John 1:14-15: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me."

This describes Jesus being the Word.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

This says the Word (Jesus) was God.

Genesis 1:26 "Let US make" (plural).

John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

God the father is referred to as God. I think most understand this. God also can refer to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. I think most Bible readers understand this too. Jesus became a man and prayed to God, His Father. While being man he was still God. This does not mean He was his Father.

So, the human argument ignores scripture and claims Jesus wasn't ever God, because they can't humanly imagine Jesus talking to himself. This is a strawman argument, because no one believes Jesus was praying to himself.

The human argument against Jesus being part of the God head is akin to the skit of "Who's on first." Imagine an orange consisting of skin, pulp, and seeds like the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as described in 1 JOHN 5:7. Someone claims "the skin isn't part of the orange, because it's different than the seeds. Because it's impossible for the seeds to be the same as the skin, so it must not be an orange! Only one of the 3 can be an orange, so the other parts must not be part of the orange."

I also think there's an underlying spiritual battle occurring here. One must ask why someone is so motivated to undermine and discredit Jesus's divinity? Who would be behind such a goal? We know the answer. Tread carefully, stay in the Bible, and pray deeply about this before attacking Jesus on a website of Jesus followers.

Below are scriptures everyone should read and pray deeply for wisdom and understanding for. Beware of anyone trying to attack, disrespect, or demean Jesus or the name of Jesus. Jesus loves you and died for you. Scripture indicates that Jesus is God. Jesus is not God the father, but God the son. The 3 are all united as 1. There aren't 3 separate gods, there is 1 God with 3 parts as 1 John 5:7 says. We could debunk every one of the deniers' disengenuous arguments, but that would take a lot of space and most are closed off anyway. The same info is also online in countless websites. Satan loves going after any weakness he can find and people keep falling for the same tricks. More Proof that Jesus is part of the Godhead and trinity:

Some like to use the same old tired argument to attack Jesus and try to discredit Him, which is: Jesus never claimed He was God.

It's a logical flaw to assume something based on something not being recorded. The Bible never said it's the Bible, either. The word Bible isn't in the Bible, so should we assume it isn't a Bible? You probably haven't ever published a book saying that you're a human being, so based on this logic we can assume you aren't one?

Just because there isn't a direct quote from someone doesn't invalidate a concept from the Bible. For example, the Bible didn't record Jesus ever saying we shouldn't "shoot someone." Does that mean it's ok? The Bible also didn't record Jesus saying the specific words that we shouldn't "have an affair." Does that mean it's ok, then?

There's so much scriptural proof we run out of space to post them all. Deniers will still deny, just like it says in 1 John 2:22-24. Satan is real and is great at deceiving. Pray hard about learning the truth. The truth will set you free. John 8:32.

Read all of the scriptures and ignore the cultists who stray from God's Word or distort scripture. Even children can understand what these verses mean so I think some adults are just wanting to reinforce what they already want to believe, because it's convenient for other reasons. Is a Christian a real Christ follower if he doesn't believe in the divinity of Christ? That is something we should pray deeply and study deeply about.

This sounds like an intellectually disingenuous question. Even children understand the concept of the Godhead or trinity- it's straight from God's word. If you don't understand it, that's fine, have you tried praying for wisdom and understanding. It's possible some of these comments are games a person is playing to try to pull some away from the truth to his cult-like beliefs not from the Bible. That's like doing the work of the devil. It's basically a big Bible dictionary , it tells you what every word in the Bible means ,I find the best one is called Strongs Exhaustive Concordance but others are available , if you had one you would be able to look up the word Emmanuel , from my memory it means :God with us ". A concordance is a fab tool to open up a whole new world of understanding the names of people and places in the Bible , I don't know if this site has one but it probably should have . Hello Eric. We're so pleased to see the progress you're making with your systematic Bible reading. And you've now reached this great portion of Scripture in Isaiah.

Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." It is true, that Immanuel is a Proper Name, but as I understand the significance of this prophecy, it was given as a sign to King Ahaz of Judah that before this Child (Immanuel) would be a little boy, the land & people who conspired to attack Judah would be made desolate & destroyed.

So the impact of this sign to Ahaz was that firstly, God would enable a virgin to conceive, & secondly, that the Child's Name would signify that this was no ordinary babe that has arrived by no ordinary birth. His coming would be that 'God is now with us', or in the Hebrew, "with us, is God". So, I don't believe that the name Immanuel was to become Jesus' Name, but that by inference, the Name would signify the Presence of God now with His people. For example, one could exclaim: this is Jesus Christ, our Immanuel!

In Matthew 1:21-25, we see the fulfillment of this prophecy, as the angel proclaimed to Joseph that this Babe will be named Jesus, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah of Immanuel's coming, i.e. the arrival of God in human form. To give this meaning further support, we could consider Isaiah 9:6, where we read that this coming One would be called, "Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace". See also Jeremiah 23:5,6 (a righteous Branch, The Lord our Righteousness). In very Truth, Jesus was the embodiment of all these Divine attributes, but no one in Israel ever called Him by any of those names. So these names, as also Immanuel, can be understood to be representative of Who this Jesus is: truly God & now called Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God in His incarnation. Isaiah prophesied the son of the virgin to be called Immanuel. How did we go from that to Jesus?

Isaiah 7:v.14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a VIRGIN shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The Word above was revealed to the prophet of the Lord, Isaiah, fulfilled LITERALLY later and it around past seven centuries.

I don't find where Ahaz asks for help or a sign as you mentioned.

But what is important, GOD TOLD HIM TO ASK AND HE REFUSED TO:

Isaiah 7:12-13. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

Notice "NOW" the Lord is talking to the WHOLE HOUSE OF DAVID, ( Present and future ).

And he said, ""HEAR YE NOW, O HOUSE OF DAVID;""

This Prophecy was/is given to the Davided Kingdom throughout all ages.

Let's look at the Matthew account.

The account considers a Virgin without having to mention the word virgin!

Matthew 1:18-23. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph,

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

( Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,

Jesus can't be who he is without the virgin birth!!

If you read all of Isaiah 7 you will see that it is about Ahaz the King of Judah. His Kingdom was under threat from two kings, Rezin the King of Syria and Pekah the King of Israel. Ahaz asked the Assyrian king Tiglath-Pileser for help. The prophet Isaiah told Ahaz that God would deliver Israel and that he should ask for a sign so that he could be confident that this would happen. God gave King Ahaz a sign for himself and for the whole nation of Judah:

'And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good. For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings. ( Isa. 7:13-16)

The child described in Isaiah 7:13-16 would be a sign to King Ahaz and to the nation of Judah. Before this child was old enough to know the difference between good and evil, both Rezin the King of Syria and Pekah the King of Israel would be gone. This child would the be proof that God was going to protect the people of Judah from an attack by the two kings, Rezin the King of Syria and Pekah the King of Israel. Whoever wrote the Gospel of Matthew was misusing the quote from Isaiah 7 when applying it to Jesus when it clearly refers to a child that was born during the time of King Ahaz and the prophet Isaiah.

I'm not sure If I'm understanding you but the child Emanuel wasn't born during the time of Isaiah If that's what you are saying, This is a reference to our Lord born of Mary.

And I want to place the emphasis on it being a sign with significance!!

Now if the Lord goes through great lengths to give a telling SIGN a YOUNG WOMAN HAVING A CHILD WOULDN'T MOVE NOONE.

The seed of the woman also suggests the Virgin birth.

Virgin means virgin. The Bible is already translated and accurate. If you don't believe Mary was a virgin like the Bible says, what is your reason?

There were zero other virgin births other than Jesus. Jesus = Immanuel. Jesus and God the father have many names throughout the Bible and this is one of them. It doesn't mean it would become Jesus's literal first name. The name means God with us since Jesus = God.

Isaiah 7:14 = prophesy

Matthew 1:23 = fulfillment

Luke 1:34-38 = Yes, Mary was in fact a virgin

Luke 2:7 = Jesus's birth

Obviously the word 'Virgin' doesn't mean what people think, but probably just means 'young woman'. If it was the case that it literally meant 'virgin' then the child Immanuel, referred to in Isaiah 7: 14, who was born at the time of the prophet Isaiah to encourage Ahaz would also have been born of a virgin. So Jesus would not be unique in having a virgin birth. Jesus's mother Mary would also not be unique in giving birth to a child while still a virgin.

Jesus needed to live a normal human existence, identifying in every way with His people, with their sufferings, their joys, hopes, doubts, sicknesses, etc. And He could only do this if He came as a Babe, growing up as a young man & fulfilling the Will of God in life & death. ( Hebrews 2:16-18). And even though the people saw Him only as the son of Joseph & Mary ( Matthew 13:55,56), they should have known the Scriptures that spoke of His coming ( Isaiah 7:14; Daniel 9:24-26; Isaiah chaps 52 & 53; Zechariah 9:9, 12:10; & many others).

To your other questions: "what was Christ's victory over?" Ultimately, He was victorious over death & hell; by implication: over sin's penalty & over Satan's power to all who believed. 2 Timothy 1:10; 1 Corinthians 15:25,26 & Revelation 20:14.

And "how did He achieve this victory?" Only by the Cross. What seemed to the world & to Satan as the final death blow to Jesus to be rid of Him, in fact became the very means of salvation to all who would believe on Him. Jesus' resurrection was God's glorious proclamation of His acceptance that sin's price was now fully paid & that all who put their trust in Him would be cleansed by Jesus' Blood, justified, accepted & glorified ( Romans 8:30).

Cris - in Genesis 1:26 pronoun "us & our" were used, because there were cherubim present. You left out Genesis 1:27 which says this: Notice used of singular pronoun (he & his)= Verse 27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." the reason for the change in pronouns is because God is the only that created man, and all things. The cherubim were there as messengers of God.

In the Old Testament, only Titles were used for God whose name was kept secret.

God, Spirit, LORD, Word, Redeemer of Israel, Holy One of Israel, Adonai, Yahweh, El Shaddai, Creator, Deliverer, Elohim, I AM,

Prophesy of Prophet Isaiah:

Isaiah 7:14 14Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

God is a Spirit - without blood, water, flesh, bones, is invisible to the naked eye. God humbled himself, manifested himself in the flesh a man name Jesus, who suffered, shed blood on the cross to cleanse man from sins, died on the cross, buried then rose from the dead on 3rd day, ascended into heaven, sent the Holy Spirit to indwell in our hearts = gifted us eternal life or salvation.

Jesus is the name above all names, all the titles used in the Old Testament and New Testament belongs to Jesus only. So Jesus is God and God is Jesus - no other God. Those who preach the Trinity are misleading people, preaching a gospel that contradict the true gospel of Jesus during his earthly ministry with his 12 apostles.

In summary = God in creation Old Testament; God manifested as a man name Jesus in New Testament; God as the Holy Spirit in Resurrection - all of these titles only belongs to Jesus.

In the New Testament, these titles were used;

God the Father, Son of God, Son of man, Christ, Holy Spirit, Savior, Messiah, First and Last,

In Hebrews 9:22 - 22And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

My belief is that Mary, by the grace of God, supplied the ovum necessary for the Word to become flesh. Else he would have not truly been the Son of Man, but another life form.

According to scripture, Jesus Christ would be the seed of the woman, the root of Jesse, the seed of Abraham, made like unto his brethren, the root and offspring of David.

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. ( Genesis 3:15)

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. ( Isaiah 7:14)

And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. ( Isaiah 11:10)

For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. That's a great question Danae. It is one that has brought on many discussions & ideas over the years.

My belief is this: you're right that Mary & Joseph were ordinary human beings, though of course special as they were selected by God to bring forth His Son into the World. And in their humanity, they, like us, were born with a sin nature passed onto us from our first parents. And they would have sinned as well, though some would teach that they (specifically Mary) did not, since they were in every respect human as we are.

So why wouldn't baby Jesus also receive a sin nature like all of us? I see it this way: neither Mary or Joseph contributed to the conception of the babe. That is, Joseph certainly wasn't the father & Mary did not contribute her ovum to this conception. The Bible says in Luke 1:35, "And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God."

I understand this verse to say that God, by His Spirit overshadowed Mary & placed this Holy Seed (one entirely from God without human intervention) into Mary's womb. So this Seed had not the nature that is passed down through mankind - it is a pure & Holy Seed. So couldn't God just zap Jesus onto the Earth & avoid all this human involvement? Well, the Scriptures speak of this Holy One coming, Who would be the Messiah, born in humanity ( 2 Samuel 7:12,13; Isaiah 7:14; Micah 5:2), so Jesus was born in fulfilment of all Scriptures, even the Sacrifices which spoke about His redemptive work. Yet, Jesus' Birth was without a sin nature so that He could ultimately be the Perfect Spotless Sacrifice for mankind. So Jesus was tempted of Satan ( Matthew 4:1-11), not to commit sin since He had no sin nature, but Satan wanted to cause the sin nature to be a part of Jesus, just as he did to Adam & Eve. But Jesus resisted this attempt & remained pure ( Hebrews 4:15).

Hello saints of God, the Highest. I thought the discussion was about Jesus being born from a virgin birth. Because Jesus' birth would be a sign, given to them, is what I would like to be more enlightened about. I will go back to my studies and possibly get back to you, to hear your comments on the sign of Jesus' birth and the why or reason-the purpose in context.

In Isaiah 7:14, the word is spelled out using the Hebrew/Chaldean/Aramaic spelling, Immanuel. Whereas in Matthew 1:23, Emmanuel is taken from the Greek spelling, Emmanouel. Both mean exactly the same: God with us.

Isaiah 7:14 names the new child born Immanuel with an "I", but when I search, it is spelled with an "E" Emmanuel. Why is this?

Isaiah gave that prophecy hundreds of years before Mary was visited by Gabriel (in the sixth month) nine months later she delivered in Bethlehem our SAVIOR Baby JESUS. (April 6th) at the same (April) We are enlightened to the visit of Angels (Great light showed all around) with a message for the shepherds who were (tending their spring births) ALSO of their LAMBS, APRIL 6th

Briefly, Daniel, whose name means "God is my Judge", was a statesman in the court of heathen monarchs. He was taken captive as a youth to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar in 605 BC & spent the rest of his long life there as a governmental official & a prophet of the true God. He was the writer of this Book (see Daniel 12:4) as also did Jesus Christ identified him as a prophet ( Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14). Throughout his life, Daniel was uncompromising & faithful to his God.

His times: after King Nebuchadnezzar's death & the eventual appointment of Belshazzar his son, Daniel fell from favour with the Babylonians, but was recalled back to interpret the writing that appeared at Belshazzar's feast (5:13). Daniel was also made one of three presidents under Darius (6:1-3). His ministry was to testify, through his personal life & prophecies, to God's Power. Though Israel was in exile, Daniel told them that God had not deserted them, & Daniel also revealed many details about God's Plan for them in the future. He also traced the course of the Gentile world powers from his own day right up to the second coming of Christ. Daniel wrote this prophecy in about the year 537 BC.

The Historicity of Daniel
