Handy way to study the Bible.

God's ways are very subtle, established and with multipurpose. But man's ways are very limited and there is no guarantee that they can be fruitful. The Divine consciousness is transcendental whereas human consciousness is ever fluctuating.

This is so true "God’s word will never return void", for owe to speak his word and apply it to ourselves, we are sending his message out, and he will overcome all trails any of us might be encountering.

God ever is great in every thing.
  • Ann Richards on Isaiah 55:6 - 13 years ago
It is important for us to seek the Lord, and not for God to seek us. He has already done so much for us, already made a way, so why not go to him and take it all. It is free, no charge. So do not wait, take it now.
  • Ann Richards on Isaiah 55 - 13 years ago
There is power in speaking the Word of God. When we speak His word, we activate the Spirit of the Word, and God rises up and takes care of the situation we are faced with, you speak that which is hidden in your heart. THE WORD OF GOD.

The MAIN OBJECT IN THIS VERSE IS THE WORD OF GOD ( Isaiah 55:8-11). VERSE 8, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. Verse 9, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Verse 10, For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: Verse 11, So shall my word be that “goeth forth” out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. It seems whenever I struggle or face a tough trial there are very few places I can find refuge and strength. Often a close friend or mentor can help. Sometimes it is my spouse or my kids. Just being around family is therapeutic to the soul. However, there is one thing that never fails me, and that is the Word of God. God's Word never ceases to amaze me. It truly is a book of life. In this chapter, God said, "His Word will never return to Him void." That simply means, It will never return empty handed or in vain. Most of us understand that everything in the Word of God is profitable. However, I draw your attention to the words, "goeth forth". The Word that doesn't return void is the Word that 'goeth forth'. The Word that is profitable is the Word that is 'spoken' out of our mouth. God's Word doesn't help us if it stays on our bookshelves. God's Word doesn't accomplish what God wants it to if we don't speak it. I realize this article may be read by hundreds of preachers; however, I am not referring to preaching in this article. If the only spoken Word in our lives is the Word we preach, then we have miserably failed. Yes, we need to study, read, meditate, share and preach the Word. Yet, I am stating that we need to literally speak the Word out loud. We need to verbalize it over and over again. Not only from our pulpits, but over every situation in our own lives. If we can speak the Word to others, why can't we speak it unto ourselves? This is how our faith grows. This is how we make it through the fire.

I am only 19 but I am a called minster of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am young and don't have all the knowledge of the Bible but God has shared with me many concerns of the church. We live in a day and time where man has tried to take the place of God and answer certain questions or rasie certain questions. We are finite beings and God is infinite, omnipotent, and omniscient. When you begin to realize Isaiah 55:8-9. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
    declares the Lord.
9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts" then you will see we can't answer everything and only God can. Stop trying to take the place of God and allow His mysteries to be revealed in due time. Another thing we have begun to take the emphasis off of Christ by arguing about His name. WHY??? Jesus, Yeshua or whatever else is NOT important. Not everyone called Jesus by that name. He was known as Son of David, Good Master and Teacher, Son of Man, Son of David, etc. Whatever you call Him shouldn't be whats important, its the fact on whether you are calling on Him or not. God Bless

God's words are powerful and can do all things.
  • Frenz on Isaiah 55 - 14 years ago
    ( Isa 55:11) says,
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Let us focus on the word "GOETH FORTH" amen!
Meaning once we speak God's word coming from our mouth to the lost (people)it says it will not return to God VOID but it will accomplice to whatever God pleases! It is the word of God that we will speak & who will convict us to know the truth the truth that will set us free ( John 8:32)
Thru the word of God nothing is impossible with God to those who will believe in him.
And i say to you you cannot understand the word of God if our hearts is closed ( Rev 3:20)
    Godbless you all

What i understand from this verse is to buy the truth and sell it not because Jesus has already paid the price for us we easily gain access to his grace, any good things we want in life but we can continue in this if we live right with God that is the truth.

I'm excited especially with verse 5, to the effect that I'll call not only a business opportunities or wealth, but a whole nation will I call and the same will respond running to me!! Seeking the Lord will cause the glory of the Lord to shine upon the seeker's life till that person reaches a stage in which they'll say, "I claim this and this and this for Jesus Christ!!". We are called to influence the whole globe and all its nations for Christ, Glory to God!!

15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord.

You can't put a price on the Love of Jesus and all that he has for you. The Love of Jesus and the Peace of God endureth forever.

    Michelle,

We are born sinners. There is, and are, profound differences between the Creator and the created. This passage is so much like the invitation of the Lord Jesus when he said,"Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I shall give you rest." Thus, "Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.", means that if you have any interest in being saved, call upon him, for he is abundant in mercy and thru forgiveness of sins, purchased by the blood of Christ on the cross, will save you for eternity.

But what does it mean? I am a Sunday School teacher of the 5th and 6th graders, How would you explain Isaiah 55:8 to them?

To me this verse is saying that while God is a higher more powerful being he is watching over us, allowing us the freedom of choices but He is there to pick us up when we choose the wrong way.

    What are your Thoughts?
