I would not believe in any witches because as it says on lev19:31 neither seek after wizards so if I were you I wouldn't watch or read any harry poter books
The word faith in James Chapter 2 is talking about Spiritual faith. There are two types of faith, human faith, and Spiritual faith. Spiritual faith is only produced by God's Spirit. We can't produce it. The word faith literally means persuasion. And the word works literally means activity. And if you put faith (persuasion) and activity together, you realize that it is God's Spirit in you that is doing the work.
James 2:8 says if ye fulfil the royal law, and this is the same as the law of liberty. It's called Torah or Kingdom Law. Royal means belonging to the king. But if you fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, and this is found Leviticus 19:18, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, and then he says you do well:
In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. I'd like to point out two things. Number one, the term "Thou shalt love" is not in command form. That is a Future Active Indicative in the Greek text. It is it is not a command. It is a factual statement. You will love! Secondly, believers are supposed to love one another. But, neither in the Old Testament, nor in the New Testament, is it in command form.
As a matter of fact, the command in the Old Testament is (YOU WILL) love the Lord your God, and (YOU WILL) love your neighbor as yourself. It's a factual statement, not a command. Jesus is not commanding us to go out and to love. He's stating fact, that if we have His Spirit, WE WILL love. It's His Spirit in us that produces Agape love. We cannot produce Agape. That's why we have to understand that if we have His Spirit in us, WE WILL love. Factual statement!
It comes from Deut. Chapter 6, the chapter that has the SHEMA, the prayer that's prayed every morning and evening by Orthodox Jews. In that prayer, they recite the fact that God says that I will put my Spirit in you, and I will put my laws on your heart, and you will love the Lord your God.
Unlike others I have not come to debate. I find it strange and noteworthy that the passage describes a custom that was so obscure for so long that we use a Polynesian loanword to describe it. But look to the old King James where it could also mean do not draw on your body with ink that will wash off. Here I must trust the translator's insight.
Leviticus 19.28 God's word settles it, and is the only word that matters! The issue of body piercings and tattoos I have had quite a few discussions in the past. Interesting some want to choose when to follow the word and not follow the word depending on if it may fit into their personal beliefs. Just because we are forgiven, does not mean we should not try out best to live a holy lifel
mammon is money. The key word here is serve. Money is not bad if you use it wisely. Supporting your family, giving to charity. Greed is sin but not good works.
So , for all those quick to condemn, touting scripture verse by verse, you also honor all the passages in Leviticus? I? And if a stranger dwells with you in your land, you shall not mistreat him. The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:13-14
Sometimes Christians do not want to do what God commanded. I am not against tattoos but I
have told my family and friends that God said not to get them. Now I can share Leviticus 19:28.
You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any mark upon you I am
the Lord. God said it and that settles it! I would not invite Satan to dwell on my body everyday.
Amen!
There are lots of valid points to go both ways. I fear, however as a people called of God to be separated from the world we miss the very foundation of Christian Faith by debating over the Law as Peter and Paul did. We possess no righteousness except it be by faith alone. The Law does not save it condemns through wrath. The only Law that existed before the Flood was to Honor The Sabbath Day.
Michael, about your comment on hair length, did you state that Jesus would have had short hair? Many of the Independent Fundamental Baptists like to portray Jesus with a crew cut, which is quite absurd. We have to rightly divide; Paul was writing to people in the body of Christ, not to Jews nor to Christ Himself. Per Leviticus 19:27, Jesus had long hair. He didn't break the law.
Sean, sin is never a minor offence.Sin takes one from Holy to unholy.( Leviticus 19:2) "Ye shall be holy:for I the LORD your God am holy." ( Hebrews 12:14) "Follow peace with all men,and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord."
DarrellIBMs; You say the truth! Leviticus 19:29 "Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness." Psalm 12:8 "The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted." Amos 5:13 "Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time." May the Lord lead us in what we are to do and say.
Mark Diffin; Leviticus 19:17 "Thou shalt not hate thy neighbor in thine heart; but shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbor, and not suffer sin upon him." Love is jealous! In answer to your question; I looked it up in Strong's and found what I wrote to you. The descriptions of Christ's sufferings are written throughout the Scriptures; as the Lord Jesus also taught the disciples and Himself fulfilled!
In verse 5 even though the men from Shechem, Shiloh, and Samaria were bringing offerings to the house of Jehovah, the practices of these men weren't fully in harmony with the law of Jehovah which is shown by the fact that they made cuts upon themselves. This practice was prohibited by the Law at Leviticus 19:28 and 21:5.
Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
This chapter has given me some difficulty, as is hard to understand how Christ himself might use such language. What I think explains this, rather than it being simply a rude outbust, is firstly he calls, likens, the lost sheep of Israel children. To me, this suggests that Christ may have deemed them as being childish, which is made more likely given that the chapter begins with His encounter with the scribes and Pharisees, whose behaviour may have appeared to Him that way and been somewhat representitive of the behaviour of Israelites. As for calling the Caanite woman a dog, we can assume He didn 't mean that she was literally a dog, as the lost sheep obviously aren 't literally children. Perhaps the Canaanites where not typically interested in the God of Israel or becoming Israelites, which I believe could have been possible given Leviticus 19:33-34 and Ezekiel 47:21-23, but were interesting in being healed, and perhaps given to being bothersome, in the way a dog might. Does anyone have any other ideas that might help me to understand about this better?
The words that I read are do not mark your body for the dead, this tells me that memorial tattoos Honoring the dead folk in your life. I am a tattoo artist and have tattooed many a virgin skin, but I also have limits of what I put on people as well. So for some it is their life and they live as they wish. In the end it will be those who need to worry, so why should yoy be the one to cast the first stone. Does that make you any better than them. Look in the mirror and ask yourself ,Who am I to Judge unless I be judged by the same judgement.!!
people isreal?
