It simply means 'to greet'. Paul, in his letters, often passed on his salutations (greetings) to those he knew there or had laboured with him in the ministry.

That's a very important & pertinent issue you've raised & I appreciate your honesty in admitting it, an area so common to the male species, but often kept buried. With all the bombardment from the media that typifies women as sexual objects rather than seeing them as God intended & to love & respect them as we would our own mothers & sisters, it is little wonder that both Christians & non-Christians suffer badly here.

I understand what you're saying, though unsure of your marital status or age group, as in my younger days as a single unbeliever in the Armed Forces, there was always the pressure to conform & to view females in an unnatural way; & our treatment of them usually reflected our mindset. Many of them too, gave in to us & one even openly stated that women were on Earth to give pleasure to men! So for the Christian, Jesus' Work at the Cross not only forgives us our past sins but endues us with Power from on high to live above that type of carnal living. Yet the internal struggle goes on.

You write about "self discipline and training your mind" which I presume includes spending much time in God's Word & prayer & specifically about your areas of weakness. Indeed, the Spirit of the Lord is there to guide & strengthen you, but also to inspire you to use whatever means to deal with it. Remember, whenever we seek to remove something from within, there is an empty space to fill. If it remains empty, then that temptation to sin is ever ready to fill the void. And this goes for any sin which is not of a sexual nature. You know the things that trigger lust for you & so how can you avoid them or deal with them? As said, soak yourself in the Word & serving the Lord in whatever way you can. Look at women as those of your own family. Whenever the wrong thoughts enter, cover it with the Word, look to the Lord to give you a way of escape ( 1 Corinthians 10:13), fill your mind with goodness ( Philippians 4:8). "An idle mind is the Devil's Workshop" - keep your mind employed.

    1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)

"[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

Yes, we do face sufferings in this life, but we have to know that

    Romans 8:18

"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."

    Philippians 4:6-7

"The Lord is at hand. [6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

Even if we die in this world we will go to the next world which is eternal. There are two destinations that everyone will go to one day after death, either [heaven mainly because they trusted what the Lord Jesus Christ did on the cross for there sin's and on the third day ROSE again] or [hell mainly because they rejected what the Lord Jesus Christ did for them on the cross and ROSE again the third day]. For those that trust in the Lord Jesus Christ ( to that bright world to which we go) may God bless.

Disappointment comes to all of us as we remain in hope that something we've planned for or what has been told us, fails to materialize. It is an unnerving experience that can render some people quite helpless, but God is there for times such as these.

Romans 12:2 says it this way: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Even though we generally understand this verse warning the believer not to behave as the unsaved world does & adopt a new way of thinking, it also has implications to the believer not to conform to the world that sets its hope on the finite & material aspects of it, rather than putting faith in the God Who knows & does all things well.

The believer does at times suffer disappointments, but ought to immediately look heavenward & commit himself & those matters to the Lord Who will bring it to pass in His Time, & generally in a manner above what we could have expected or planned for.

Some other Scriptures to reflect upon: Philippians 4:6,7; Romans 8:28; Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 73:23-26; Psalm 121:1-8; Psalm 42:11; Matthew 6:33; Proverbs 3:5,6; 1 Peter 5:6,7; John 14:27; Hebrews 13:5. And many more, to show us there is comfort & help as we wait upon the Lord with our concerns & disappointments in this life.

"[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. and

    Philippians 4:4-9

"[4] Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. [5] Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. [6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. [7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. [8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. [9] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."

For your son Lamontriel make sure he knows

    1 Corinthians 15:1-4

Telling these scriptures to him and spending time in the scriptures it will help to reduce his suicidal thoughts also have faith that God is able both you and your family have faith, (able to do what you might say?) able to give your son a peace of mind that passes all knowledge. This also goes for anyone.

Philippians 4:6,7: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

That great Scripture being penned by the apostle holed up & bound in chains in prison, serves as a good reminder to us to "cast all of our care upon the Lord". It is certain that the events of the past days(s) cannot be changed and those of the future cannot be known, but voluntarily handing over the things outside our knowledge & control to a merciful, loving God Who does know & can handle them perfectly, is the best thing we can ever do. It is one thing to carefully & prayerfully consider the difficulties we're in, seeking wisdom from the Lord as to how to proceed, but when we allow that matter to constantly oppress the mind, taking away our joy, our hope & even our sleep, then this undermines the Grace of God for the believer & also to the deterioration of the mind & body.

It has always been the work of God's Spirit to bring a restless, suffering soul to a point of restful peace in Christ. Worry, agitation in spirit & irrational decisions come from one who has refused the Spirit's help, preferring to use one's own wisdom. This can never bring the Peace of God in one's life. Isaiah 30:15 well says, "For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not." Loosely translated for today: 'salvation from our struggles can only be found in coming first to the Lord & leaving it all with Him; our spiritual strength comes only by tenaciously holding onto a quiet confidence in God's great Wisdom & Power, that which He requires of us'.

Thank you for sharing your testimony of God's special ministry to your life during the times you felt you were imprisoned in but now rejoicing in His freedom.

    Remember

Yes, we do suffer in this present evil world, but when we either get raptured by Jesus Christ to the eternal side or when we die in this world, we are automatically present with the The Lord Jesus Christ. ( To that bright world to which we go ) =-)

    Romans 8:15-21

"[15] For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. [16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: [17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. [18] For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. [20] For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, [21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God."

By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, peace be with and your father through Christ Jesus and his words which is in the bible, May God Bless =-)

Kathy, the Proverbs are generally individual words of wisdom or proverbial truths, but sometimes we see some connections, as in Proverbs 16:2,3.

Verse 2: man's perception of himself & his actions will be deemed as correct & honourable but the Lord does not see as man does, for God weighs (or, takes into account, measures) the inner thoughts or motives of man.

In contrast we see in verse 3: when that man does not justify his actions by his own reckoning (v2) rather commits his works (his deeds, plans, designs) to the Lord, then even his thoughts (what man plans to do further as a result of first looking to the Lord) will be confirmed & established by the Lord.

The Truth here is that when the child of God first seeks the Lord, committing his actions to Him, then he can trust the Lord to bring it to pass even when he feels that he may be doing things from his own mind. The act of calling upon the Lord & trusting Him to work on one's behalf will mean that the Lord will also lead him throughout that endeavour.

Some associated Scriptures that give weight to this Truth are in: Psalm 37:4,5; Proverbs 3:5,6; Luke 12:30,31.

Scriptures regarding our thoughts: Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:8.

Dear Diane, the fact that you care and are concerned enough to post a prayer request shows where your heart is. That's a good thing. Christians are not immune to temptation, sin, and spiritual strongholds, but should try to do everything in your power to break them. Paul was a strong Christian, but still described how he struggled with the fleshly temptations of sin. There are general Christian addition support groups through church like Celebrate Recovery that may offer helpful support. Ephesians 6:10-18

It is my belief that if you have become a Christian (Link and genuinely following Christ then by definition you are Christian and are saved by grace and can have confidence in your salvation. 1 John 5:13. Hebrews 4:16, Philippians 4:13. I believe following Christ is an active pursuit and we always have room to grow and mature and be more like Him.

    God bless...
