, authority, and honor as with Joseph in Egypt. Joseph found favor with Potiphar and was placed in charge of Potiphar's household. The Lord was with Joseph and blessed everything he did ( Genesis 39:2-6). In Exodus 3:21, God promised to give the Israelites favor with the Egyptians so they would give them silver, gold and clothing as they left Egypt.

From reading the OT we can know that God chose the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to be the people He would shed His favor upon. It was not because they were so great in number among the other nations, nor was it because of their righteousness, or because of their steadfastness in their faith in Him or their superiority to those of other nations. It was solely due to God's sovereign choice. ( Dt. 7:6-8). He could have chosen any other people or nation if He had determined before creation to use this other nation to fulfill His plan. But, before creation He had determined that the eternal, divine Son would be incarnated through Mary of the Jews. Therefore, God chose Israel as His favored people, because from them, the Messiah would be born and live and die to save those God chose to save from pre-creation.

This account of Joseph in Potiphar's house is familiar to many. Joseph was 17 when he arrived in Potiphar's household. It does not say how much time had elapsed until Potiphar noticed that God prospered Joseph in all he did. Joseph knew God. Jacob most likely shared his faith with Joseph and taught Him what he knew. I do not think that Joseph was very mature in His faith when he first arrived in Egypt. God favored and prospered Joseph in accordance with His will and purpose for Joseph's life. Joseph did not merit this favor and prosperity. But God blessed him more so than others.

I think that these blessings encouraged to look to God more and more. They strengthened his faith and resolve to follow God's ways.

Potiphar was an important official to the Pharaoh. He most likely had many responsibilities along with prestige among the people. He noticed Joseph, a slave, and chose to give Joseph responsibility over his household. This was quite and honor as well as putting Joseph under a microscope, so to speak. Potiphar's wife noticed Joseph, too. But not in a good way. She say that Joseph was young, and handsome, and virile. She desired to seduce him into adultery and attempted this repeatedly over a period of time.

Joseph must have been careful not to be alone in the house with her. But one day, he had to be in the house to do some task and he was alone there with the wife. She tried to ensnare him again, but he repelled her advances once again, running away from the the occasion for sin. His refusal to lie with the wife landed him in prison, as Potiphar either believed his wife or wanted to protect her reputation and honor.

Even in prison, God favored Joseph and intervened to have Joseph be put in charge of the other prisoners. God was further developing Joseph's leadership skills, but, more importantly, God was forming Joseph's character.

Joseph was not perfect. None of us are. So, God did not favor him because he was perfect, but because he was His.

Good, you're at the right site. Start reading the WORD written inside by clicking the Books, I like Luke when I started that was great to show me as new study who Christ Jesus was, is & is to come. Hover over the scripture here, should bring you straight to it.

Luke 1:1-4, you can continue to read by clicking read full chapter the scroll down, click tab on edges to next chapter, etc. Many people enjoy Psalms, I didn't enjoy it as much as a new beginner study but do enjoy it much more now after years of study.

    Psalms 1:1-3,

U may enjoy Exodus, which actually begins in Genesis 37:1-36, continues : Genesis 39:1-23, Genesis 40:1-23, Genesis 41:1-57, Genesis 42:1-38, Genesis 43:1-34, Genesis 44:1-34,

[Note this scripture chapter 44, Genesis, if you noticed we skipped Genesis 38, because it jumps from Joseph to Judah. Now if you read Genesis 38:1-30, you can understand a few things on deeper level = Judah maybe knows painful loss of children at this point in his life & even the difference of love towards children of his "loved wife". Next very importance of Judah's sacrifice for others, resemblance of Jesus sacrifice being beloved Son of GOD. John 3:16, ]also interesting Tamar, bore to Judah the son in Jesus documented lineage Matthew 1:1-3]

Back to story : Genesis 45:1-28, (forgiveness), Genesis 46:1-34, Genesis 47:1-12 (Redemption) Genesis 47:27-31,

    Now note: Genesis 47:13-26 , Genesis 12:1-3, Genesis 12:10, Genesis 12:11-16, * Genesis 12:13-20, Genesis 16:3, Genesis 16:6-11, Genesis 15:13-14, Genesis 21:8-21, my own opinion Deuteronomy 32:35-36, Romans 12:19.

These moments in Genesis leading up to how & why Israel came into bondage. Exodus 1:1-8, continue reading Exodus 1:22, please continue to read all of Exodus.

One more encouraging note :) Hebrews 11:22, Psalms 105:1-45,

Furthermore on this site under the 1611 Version tab you can scroll to see more history on the Bible.

Hopefully these inspire a new lifetime desire of deeper study

I do not think that Joseph's owner actually thought that Joseph had tried.to rape his wife. He knew how she was or he would not have put Joseph in the Kings prison . This prison was for the higher society criminals . His hand was forced and he had to do something .

Wow. Goes to show take away the man, but you cannot take away his God. He did no wrong yet accused of wrong doing, but God was with him that even the keeper of the prison favored him. Amazing and humbling person.
  • Paul Ivie on 1 Corinthians 6:16 - 5 years ago
What does 1 Corinthians 6:18 mean?

In the Greco-Roman, idol-worshiping culture of Paul's day, sex of all kinds had been normalized for nearly everyone. That included prostitution, adultery, pedophilia, homosexuality, and so forth. Growing up in this environment, it's not surprising to think some of the Christians in Corinth had trouble seeing sex outside of marriage as a big deal. Paul has spent this chapter showing why avoiding sexual immorality is so essential for believers.

Now he gives them a strategy for dealing with it: run. He tells them to flee from sexual immorality. Run away like you are escaping from something that might harm you, because it will. Even if the culture despises you for it, it's better to escape from sexual sin than to be conquered by it ( Genesis 39:7-12).

Paul shows that sexual immorality is different from other kinds of sin because it's a form of self-harm. We might commit other sins with our bodies, but sexual immorality unites us sinfully with another person. This happens on a deeply physical and spiritual level. We will experience the natural consequences of that sin at that deep level, as well.

It's important to note that Paul did not write that sexual immorality is the worst of all sins, as we sometimes conclude. Instead, he is combatting the casual attitude toward sexual sin carried by some Christians in hyper-sexualized cultures. In addition to hurting others, sexual immorality contributes to our own deep pain. It's no more or less a sin than any other, but human cultures tend to treat it more casually than other errors. Galatians 6:7-16 King James Version (KJV) 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Now please know that I believe that every sin is forgiven by God through Jesus Christ & his atoning death on the cross. I John 1:9 KJV

So when I read this scripture " I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD. I know "Father God" hears my cry, listens to me when I talk.... I see the power of integrity in the life of joseph. He had the fear of the lord in his heart. As christians, we need to be real whether we're in darkness where no one else is seeing us. God sees every where. Let integrity watch over your life as did to joseph.Glory be to God. Integrity will protect us and lead us to a life that will please God. Decide never to please man to the expense of your relationship with God.
