In common understanding of the word, it means 'to express a sharp, stern disapproval; to reprove or reprimand'.
The word doesn't appear in Luke 9:21, so I'll give some other Scriptures that show various uses of the word:
a. Matthew 8:26: Jesus gave out a clear command to the elements.
b. Matthew 17:18: Jesus issued a Divine authoritative Command against the Devil.
c. Luke 9:55: Jesus was stern & gave a strong correction to the disciples' ignorance & presumption.
d. Mark 8:33: Jesus scolded Peter (at least the spirit working in & through him), for challenging the mission that Jesus was on. Peter had (in verse 32) rebuked (challenged) Jesus on that point.
So these few examples might show you how the word 'rebuke' was being used during Jesus' Ministry.
"And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;" Luk 9:21 (KJVA)
This happened right after Jesus, who asked His disciples, "Whom say the people that I am?" And Peter replied, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
There is no explicit reason given why Jesus commanded their silence. But the disciples needed to understand who the Messiah really was and exactly what he would do before they were ready to proclaim Jesus as The Christ, The Son of The Living God. But they and the people had an expectation that needed some instruction to be correct.
Even after all the instruction Jesus gave them and three warnings that we was going to have to die, the disciples didn't get it. For instance John records Peter and John running to the tomb after The Resurrection. "Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."Joh 20:6-9 (KJVA)
And then at the Ascension. "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Act 1:6-7 (KJVA)
It is likely the man was seeking to gain his inheritance from his dying father. His time would be better spent in the eyes of god spreading the word and saving living souls.
There have been many opinions on this verse, indeed on this letter. The truth of the matter is that we don't know her name - it's not given anywhere in Scripture, & some even believing that the 'elect lady' actually refers to a Church & 'her children' being the congregation.
Those that have attempted to give her a name, have simply used the Greek definition for "elect" (eklekte) & "lady" (Kuria) & so named her. But there is no certainty of this. We could also see a similar use of naming folk in Mark 3:17: "And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder." Because of their 'thunderous boldness' ( Luke 9:54, Mark 9:38), Jesus referred to them as 'Boanerges' (Ben-regesh).
One could also assume that John referred to the "elect lady" (Eklekte Kuria) as such because it was not common to refer to women directly by name in a personal letter but he did so inferring her piety & kindness shown other believers, particularly to itinerant preachers passing by her way. Thus the warning also goes out to her about false Christs bringing false doctrines & teaching, even as he warned believers in his first epistle. Yet in his third epistle, John openly referred to Gaius (a man) by name with a similar testimony of his service as was shown by the elect lady in 2 John.
Ron, I agree with you completely: without the Holy Spirit's help, the Word of God is only a Book of Words & our preaching could be a just a display of oratory skills. In 1 Thessalonians 1:5 which you shared, Paul said that he gave them the Gospel not just in clear & concise teaching, but with, & in demonstration of, the Spirit's Power. So, it's all of God: the Word/Gospel shared, the power within it & in its delivery, & for the interpretation & conviction in the hearts of the hearers. We're merely the humble & weak tools in the Hands of God to bring forth such a wonderful, heart & life changing Message.
Christ's disciples, in their 'raw' state had not the Spirit of God, except when they were specially endued for service ( Luke 9:1). They had both the pure Word of God & His Spirit amongst them that radically altered their conceptions & misconceptions of God's requirements for them & the people. They then had the knowledge but minus the Power. What a time that would have been for them on the day of Pentecost. Both the hearer (when they heard messages in their languages as witness of the outpouring of the Spirit), & the apostles themselves (as they suddenly sensed the entrance of the Spirit to bring them brilliant Light & understanding into their hearts), would have had an experience 'of a lifetime' in that room. And the witness they had of the Lord & His Spirit not only empowered them, but emboldened them, to be His witnesses unto the laying down of their lives. Do we see, or can we see, such a display of Holy Ghost Power & conviction? It might not always be seen overtly but certainly seen in the believers' confidence & resolve to live for & serve the Living God.

The Jews generally pray facing Jerusalem, as Muslims do facing Mecca. The Scripture that Jews use to support this is found in 1 Kings 8:35,36: "When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them: Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance".

When Jesus prayed, He looked up towards Heaven, even though He was in Jerusalem when He could have faced the Temple. ( John 17:1). Also, Luke 9:16. However, when the eyes of the Jews are opened & they see, recognize & put their faith in Jesus Christ, then their eyes will no longer be turned to Jerusalem.
"Yes, the Bible assures us that Heaven is a place of absolute happiness and joy and peace-far greater than anything we'll ever experience right now. Do those in Heaven know what's happening on earth? The Bible doesn't answer all our questions about Heaven-but it does indicate that those who have already entered Heaven may be aware of events on earth. The book of Hebrews, for example, pictures life as a great arena, with those who have gone before us cheering us on in our daily spiritual struggles (see Hebrews 12:1).
Once when Jesus' appearance was changed and His heavenly glory shone through, Moses and Elijah spoke with Him about events on the earth (see Luke 9:30-31).

No, not at all. For one thing, they (unlike us) see the whole picture; they know that even in the midst of life's heartaches and trials, God is still working behind the scenes. Rose, I'm just taking this portion from Luke 9:57-62, which sees Jesus speaking to three men about following Him in ministry. To the first man, Jesus challenges him that this lifestyle will be rough going without any certainty of shelter. Will you still follow Me? We assume that this man turned back.
Then Jesus asks another, "Follow Me". But his response was, "Give me leave to first bury my father". Here we see the urgency of the ministry: this man wanted to spend time with his father, maybe he was already in old age, & then after his death, the man would follow Jesus. But Jesus' Words, 'let the dead bury their dead' might seem harsh to us, but the urgency of the ministry is before him. One cannot wait for a loved to die, or for the kids to grow up & be married, or even enjoy some relaxing holidays as a family, before answering the call to serve; though losing a loved one is both sad & important, the call to serve in the Gospel is of greater importance. So leave your father with those who don't have the love of God in their hearts nor any desire to serve God: they will look after him & his eventual funeral arrangements.
Then the next man gave the excuse to go first to his house to bid farewell to his loved ones. This seems like a proper thing to do & shouldn't take too long. But Jesus seeing his heart, knew that procrastination often leads to nothing being accomplished. This man would spend many days seeing & fare-welling everybody - then there will be those who would challenge him if this was the right thing to do - think of your grieving family, your profession, your future marriage, etc. It wouldn't take much to convince him to weaken his desire to follow Jesus as "he looks back at what could have been his in this life".
The call of the Lord requires a sincere willingness & singleness of heart & purpose to be effective in the Kingdom.
I think what Jesus is saying is, like plowing with a mule you must remain looking forward. Keeping the rows straight, not letting the mule get distracted or frightened. Mules sometimes need blinders on the side of thier eyes. We must keep going forward to God, not looking to the side or behind us. Not getting distracted or frightened. We ourselves sometimes need blinders to keep from temptations. It's very easy to get distracted from God. So we must work towards God as if we are using a plow trying to reach the end of a row in a field, keeping our sights on God, not straying from side to side or looking behind us. I myself have watched men plowing with mules, and they paid no attention to what I was doing off to the side or behind them. They focused ahead.

You are correct, mankind is lost. The Word of God teaches us so in Revelation 12:9 and the Word is God. are you going to argue with God over things you are not able to understand? Look at the context of this verse. The one sin that won't be forgiven is to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit. Right before Jesus said this, he said that those who deny Him (Jesus) before men will be denied eternal life. To deny Jesus is to blaspheme against the Holy Spirit, and that sin will not be forgiven.
If we deny Christ, we were never saved to begin with, and we are denied eternal life.

The disciples could cast out all devil's because jesus gave them the power to do it in mark 6.13 And they cast out many devil's and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them But they could not cast out the devil because this job was for jesus only John 18.37 pilate therefore said unto him Art thou a king then? There are not too many songs being heard in Eastern Canada, similar to California, but for different reasons. People that make their livelihood of the leading industries have their food basket slowly taken away. China has closed the borders to most products (e.g. lobster) and farmers have little to harvest as a result of the severe drought. The rural communities have been dying for the last ten years and the list of businesses that are closing is staggering. It is clear by your comments that you do not know what 'sin' is. It is not an act as you have been made to believe, but rather the 'fruit of the natural man' and is the very reason we urge you to repent. It means to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).
Hospitals are a 'stronghold' ( 2 Cor. 10:4) of Satan's divided kingdom and his world ( Matthew 12:26; Luke 4:6; 11:18; John 12:31; 14:30; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; 6:12; 1John 3:8) and the love you speak of is the love of the world and we know that you have not the love of God in you ( John 5:42).
So our message will remain the same: ye must repent.
The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).
For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( John 14:17).

Tina, God will always have a remnant that will follow Him, strive to be holy & be faithful to Him even unto death. Luke 9:23, 14:27, 1 Corinthians 1:18. These are those who take up their cross daily & have their eyes & hearts constantly focused on their Saviour. We see all that's happening in the world with sadness & horror, but we know that the work of Satan has been going on since Eden & has been increasing ever since. I sometimes wonder what state the world would be in had Christ not come & the Gospel not gone out into all the world. Of course, had that happened, God would probably have closed the curtains of this corrupted creation as it was only the coming of our Lord at the appointed time that spared the Arm of the Lord from destroying the world. His mercies to us were great, without which we would indeed be consumed.
Yet, even though we are quick to accuse people for their ungodliness, immorality & rampant sin, we see a lot of contributing factors, to which Satan has a foothold. A baby is born in innocence, with a sin nature, but with no knowledge of error. Bad parenting, atheistic misguided governments & disregard to the Holy Scriptures have majorly contributed to our grievous immorality. Not that we would have been freed from the things that you speak of, but godliness would have been the order of the day, clear moral directives & boundaries set & crimes against God & society would be dealt with correctly. All this of course, will never happen as Satan has full control of the minds & lives of the majority.
Yet the Gospel of Jesus has gone out & many lives have been saved & turned towards holy living, yet I have this nagging thought, was the Gospel only meant to be the means for a personal life turnaround, or to also strongly influence society with the requirements of God? Some have attempted to do so, but as a whole, we have failed as Christians. We have failed to stand for Truth & Righteousness & thus have to bear some responsibility for our lot.
Verily I say unto you ... - To encourage them, he assured them that, though his kingdom was now obscure and despised - though he was cast out and little known - yet the time was near when he would be regarded in a different manner, and his kingdom be established with great power.
This cannot refer to the end of the world, and there is no need of referring it to the destruction of Jerusalem.
Taste of death - That is, die. Before they die they shall see this.
Son of man coming in his kingdom - Mark and Luke have explained this: Mark 9:1, "Until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power;" Luke 9:27, "Till they see the kingdom of God." The meaning evidently is, "till they shall see my kingdom," i. e., my church, now small, feeble, and despised, greatly enlarged, established, and spreading with great rapidity and extent. All this was accomplished. All these apostles, except Judas, lived to see the wonders of the day of Pentecost; some of them, John particularly, saw the Jewish nation scattered, the temple destroyed, the gospel established in Asia, Rome, Greece, and in a large part of the known world.
This commentary better describes what this scripture realistically means. These things happened before all the disciples (except John) had been killed.
This is such a controversial topic among Christians, some Christians believe the idea of Once Saved Always Saved and some don't. However, I believe that it is possible to lose salvation. Sin is a separation from God. Repenting is turning away from sin. When you repent, you have the free will of overcoming sin and not committing sin willfully. Jesus told the woman to "... go and sin no more" ( John 8:11), it wasn't, "go and try not to sin". Jesus gave parables about heaven that prove salvation can be lost ( Matthew 12, Luke 9:62, Rev 3:16, Rev 3:5, Rev 2:7). I believe the road to salvation is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repenting to overcome your sin and abide.
The word doesn't appear in Luke 9:21, so I'll give some other Scriptures that show various uses of the word:
a. Matthew 8:26: Jesus gave out a clear command to the elements.
b. Matthew 17:18: Jesus issued a Divine authoritative Command against the Devil.
c. Luke 9:55: Jesus was stern & gave a strong correction to the disciples' ignorance & presumption.
d. Mark 8:33: Jesus scolded Peter (at least the spirit working in & through him), for challenging the mission that Jesus was on. Peter had (in verse 32) rebuked (challenged) Jesus on that point.
So these few examples might show you how the word 'rebuke' was being used during Jesus' Ministry.
"And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;" Luk 9:21 (KJVA)
This happened right after Jesus, who asked His disciples, "Whom say the people that I am?" And Peter replied, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."
There is no explicit reason given why Jesus commanded their silence. But the disciples needed to understand who the Messiah really was and exactly what he would do before they were ready to proclaim Jesus as The Christ, The Son of The Living God. But they and the people had an expectation that needed some instruction to be correct.
Even after all the instruction Jesus gave them and three warnings that we was going to have to die, the disciples didn't get it. For instance John records Peter and John running to the tomb after The Resurrection. "Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself. Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed. For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead."Joh 20:6-9 (KJVA)
And then at the Ascension. "When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power." Act 1:6-7 (KJVA)
Those that have attempted to give her a name, have simply used the Greek definition for "elect" (eklekte) & "lady" (Kuria) & so named her. But there is no certainty of this. We could also see a similar use of naming folk in Mark 3:17: "And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder." Because of their 'thunderous boldness' ( Luke 9:54, Mark 9:38), Jesus referred to them as 'Boanerges' (Ben-regesh).
One could also assume that John referred to the "elect lady" (Eklekte Kuria) as such because it was not common to refer to women directly by name in a personal letter but he did so inferring her piety & kindness shown other believers, particularly to itinerant preachers passing by her way. Thus the warning also goes out to her about false Christs bringing false doctrines & teaching, even as he warned believers in his first epistle. Yet in his third epistle, John openly referred to Gaius (a man) by name with a similar testimony of his service as was shown by the elect lady in 2 John.
Christ's disciples, in their 'raw' state had not the Spirit of God, except when they were specially endued for service ( Luke 9:1). They had both the pure Word of God & His Spirit amongst them that radically altered their conceptions & misconceptions of God's requirements for them & the people. They then had the knowledge but minus the Power. What a time that would have been for them on the day of Pentecost. Both the hearer (when they heard messages in their languages as witness of the outpouring of the Spirit), & the apostles themselves (as they suddenly sensed the entrance of the Spirit to bring them brilliant Light & understanding into their hearts), would have had an experience 'of a lifetime' in that room. And the witness they had of the Lord & His Spirit not only empowered them, but emboldened them, to be His witnesses unto the laying down of their lives. Do we see, or can we see, such a display of Holy Ghost Power & conviction? It might not always be seen overtly but certainly seen in the believers' confidence & resolve to live for & serve the Living God.

When Jesus prayed, He looked up towards Heaven, even though He was in Jerusalem when He could have faced the Temple. ( John 17:1). Also, Luke 9:16. However, when the eyes of the Jews are opened & they see, recognize & put their faith in Jesus Christ, then their eyes will no longer be turned to Jerusalem.
Do those in Heaven know what's happening on earth? The Bible doesn't answer all our questions about Heaven-but it does indicate that those who have already entered Heaven may be aware of events on earth. The book of Hebrews, for example, pictures life as a great arena, with those who have gone before us cheering us on in our daily spiritual struggles (see Hebrews 12:1).
Once when Jesus' appearance was changed and His heavenly glory shone through, Moses and Elijah spoke with Him about events on the earth (see Luke 9:30-31).
Does this mean people in Heaven are sad when evil seems to be winning the day?
No, not at all. For one thing, they (unlike us) see the whole picture; they know that even in the midst of life's heartaches and trials, God is still working behind the scenes. They also know that Satan is a defeated foe, and some day all evil will be destroyed and Christ will rule in perfect peace and justice."

Who better to answer this question? I've seen the scriptures mentioned. I always think of them cheering us onward. To avoid pity parties with myself. To never doubt what the Word teaches. Mishael
Then Jesus asks another, "Follow Me". But his response was, "Give me leave to first bury my father". Here we see the urgency of the ministry: this man wanted to spend time with his father, maybe he was already in old age, & then after his death, the man would follow Jesus. But Jesus' Words, 'let the dead bury their dead' might seem harsh to us, but the urgency of the ministry is before him. One cannot wait for a loved to die, or for the kids to grow up & be married, or even enjoy some relaxing holidays as a family, before answering the call to serve; though losing a loved one is both sad & important, the call to serve in the Gospel is of greater importance. So leave your father with those who don't have the love of God in their hearts nor any desire to serve God: they will look after him & his eventual funeral arrangements.
Then the next man gave the excuse to go first to his house to bid farewell to his loved ones. This seems like a proper thing to do & shouldn't take too long. But Jesus seeing his heart, knew that procrastination often leads to nothing being accomplished. This man would spend many days seeing & fare-welling everybody - then there will be those who would challenge him if this was the right thing to do - think of your grieving family, your profession, your future marriage, etc. It wouldn't take much to convince him to weaken his desire to follow Jesus as "he looks back at what could have been his in this life".
The call of the Lord requires a sincere willingness & singleness of heart & purpose to be effective in the Kingdom.
Matthew 18:3-5 are good verses of that instance:
"And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me."

You are correct, mankind is lost. The Word of God teaches us so in Revelation 12:9 and the Word is God. are you going to argue with God over things you are not able to understand? The content of our website just explains how and by whom you have been deceived and what you must do to be reunited with the true and living God and how you are able to come to know the true Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Rev. 12:9).
Since you know not what manner of spirit you are of ( Luke 9:55), our message remains the same: Ye must repent and invite you to study what it means. If you are able to understand what it means to 'Repent' you will also be able to understand the Word of God and the content of our website. Right now it is all just a storybook, while in truth it is 'spiritually' discerned ( 1 Cor. 2:14).

We've heard how the disciples didn't do so good their first time out all day long. Know why?
The Holy Spirit hadn't fallen on them yet. They had to wait till Pentecost. But they had seen Jesus do it. Jesus told them: heal the sick , cast out demons, cleanse the leper's. Freely you have received, freely give.
We're supposed to be learning this stuff!
There are many good Teachers on FM Radio you could be listening to. They've all been teaching on Ephesians 6. Demons and spirits are invisible. Can you fight something invisible?
Do you know what your Sword of the Spirit is?? Is it big or little? It is your knowledge of scripture: that is your sword.
David killed Goliath with a rock. But he saw that rock pierce Goliaths head and enter his brain. Goliath blasphemed The God of Israel and David could not stand by and eat all that ridicule. He had a deep relationship with God. That he got by spending time in Gods presence.

There are not too many songs being heard in Eastern Canada, similar to California, but for different reasons. People that make their livelihood of the leading industries have their food basket slowly taken away. China has closed the borders to most products (e.g. lobster) and farmers have little to harvest as a result of the severe drought. The rural communities have been dying for the last ten years and the list of businesses that are closing is staggering. It is clear by your comments that you do not know what 'sin' is. It is not an act as you have been made to believe, but rather the 'fruit of the natural man' and is the very reason we urge you to repent. It means to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).
Hospitals are a 'stronghold' ( 2 Cor. 10:4) of Satan's divided kingdom and his world ( Matthew 12:26; Luke 4:6; 11:18; John 12:31; 14:30; 2 Cor. 4:4; Eph. 2:2; 6:12; 1John 3:8) and the love you speak of is the love of the world and we know that you have not the love of God in you ( John 5:42).
So our message will remain the same: ye must repent.
The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).
For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( John 14:17).

He that is spiritual judgeth (discerneth) all things, yet he himself is judged by no man ( 1 Cor. 2:15).

The Word of God is God ( John 1:1) and the scriptural references we use serve as confirmation that it is not us that speak, but the Spirit of our Father that speaketh in us ( 2 Samuel 23:2; Matthew 10:20; Acts 4:8; 6:10).
Why do ye not understand me? Please read 1 Cor. 2:14 and John 8:43-45 and you will learn who erred.
We must now shake the dust of our feet and continue our communication with those where our work may be fruitful ( Matthew 10:14; Mark 6:11; Luke 9:5) and please remember: Ye must repent and turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

Yet, even though we are quick to accuse people for their ungodliness, immorality & rampant sin, we see a lot of contributing factors, to which Satan has a foothold. A baby is born in innocence, with a sin nature, but with no knowledge of error. Bad parenting, atheistic misguided governments & disregard to the Holy Scriptures have majorly contributed to our grievous immorality. Not that we would have been freed from the things that you speak of, but godliness would have been the order of the day, clear moral directives & boundaries set & crimes against God & society would be dealt with correctly. All this of course, will never happen as Satan has full control of the minds & lives of the majority.
Yet the Gospel of Jesus has gone out & many lives have been saved & turned towards holy living, yet I have this nagging thought, was the Gospel only meant to be the means for a personal life turnaround, or to also strongly influence society with the requirements of God? Some have attempted to do so, but as a whole, we have failed as Christians. We have failed to stand for Truth & Righteousness & thus have to bear some responsibility for our lot.
Verily I say unto you ... - To encourage them, he assured them that, though his kingdom was now obscure and despised - though he was cast out and little known - yet the time was near when he would be regarded in a different manner, and his kingdom be established with great power.
This cannot refer to the end of the world, and there is no need of referring it to the destruction of Jerusalem.
Taste of death - That is, die. Before they die they shall see this.
Son of man coming in his kingdom - Mark and Luke have explained this: Mark 9:1, "Until they have seen the kingdom of God come with power;" Luke 9:27, "Till they see the kingdom of God." The meaning evidently is, "till they shall see my kingdom," i. e., my church, now small, feeble, and despised, greatly enlarged, established, and spreading with great rapidity and extent. All this was accomplished. All these apostles, except Judas, lived to see the wonders of the day of Pentecost; some of them, John particularly, saw the Jewish nation scattered, the temple destroyed, the gospel established in Asia, Rome, Greece, and in a large part of the known world.
This commentary better describes what this scripture realistically means. These things happened before all the disciples (except John) had been killed.
This is such a controversial topic among Christians, some Christians believe the idea of Once Saved Always Saved and some don't. However, I believe that it is possible to lose salvation. Sin is a separation from God. Repenting is turning away from sin. When you repent, you have the free will of overcoming sin and not committing sin willfully. Jesus told the woman to "... go and sin no more" ( John 8:11), it wasn't, "go and try not to sin". Jesus gave parables about heaven that prove salvation can be lost ( Matthew 12, Luke 9:62, Rev 3:16, Rev 3:5, Rev 2:7). I believe the road to salvation is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, repenting to overcome your sin and abide.
