Hello everyone to know the truth of God word, Jesus gave the keys to Peter in Matthew 16:18-19 and on the day of Pentecost Peter used those keys when he was asked a question What must we do ? In Acts 2:36-47 read these scriptures and with a sincere heart get to a private place to pray and ask God if this Holy Ghost is real today ? Repent for all of yours sins first then ask him if it 's real to allow you to be filled with his spirit which is the Holy Ghost. I promise you will not regret it, whats wrong with trying it for yourself or how can you go wrong talking to the one upon the throne ? Do it for your own soul. Stay in prayer asking for God presence and don 't be afraid. God Bless everyone!

Peter and rock don 't pun in Aramaic and Peter didn 't speak Greek. This is a fabrication, the Nazarene was a Jewish rabbi and very happy with his faith! This would be anathema to Joshua, ne the Christ.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 5:24 And they that are Christ 's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Manybe this will help explain verse 24 for you.

Jesus saw their faith while their discussing and remind them of what happens if faith is at work. faith is the only weapon that a person can use in any situation.

Verse 24 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. " is the verse I 'm wanting to better understand. I know Jesus died on the cross for my sins. Thus, can anyone provide Scripture that will define what this "...take up his cross... " means in this verse?

It was my grandfathers favorite verse in the Bible and as I read it I now see the importance as I have gotten older. It is a verse to really ponder on and take heed! It is so true

a lot has been lost in translations of the bible and i believe matthew 16:16 is an example of one of the cases for misinterpretations. according to the wyncliffe bible, which was the first to be translated into english by john wyncliffe in 1382 and i believe is most likely one of the closest to the real interpretations of the original writings, he does not put the word "living " before god, but AFTER god...which changes the whole meaning....it would mean that simon peter believed jesus was the christ and the son of god, living, or the son of god who came to earth to live and NOT the son of the living god. also, in Matthew 16:17 jesus says that his father is in the heavens....and he does not say his father is living on earth. please refer to matthew 16 in the wyncliff bible please omit the parenthesis that have been added to try to aide in the interpretations, but only serves to contaminate the content with another 's interpretations, and taking it yet further from the original content.

The key for me is in verses 15 and 19. In verse 15 Jesus gave the challenge " but who do you think I am "? We are quick to point the way to others. We are quick to see and hear others but not ourselves. The personal relationship with God is what God requires from us and never a group thing. Who is Jesus to you? Then in verse 19 it becomes clear that only those with a clear understanding of their relationship with Christ will have the revelations from Him. The keys of heaven is given to those who know Him. With this key, you are in charge of this world. You can bind and loose. The keys are for the kingdom use. They must be used for His glory. Know Him and you will have the keys.

A person must not sin simply because he she loves anything in this world. You must think about your soul because the time is coming for everyone to say goodbye to this world. Jesus Christ is true, everyone must look forward where we are going because the world is just an obstacle. Not everyone who says to Jesus Christ "Lord " will get in the kingdom of heaven -because many are Christians but they love the world and everything in it, they ignore the word of God and break his laws to satisfy their wills. AMEN.

Christ was speaking in spiritual things likeness or resemblance and the disciples misunderstood him of carnal flesh, of relating to the body sensual pleasures and appetites things. God wants us to be on the same spiritual path with him. We should understand him by reading reading and knowing his word. Christ teaches by the spirit of wisdom

That wont jive with scripture sir. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus Who concerning the truth have erred, SAYING THAT THE RESURRECTION IS PAST ALREADY and overthrow the faith of some. Also Revelation was written by John around 90 to 96 A.D.

Yahshua promised His disciples that He would return for them within their lifetimes. The apostles fully expected this, and it can be seen by Matt 10:23, Matt 24:29-31, 2 Thess 2, 1 John 2:18, Rev 22:20 and many many other places. He did return in 79 AD at the eruption of Mt Vesuvius to receive the elect. It is not well recorded in history, but it did happen, otherwise Lease is right and He was a liar.

Verse 28 is a reference to what happens in the next chapter with Peter, James, and John. 2 Peter 1:16-18 confirms this without any argument. They got a taste of what will happen when He comes again. The rapture 1 Cor 15:51-55 which was a mystery revealed to Paul will happen first. Then the great tribulation takes place. After that those who were saved BY GRACE THROUGH FAITH and not water baptistm, or tongues, or works, during the chruch age will come back with Him, having already married to Him, see Rev 19:7 where we are already His wife, on white horses, wooooo wee. This is the Second Advent where He treads the winepress of the wrath of God. Matthew 25 's judgment of the nations happens and we will reign with Him 1000 years. Satan is loosened Rev 20:7 dceceives many, is whipped again, vs 9, and the Great White throne Judgment happens. Meanwhile the Father is creating a new Heavens and new Earth. We then begin the age of ages.

Hello Lola and RNM: If you are talking about verse 28 of this chapter. This is not a mystery verse. This is talking about those who are alive and remain during the rapture they will not see a literal death, because they have already experienced a symbolic death through repentance. If you read verse 27 this will give you the picture of his second coming, which some scholars say is twofold. Having two parts first the rapture where he will hang in the clouds and gather the saints who put on his name by following Acts 2: 38 and the second part is when he comes back to fight and bring peace for 1000 years. In the end, these scriptures deal with the future rapture and saints.
  • RNM MATT CHP 16----1 on Matthew 16 - 11 years ago
Lola that is a mysterious verse, but we can agree that the messiah 's coming is going to be something other that normal or ordinary, I believe, which we can get from the scriptures that when he comes. Matt 16 27 For the Son of man shall come in the Glory of His Father with His Angels and then He shall reward every man according to his works. Those to Glory and honor, And those to death damnation and eternal separation from God because of simple DISOBEDIENCE. AMEN!

My comment is on "take up his cross and follow me ". This is the cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified and died. Now if you move about with your cross, you shall be a suitable candidate for paradise, because nothing ungodly shall remain in your life. You shall nail, promiscuity, lies, backbiting etc. These shall all die on the cross which you are carrying. A symbol for "humility just like Jesus Christ " and you are free. Galatians 3 13.

I believe Christ Jesus is telling all the apostles that their teachings, infused by His Holy Spirit will be here on earth the same in heaven, because Christ is the author and finisher of our faith. The Holy Spirit is key to following Jesus not the Roman Catholic Church or any other church that does not follow Christ Jesus thru His Holy Word.

This is powerful stuff, I 'm wondering, how can I live up to all the requierments and expectations of that level , where by , serving God, living by His statutes ? I have been a Christian for 16yrs. I have failed more times than I care to count , but thank God for His grace mercy I 'm still holding on, it 's hard to live in perfectness , but I 'm not giving up.i will continue hoping and trusting in Hm.

What a tragedy it would be for God s children to live for themselves now, in this fleeting, vapor like life, only to discover at the future Judgment Seat of Christ that they had forfeited many eternal blessings God had intended for them. Would it be worth it? Jesus warned on several occasions of the consequences Matt. 10 39 16 25 Mark 8 35 Luke 9 24 17 33 John 12 25 . Those who save now will lose later. The paradox of Christ s teaching is that a believer loses his soul at the Judgment Seat by saving it here and now, in this life that is, by refusing to deny self, take up his cross, and follow Jesus. Instead, he caters to self, avoids hardships and pays lip service to following Jesus, not counting the cost of discipleship. The result is deprivation of millennial rewards and eternal glory.

Build your rock on Jesus Christ foundation, not the cares of this world. Because the world don 't have a solid foundation. Hell can 't prevail against God foundation because it doesn 't have the greater strenght like God power. God is the creator and he gave to whom he wanted too. Remember God is in control.
