Hell testimonies part 3

I would be sadly remiss if I didn't emphasize how we should fear the Lord who can send both body and soul to hell ( Matt. 10:28).

This; in my opinion should elicit a response in the souls of all true believers; as we should be ever greatful for what He did for us on the cross; taking the punishment of God the Father on Himself for our benefit.

What we can do now; however is be ambassadors for the truth; and allow God to make us vessels of reconciliation ( 2 Cor. 5:19).

We cannot save anyone; but are held responsible for the death of others if we don't sound the alarm (see Ezekiel 33). Notice there that they may or may not heed the warning.

One cannot separate the love of God for fear of the Lord; and one cannot appreciate the joys of heaven without realizing the horrors of hell they have been delivered from.

We also have to understand predestination in that regard; if we disagree on certain aspects it is clear that in the end a certain number are saved and sadly it is only "few" according to Christ Himself. ( Luke 13:23 among other verses).

Another thing which needs consideration is the reports of children being in hell. Matthew 18:10; as well as Matthew 21:16 tied to Psalm 8:2; and the testimony of David in 2 Samuel 12:23 should dispel this; there are other verses as well which I may elaborate on in a future posting. Those scenes where people seem baffled or confused as to what is happening to them isn't scriptural; and we also must ponder Hebrews 9:27; and understand that judgment comes first immediately after death (although before the Great White Throne one at the end of the Millennium). The punishment is justly given in different levels depending on the crime. I need to be careful here; but will say that punishment will be no more or less than deserved; more "tolerable" for some as in Matthew 11:22.

In conclusion; God's Word should make us tremble; the subject matter should never be looked at as entertaining.

The bigger picture: Brothers and sisters in Christ and the armies of heaven.

Revelation 2:27 has a cross reference somewhere but it is hard to find...in Psalms regarding the inheritance of the saints and ruling with an iron rod. Of course Christ Himself will do this as shown in Psalm 2:7-9 and elsewhere.

There are numerous other verses such as in Ephesians on inheritance and what as sons of light we will have someday ( Eph. 5:8; 1 Thess. 5:5). There is also the reference in the Book of Hebrews to the "cloud of witnesses" ( Heb. 12:1) with specific references in the previous chapter to those who lived lives of faith and are in God's "hall of fame" so to speak. Psalm 8:2 even talks of God's strength in the praise of infants; which was quoted in Matthew 11:25 (also see Matthew 21:15-16 for fulfillment).

Ephesians 6 gives us instructions to be victors on the battlefield with only one offensive weapon; the sword of the Spirit ( Eph. 6:17). This is something only effective when we have the entire defensive mechanism set up to stop the fiery darts of the evil one in the previous verse.

We often are quick to point out the persecution; wars; famines and other trials that believers go through which is no doubt an essential concern in prayer. The fact is that there is a battle raging all the time for the souls of men; Christ has won the war and ultimately all He has called and chosen will be saved. This doesn't by any means lessen the conflict but gives us assurance that the Lord will direct those who He wills in our paths to minister to; and pray for. 1 Peter 4:19 discusses prosperity and trials as they come and go in our lives; and Ecclesiastes 7:14 shows God's Providence. I would state that it appears when things are going well it is a more accurate test to determine faithfullness as that is when sin in most likely to take root. In adversity many will fear the Lord; but the faithful will not forget His benefits ( Deuteronomy 8:10-18). Also read Eph. 2:10

The Davidic Covenant.

The Davidic Covenant centers on several key promises that are made to David. First, God reaffirms the promise of the land that He made in the first two covenants with Israel (the Abrahamic and Mosaic Covenants). This promise is seen in 2 Samuel 7:10, "I will provide a place for my people Israel and will plant them so that they can have a home of their own and no longer be disturbed. Wicked people will not oppress them anymore." God then promises that David's son will succeed him as king of Israel and that this son (Solomon) would build the temple. This promise is seen in 2 Samuel 7:12-13, " I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name."

But then the promise continues and expands: "I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever" (verse 13), and "Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever" (verse 16). What began as a promise that David's son Solomon would be blessed and build the temple turns into something different-the promise of an everlasting kingdom. Another Son of David would rule forever and build a lasting House. This is a reference to the Messiah, Jesus Christ, called the Son of David in Matthew 21:9.

The promise that David's "house," "kingdom," and "throne" will be established forever is significant because it shows that the Messiah will come from the lineage of David and that He will establish a kingdom from which He will reign. The covenant is summarized by the words "house," promising a dynasty in the lineage of David; "kingdom," referring to a people who are governed by a king; "throne," emphasizing the authority of the king's rule; and "forever," emphasizing the eternal and unconditional nature of this promise to David and Israel.

Davidic Covenant; Jeremiah 23:5; 30:9; Isaiah 9:7; 11:1; Luke 1:32, 69; Acts 13:34; and Revelation 3:7.

Part 1

In part 1 you gave me Luke 1:17 and stated, "This means that another part of John's ministry was to teach Hebrews to clean their heart by preaching them to obey God's commandments. I would have to disagree with you on that.

No one could keep the law therefore it couldn't make you clean. Acts 15:5-10. Romans 8:3. Galatians 3:10-14.

You also referred me to Luke 3:7-18. Notice vs 9) "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire. They couldn't bare fruit! Israel was a degenerate vine.

Jeremiah 2:20-21. Matthew 21:42-44. In contrast to that Jesus is the genuine vine. John 15:1-2.

John was preparing the way for someone to do what the Law couldn't do. and that's Christ.

John's baptism was to turn the Jews "The lost sheep of Israel" to Christ and yet he says there comes one who will give a baptism that exceeds his that brings us to Jesus.

Now John says he must decrease, and Jesus must Increase. Now we have the beginning of Jesus ministry in which he came for the lost sheep of Israel. Due to blindness, they denied there king so as Paul says salvation has come to the Gentiles. That brings us to Pentecost. Here's a predominantly mostly if not all Jewish beginning of the Church. Here is where baptism of the Holyspirit begins and this is where the Spirit of God baptize Jews and Gentiles into the body of Christ and water baptism is a ritual way for you to display what the Spirit of God has already done once you TRULY believed.

So, the obedience is for you to show by display who and what you believe in. It's the faith of Christ that initiates your belief which leads to Salvation.

Jesus will rule with His Father forever over the saints and it will be a kingdom of joy, peace, love, power, grace, and righteousness. (Rom.14:17)

God will rule over the kingdom as the only Sovereign. He will rule over heaven and the lake of fire ensuring the blessedness of the saints and the eternal punishment of those under His wrath.

Jesus told Pilate that His Kingdom was not of this world ( John 18:36) It is spiritual and heavenly and also within us.

It is not a Jewish kingdom because Jesus said that the kingdom would be taken from them and given to another nation. ( Matthew 21:43) (This nation being the saints of God-both Jew and Gentile) Jesus' words were fulfilled in 70 A.D. on the generation that was then present. Matthew 22:7; 23:38; Luke 21:20,24) The Romans surrounded Jerusalem and lay siege to it. They burned the temple and the city to the point of desolation. 1.1 million Jews were killed in this siege. Thousands upon thousands were taken captive and enslaved.

Even though there is a nation called Israel today does not mean that there will be an earthly kingdom with the Messiah. About 25% of the Jews worldwide emigrated to Israel since it was given nation status in 1948. The national archives of the Jews were destroyed in the 70A.D.. This means all of the records of peoples families and lineages. The other tribes of Israel have been scattered all over the world and intermixed with the Gentiles. There are a small percentage of these tribes in Israel now. So we cannot say that the whole nation ahs been regathered. But even if there comes a national regathering of ALL of Israel, this does not confirm that there will be an earthly kingdom with Jesus reigning. His kingdom is one of righteousness where sin does not enter it. This world is sinful and corrupt...

This siege ended the time of the Jews and the OT Mosaic system.

That "Stone" is Christ.

You will find this in Acts 4:10-12 which itself is the confirmation Matthew 21:42 and Psalm 118:22-23 and 1 Peter 2:6-7

If Christ is that Stone (which he is), then even common sense teaches that it is far better to fall on a stone than for a stone to fall on you.

I believe God.

A question : do you have faith , in God and in Jesus ? I'm guessing yes , so , why haven't you moved a mountain ? For many years I beat myself up over this , Matthew 17:20 , Matthew 21:21 , Mark 11:23 , John 4:21 . Obviously , I don't have even a tiny mustard grain of faith ! It's only quite recently that I realised that Jesus is using a metaphor . The mountain represents those trials and tribulations that I have in my daily life , my worries my fears my insecurities that come from paying too much attention to the things of this life . Then of course I had to rethink a few other things , once I had realised and accepted that , Jesus sometimes used metaphors , this has opened up my mind to all kinds of possibilities . Further study is required ! Guess what ? Further study is always required ! We are used to metaphors in the Bible especially in the book of Revelation but I hadn't really thought about Jesus using them , parables yes , metaphors ? Took me longer to recognise them . The Bible never stops teaching us new things , this is how it works , it opens up slowly , the more effort you put in and the more your heart and mind are open to it , the more it reveals . It doesn't matter how long we have been reading it , it doesn't matter how many times we've read it , it doesn't matter how great we think our knowledge and understanding is , there's still got good stuff in there to teach us . This is why we need to be careful about how we receive others , they may now something that we don't know yet , we may now something that they don't know yet , we must not discourage open discussion , we must not close our eyes and ears to each other . May God bless us all with open eyes , ears , minds and hearts , to receive His Word from each other with humility and patience and love .

Interesting I hadn't thought of it that way. Romans 8:26, 1Corinthians 13:1,9,11,12,13, context 1Corinthians 13, continuing from 1Corinthians 12 & through 1Corinthians 14, all 3 chapters complete the message, he's giving about tongues, in this book

Hello William. If Matthew 21:16 is taken on its own without using its context, one could use Jesus' Words for the spiritual babe in Christ voicing praise in a simple or unlearned tongue. However, for an exegetical understanding, the meaning & intent of the verse is quite the opposite.

Jesus was clearly referencing Psalm 8:2: "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger." In this Psalm of praise, David likens the defeat of his powerful enemies as coming mysteriously from the simple & weak (babes & sucklings). Even with their fewer numbers & feeble shouts when engaging in battle, it is the LORD Who has gained the victory - and no doubt 'stilling' the enemy & avenger (Heb: shabath, to cease, to draw back). This is reminiscent of Jahaziel's great assurance in 2 Chronicles 20:15: "Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's."

When Jesus uses this Psalm 8:2 to highlight the chief priests & scribes ignorance of the Scriptures & animosity against Him, He asks them, 'aren't your ears open to what these young ones are shouting about, even as you saw the mighty things that were done in the Power of God? Even these little ones have joined the others to shout praises to God's Messiah (the Son of David).' As the shout of victory went out by Israel's 'feeble' army against the enemy, so now the shouts of praise from the 'simple & unlearned' uttered to praise this Jesus, God's Messiah. But this would have been too much for the religious leaders who refused to accept Jesus & to have their 'great' knowledge of the Scriptures questioned.

My first reply was wrong that is why I corrected it later.

In that verse in Matthew the actual meaning of Peter(Petros) is rock(petra), not stone. A more specific anc. grk word for "stone" is "lithos", it is used in Matthew 21:42, "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone(lithos) which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner(cornerstone): this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?". So Jesus describes Himself as stone in this scripture, isn't He?

I am in agreement with what you say about picking a single verse and make a doctrine out of it. But as I have already said I don't think this is an important topic to spend so much time on it. GBU

Often we read or hear the word of God and we say "I'm going to do that". For instance We shall love one another as I have loved you. How are we carrying that out as a whole?

This is not anything our flesh wants us to do.

I believe the inerrant word of God CAUSES us to do something our natural man couldn't do.

This is what Jesus asked Peter in John 21:15-17.

Peter understood. Peter responded "You know I love you Lord".

Peter didn't use the word Agape, he used phile. Perhaps that's the highest degree of Love the flesh is capable of.

He knew he wasn't capable.

Neither was the disciples ready for ministry until the were filled with the Holyspirit.

You can't command someone to Love the way God loves.

Here's another reference of where our righteous deeds if counted worthy must come from within the heart. Matthew 23:25-28. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Thou blind Pharisee, CLEANSE FIRST THAT WHICH IS WITHIN THE CUP AND PLATTER, THAT THE OUTSIDE OF THEM MAY BE CLEAN ALSO.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Part 5 Cross references and interpretations

The New Testament lists miracles of Christ which can be close enough to likely be the same event which may have varying details revealed in one version; or a different event based on supporting evidence. That would relate to the turning of the moneychangers tables. It appears in John 2:14 and Matthew 21:12-13. The time frame clearly show that it straddled pretty much the whole ministry of Christ (was several years apart). The case in Mark would likely be right before the crucifixion as the text indicates; although for some reason some seem to think He did this 3 times.

Another time frame issue comes from the verses on the signs given to the early church on healing and tongues that apparently were widespread events at that time. No one can doubt that the scriptures prophesied such things as for instance Isaiah 53 makes clear. The controversy is what is applicable today. It is important to understand that since no one since the time of the Resurrection has escaped physical death than there is a specific application to the dispensation (or time frame) that we are in prophetically. What we can claim as promises need to be looked at with the light of scripture; for even with the case of Paul; Satan gave him a thorn in the flesh and Phillippians 2:27 where Ephaphroditus nearly died and was "sick to death". We can certainly apply a total healing to eventually involve the mind; body and soul or spirit of an individual and also say that He can expidite certain miraculous events when He chooses. We can look to verses on material blessings as well and legitimately claim certain promises; but of course as James warns us if we do it to consume upon our own lusts or are doubleminded we shouldn't expect results.

Finally; it is important to make sure we are correctly interpreting a a verse as well as connecting it with an appropriate cross reference; and good teaching stills help along with growing in wisdom/truth.

Dear Imam Muhammad. We might not understand your meaning of 'oracle'. What we understand of the word is found in several portions of the Old Testament, and this refers to the Holy of Holies that was the inner sanctuary of the Tabernacle (or, Temple when King Solomon/Suleiman) built it (e.g. see it mentioned in 1 Kings 8:1-9).

This place, the Oracle, that only the High Priest could enter contained the Ark of the Covenant. We know that this Temple was destroyed by the Romans in AD70, but what happened to the Ark of the Covenant, no one can be sure. So, in the biblical meaning, the Oracle is the Holy of Holies & that no longer exists.

Matthew 21, is translated from the Greek in this translation. The Strongs Exhaustive Concordance on this site connection has only the Greek into English, that I personally could find. In Touch Ministry Dr. Charles Stanley, is working on many translations. I researched online also, there seems to be translations.

Both the Ass and Colt was brought to Jesus on request. what happened to the Ass, since Jesus rode on the Colt alone?

Psalm 8

There is a cross reference with Matthew 21:16 in verse 2 of this Psalm. This surely outwitted the wisdom of man with the Pharisees. This verse would seem to indicate that all children are in the Book of Life until the age of accountability; perhaps by default being in the book of all the living. Ezekiel 18:20 states that the soul who sins will die; and children will not bear blame for parents sins. We are all born into a sin nature; but not all living long enough to understand the meaning of it. Jesus also stated that "unless you are converted and come to me as a little children you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." This involves the following of those who are drawn (such as the immediate response of the first disciples when Christ said "follow me.") This involves TRUST for Christ to provide all needs; so we can realize that He who takes care of the birds of the air will take care of us ( Matthew 6:26).

The animals with the rest of God's creation are mentioned in verses 6-8 here; and man's dominion a little lower than angels (v. 5) yet ruling over the animals and the earth (v.6) gives him a special place.

There are many cares in this world; some of which we are responsible for such as elderly parents; wives/husbands and children. We are to provide for our needs by working. Ultimately; all things are for the Kingdom of God. It is interesting in light of the ministry Christ and the Apostles had through the 1st Century; and how they would preach the Gospel first; and whether lodging in a private house; through the dangers of the sea; or in a jail cell from time to time God preserved them. We see those such as in Phillipians 2:27 who almost worked themselves to death. Clearly; death was the normal end of their lives (except for John who they say survived being boiled in oil according to tradition). Such a focus on looking on Christ and not on this world; and dying to self surely is something to ponder in this nation today.

I was just thinking about Isaiah 53:5....He was wounded for out Trangressions. And Bruised for our initiquites:...And the Chastisment of our Pease was laid upon him....And by his stripes we are healed....And another place he was touched by the feelings of our Infirmities....If we are not touched by the feeling of ppls infirmities we are not of God....If we have no feelings for a sick and a dying world we are not of God as God is love...We should wana help folks that are in need....I'm talking about wanting to help ppl with a Passion that burns like a fire in our Hearts.

.....If there is one attribute or one Spirit that defines God its Love.....Love fulfills the whole law and the Prophets as Jesus said....To love God with all our hearts and our neighbor as our selves. If you can do this you are not far from the Kingdom of God...Jesus said.

John 14:12....B/c i go to the Father...impling the seed sowing mode is only by the FATHER when the book is opened that we might all get a seed that we might birth Christ in us...The son of man....Resulting in a baby Christ being born in us....My lil Children of whom i travail in birth till Christ is formed in you....The Babes and Sucklings that Jesus said cd Praise God with a perfect praise..outta of the mouths of babes and sucklings thou has perfected PRAISE... Matthew 21:15....Then we will do the works Jesus did and greater.

.....As God is spirit and them that worship him must worhip him in Spirit and truth....Which answer to the babes and sucklings....Our new innerman the H.G. The Children of Promise....our new hearts and new spirits....An Israel of God...Christ in us the hope of Glory.

Wanted to speak brieftly about the Donkey and her Colt..A sign of the 2 nd coming when the woman births the manchild which is the H.G....That Children of Promise....Our colt is the H.G. thats y he says that which is BORN of the spirit is spirit....Thats y the disciples put their clothes on the Donkey....The disciples are gonna birth a baby Christ our colt...our fruit unto God....Its the H.G. that comes in the name of the lord...As Jesus said blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord which is the H.G. Our Colt...Jesus said when he the spirit of truth is come he will come in my name,..Which is the H.G...She brought forth a man child that is gona rule all nations...Her Colt ,the H.G...Our fruit unto God via his good seed the living words sown in our Hearts

....But the Donkey and her colt were tied up in a place where 2 ways meet.. Matthew 21:7...Thats us we are tied up in a place where 2 ways meet...Remember Paul said when i wd do good evil is present with me...O wretched man that i am....The Tare keeps us in bondage till the reapers come and gather up the Tares and burn them at the Harvest..Thats y he aways refered to himself as the son of man...There is a baby Christ in our near future a lil Colt...The H.G....Our king comes riding on a donkey. The donkey and her colt is a baby Christ....The Woman in Rev 12 is the Donkey and her colt, The H.G. that Child of Promise...It had to be written like this so that no body wd understand it.....These things are hid from the wise and prudent but revealed unto Babes and sucklings....Our Colts in the spiritual realm..Our offspring....The H.G....They don't call him the bridegroom for nothin....There is a Baby Christ in our near FUTURE....Its only the H.G. that can come in his name...The Donkey is symbolic of the bride the world, God so loved the world..The manchild is the H.G. our Colt that is gona rule all nations.

But for now we are still tied up in a place where 2 ways meet..The Flesh and the Spirit .Our Minds...GB

The CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE

There are four accounts of the story of Jesus and the money changers, one occurs in Matthew 21:12-13, the second is Mark 11:15-19, and the third account is in Luke 19:45-48, and the fourth in John 2:13-22.

All four of these accounts although they are written by different people, but all communicate the story in a similar way

The story begins with Jesus entering the temple and being upset with what is going on in the temple he overturns tables and drives out those who are buying and selling.

In the temple courts he [Jesus] found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle;

he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, 'Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a market!'

What upset Jesus was the money changers who were cheating people at the temple. Cheating people is wrong but at the location of the temple upset Jesus since this place was set apart for the presence of God

Because each of these accounts was written by different people each one shows a different perspective on the situation that is happening. Matthew, Mark, and Luke quote Jesus as saying

"He said to them, 'It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you make it a den of robbers.' Matthew 21:13

John quotes Jesus differently saying instead Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2:16,19

This does not mean that any author wrote the story down wrong but instead, John is bringing a different perspective.
