    Hello Skip,

No, it's not just you. I often feel the same way. But who are we but broken vessels needing to be mended? I believe that mending (KATARTIDZO) is a lifetime process. God is mending us each and every day. All we have to do is submit to Him and be faithful, as He is faithful in His promises to us.

I'd like to share with you from a biblical Greek perspective what I've learned about loving the Lord thy God with all thy heart, soul, and mind, and loving our neighbor as ourselves. Our English bible makes it sound like the Lord is commanding us to go out and do these things. But how can we? We can't. That word love is the word AGAPE. In the flesh we cannot produce that type of love. Only God's Spirit can produce that love.

In the Greek text, those two "commandments" are not written in the command form. They are written as statements of fact. What it is telling us is that when God's Spirit comes into our lives, we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind. And we will love our neighbor as ourselves. It's a statement of fact.

We often think that God commanded us to go out and love our neighbor. So what do we do? In the flesh, we go out and try to fulfill that love. And then we fail because the flesh cannot produce that type of love. You see, God is not commanding us to go out and love. He's telling us that we will love. It's a statement of fact. It's His Spirit that gives us the capacity to love Him and to love our neighbor.

Yes, Matthew 5:48 says "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." The Greek word for perfect means to function in purpose. You see, Jesus gives the example that God the Father, He makes the rain fall on the just and the unjust. He is no respecter of persons.

So He says that we, under the influence of God's Spirit, should be just like Him, Jesus, because that is what Jesus does. And so He is the representative of God's love.

Thanks for sharing that we are His sheep. Amen!

Thank you for your love. God will justly lay conviction on our hearts and lives to bring needed changes regarding our needs (my needs). Thankfully it will not be us that has to cherry pick.which weights cloud our relationship with Jesus and interfere with His message to "Come". We just have to be obedient to the Spirit and there will be grace made available. God loves us, enough to cleanse our minds even those minds who are saved while rime remains. That we can be bold to carry these burdens to Him and not let our hearts be overtaken.

    Amen, Jesse,

When asked the greatest commandment, Jesus replied, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Mat 22:37-40.

Maybe it's just me, but I have failed this many times each day of my life!

Jesus ended part of his Sermon on the Mount with these words, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Mat 5:48.

    Me, not even close!

But don't loose heart. Jesus also said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand."Joh 10:27-29.

Jesus call these sheep, and me, MY sheep.

"ALL that the Father giveth me SHALL COME TO ME; and him that cometh to me I WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT. For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me. And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of ALL which he hath given me I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING, but should raise it up again at the last day. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day."Joh 6:37-40.

"And this is the record, that God HATH given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that HATH the Son HATH life; and he that HATH NOT the Son of God HATH NOT life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1Jn 5:11-13.

I think there are many quotes that Christians use that are not found in the Bible, Jesus dying for sin, past, present, and future being one of them.

Even though that quote is not found in scripture, I believe the concept is there. I believe Jesus died for all my sin.

Peter said in 1 Peter 2:24 that Jesus bore our sins (plural) in His body on the cross.

The way I see it is that I wasn't even born yet when Jesus died on the cross and bore my sins (all my sins).

Jesus knew me before I was even born. He knew the day I would be born, He knows the day I will die.

He knew I would be born into this world a sinner. He knew that one day I would receive Him. He knew every sin I committed prior to surrendering my life to Him. And He knows every sin I will commit from this day forward.

I believe The blood He shed on the cross covered all my sin. Whether a believer says "past, present, and future sin," or Jesus died for my sins like Peter said, I think the concept is the same.

If I commit a sin in the future, which I know I will, I believe Jesus died for that also. There is so much power in the blood He shed, and I believe that blood covers all my sins.

I know it is not a license to go out and sin, and God forbid if anyone thinks that way. If a believer thinks they can go out and sin because they are covered, God is going to deal with that believer, and sometimes His discipline can be very harsh.

Please know that like you, I don't wish to argue here. I just wanted to share my thoughts on sin. We often sin without even realizing we are sinning. Thankfully for all of us, God's grace is greater than our sin!

Hello Richard, There are many sins that there is power for a born again believer to live above. For example using replacement words for curse words especially ones that sound similar to God or Jesus. Is it not a sin to offend a little one? What about offending one's wife or a brother in a Church or the neighbor next door? How many Christians with power cannot find the grace to say they are sorry and reconcile to the best of their might to make things right again. What about divorce as a Christian? What about smoking or drinking, even once to excess? What about anger? What about paying Cesar what is due? What about turning the eye from even the possibility of lust? What about modesty? What about simplicity? What about economy? What do we as Christians allow ourselves that may be sinful and weaken our Christian witness? What about favoritism, racism, entitlements and pride? One thing common to man is to blame others and hold others for something they have no power themselves to avoid. But God knows! Legalism is one ditch while liberalism is another. Whose ditch is it? The light Skip mentioned is the true light that came down from heaven and it shines it's beam in darkness to give hope to those who will perish if they do not repent and believe in Jesus.

Perhaps we agree in this matter, it is hard to tell.

I have seen people state Jesus Christ died for past, present, and future sins. I have never seen this quote in Scripture. I have two verses, two different books and writers, that state quite clear that Christ died for our past sins. Perceive as in Romans Paul talks about our old person is crucified with Christ. So we can walk in newness of life and not serve sin,let not sin reign in your mortal bodies and obey the lusts of the flesh, to not yield our members as instruments unto unrighteousness unto sin!!

Also stating that "God forbid" you sin because of being under the grace of God. This is the same Paul who wrote the verses some people perceive as "believe & have faith in Jesus Christ and your sealed". Basically people stating it doesn't matter if you sin or not.

Like I stated to another person: I hope you're right. In no way, shape, or form do I see this teaching in the Holy Bible. The earliest teachings of Christ were "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand".

It seems some perceive us who have a zeal to follow Christ, and actually try to separate from the sins of this world, that we are trying to earn our salvation. This is incorrect. For me and other true children of God anyway. The reason I actually try to keep myself away from sin, thanks to the Holy Ghost, is because it is the Will of our Father in Heaven. God never condones sin. He loves the sinner(people/His creation) but hates sin.

We are not taking anything away from our Lord and none of us will ever be "perfect". Jesus Christ was our perfect example and we should try to follow Him. Do you love the Lord or the sins of this world??

I am not posting this to get into an argument. Would you put your soul on the line that it's ok to sin or doesn't matter? Even if I was wrong and I didn't have to repent and strive to separate myself from the sins of this world for the Lord. For me it doesn't matter. I'm not doing it for myself. I do it to honor and glorify our Father. Let your light shine!

Do you suppose this lady always followed Jesus after this, I would say yes. Why is it so hard for most of us who knew better but lived a life of sin, why is it so hard for us to believe that Jesus will forgive us, why is it so difficult for us to accept his forgiveness? I heard a preacher say once that those who have a hard time forgiving others also have a hard time accepting Gods forgiveness because we have a imperfect view of what God has done.

Simon the Pharisee, thinking to be shrewd, invites Jesus over to his home for a meal. The reasons why people try to manipulate their relationship with God are always rooted in pride. While the invitation appears to be welcoming and genuine. Further reading shows the inner contempt Simon holds toward his Savior. Lack of common courtesies shown guests (washing of feet, the kiss of greeting, and, to a lesser extent, anointing with oil). A subtle sarcasm in his dialogue with Christ (v. 40 and v. 43).

Perhaps Simon allowed the entry of the woman of sordid reputation to attempt to tarnish or bring reproach upon Jesus' influence in the region. While this is only speculation, the result was not what Simon expected from Him.

Our thoughts are not our own with Jesus. He knows them before they even enter our minds. Simon had failed to believe Jesus and His deity and authority based on prejudice and willing ignorance. Two aspects that accompany all those who are ultimately damned to hell.

The woman knew her need and the source to get it met. Without prompting, she knew what she had to do. No one would deny her and shame or embarrassment would not hinder her from completing the task at hand. True faith is always accompanied by obedience throughout the Bible and even so today.

Ironically, while the woman's name was never recorded for our benefit in His book here, we know she was registered in the Book of Life in the place where she now resides. Her testimony is eternal, as is Simon's folly.

The Christmas season is a time to celebrate the wondrous works of the Lord. When Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, God visited mankind through his precious Son Jesus. Mary was favored by God and the angel of the Lord told her that she would conceive in her womb, and bring forth a Son whose name shall be Jesus (St. Luke 1:30-31). He shall be great and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and he shall have the throne of David (St. Luke 1:32-35). David was a king anointed by God. However, Jesus' reign and throne is forever. He is the greatest King and his kingdom has no end. The angel told Mary, The Holy Ghost (God's Spirit) shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest (God) shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Jesus was conceived holy, born holy, lived holy, died holy, was resurrected holy, and reigns holy on his throne with his holy angels in heaven. This is complete and magnificent holiness. Jesus is God's gift to mankind. Through Jesus, God redeems us and guides us through all truth (the Word of God). Jesus shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Prince of Peace, and the Everlasting Father. Of his kingdom there shall be no end. Jesus shall save his people from their sins (Matt.1:21). We can all be saved because of the obedience and suffering of Jesus. Let us swiftly seize upon the opportunity to have salvation -- it is free. Just ask Jesus to help you, and He will save and preserve your soul. Jesus is our Saviour. He makes us whole. All power is given unto Him in heaven and in earth, by God. When we serve Him, He is always with us unto the end of the world ( Matt. 28:18-20). Worship the Lord and receive His blessings each day.

The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. ( Luke 16:16)

This is referring to John the Baptist, and signifies that John was the end of the old disposition and the forerunner of God's new testament in Jesus Christ.

For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. ( Luke 7:28)

    1. I do believe the Corona Virus was made by mankind, and then gotten released by the Chinese Communist Party leaders and there is no honest reporting in how the corona Virus was released accidental. The matter was released, covered from the world, and even the World Health Organization covered for the C.C.P. leaders. Where did this Corona Virus come from, what countries had the Corona Virus, was this Corona Virus part of Bio-chemical Research Warfare or released to find or do a cure research? The rich and Pharmacy Market are going to profit by getting a successful cure. The C.C.P. had this type of Corona Virus secretly, and in due time it was accidental released with no official civil or legal consequences. This Corona Virus spread world wide, millions have died by a accidental release, the Globalist must be happy the world's population has gone down somewhat. Maybe the Globalist will use Biochemical to depopulate systematic. There are yet 7 vials, bowls or judgements or plagues to come upon this earth ending in Rev..16:17-21; 2. It is written brethren can only be righteous still or holy still in Rev.22:11; I have never met a holy Christian that claim he or she was perfect, and did not sin anymore. I have heard some Christian talk about love a lot, but they do not love in word or deed. They claim to love God, but they do not obey God. You would think someone that sinned much would love or obey God more.-read Luke 7:40-47; They love to sing songs of love, but they also sing foolish songs or songs that make no sense. Like the words in the song, Friend of Jesus or Friendship with Jesus. People meet in church, in a darken room, with dim lights, shaken their heads with their hair following their head shaken in the same direction. It is like you are in a dim light rock and roll concert, people moving to the flow of the fast music.

Great understanding of the term willful sin. John Wesley use to use those terms in the 1700's. The understanding of sin, that was not of the heart, not willful, no intent and no motive of premeditated thought. Yes a involuntary sin but not from a heart that's been purified by the Holy Ghost. But it still has to be recognized, asked forgiveness for and stay clean and holy.
  • Carleton on Luke 7:23 - 4 years ago
A repentant experience by a born again believer requires faith not only in Jesus Christ and his blood bought sacrifice for the remission of one's sins but also faith that he will forgive our sins and that he will send the Holy Spirit as proof of his forgiveness and this Holy Spirit is peace and love dwelling in one's heart.

For some reason this conversion to a new life with power over willful sin can be offensive to some that call themselves Christian.

From my reading of the word, with the Holy Spirit's help, there seems to me to be nothing that says we will be taken out of here before Christ's return. The question of two being together and one taken away is answered by Christ with his saying that the one taken is taken to where the eagles gather and where the eagles are, there the slain are. Also Job 39:40 talks about that place of the eagles being where the slain are. Ephesians 1:20 says when we are saved, immediately we are seated in

Christ in the Heavens (the New Heavens ) where we are blessed with all spiritual blessings in high places. Although we don't feel it right now, we're already there. We are Christ's bride. Rev 21:2. We ARE the New Jerusalem so when Christ returns, there we are with him. Rev 21:10. He comes here to earth WITH the New Jerusalem, gathers up to us those who are remaining here on the earth and CONTINUES to come down to the earth where we will rule with him here on the earth and kings and judges for 1000 years. Nowhere does it say he comes down and then returns back up, but rather proceeds to come down here TO RULE for 1000 years. This is the truth as I have read it from the Word of God, Jesus Christ. He IS the Word of God, the Holy Scriptures, and he is alive, the living Word.

Jesus tells us plainly in Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed (weeds) tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST first the TARES (WEEDS) tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST first the TARES (WEEDS) tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

(first the tares WEEDS get gathered, then the wheat last) could it be any more plain than this?) Did Jesus mess up the timing of end time events? (first the tares WEEDS get gathered, wheat last)

Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

    37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

    38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

I'm sorry I didn't answer that question. Jesus' mission at that point was to preach the gospel to Israel, demonstrating his power through mighty works. The word "meet" is Old English meaning appropriate or suitable. So he is saying that granting her request would be taking his blessing, reserved at that time for the Jews (the children), his current mission field, and giving it away to outsiders (the dogs).

    Kags,

If the feet of the Messiah do not touch the earth at His return, how do you explain Zechariah 14:4?

"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

Also, if the body of Christ is taken out before the Tribulation, then who are those that endure until the end? ( Mark 13:27, 1 Corinthians 15:52)

He that endureth to the END shall be saved ( Matthew 10:22)

So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, ( Mark 13:49)

Are we not told that it "is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully" ( 1 Peter 2:19).

    Carolyn,

Jesus said it is not meet, that is, it is not right to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. Now what if your pastor called you a dog? You know, "Get out of my way you dog!"

But here is what Jesus was referring to:

You see, the Jews considered Gentiles to be dogs. To the Jews, Gentiles were considered "religious dogs." So Jesus is saying it is not right to take the children's food and give it to the dogs.

But look at the piety of this woman in Verse 27: Remember that this Gentile woman was coming to Jesus to help her daughter.

And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

This is the piety of this woman, her humbleness, her submission. It is not the fact that she wouldn't take no for an answer. She needed help!

But the Lord was putting her in a situation so that it would show her motives. You know, how much do you want help for your daughter?

Actually Jesus was calling her a puppy (kynarion) under the table, not so much to demean her, but to develop an object lesson. The Jews, by reason of the covenant and their works of the law, considered themselves to be "in" with God and all others to be outsiders. Jesus upended this construct by demonstrating that the exercise of genuine faith in Jesus Christ is what actually pleases God.
