Hello Kristina. No offence taken - at least nothing from me. Was just trying to figure out whether the focus of your comment was on a tree in the Song of Solomon, or some other aspects of the Bible. Churches will apply their own interpretation of the Scriptures, just as you probably look at Scriptures in a certain way. It would be good if we all read the Bible as it was meant to be understood, but that's not going to happen as Christianity is both large in numbers & spread over the globe and each Church Fellowship will hold to teachings as they have been given. Only the much smaller groups seem to have a common understanding of the Word, particularly if there is an overall leader that dictates how the Word should be studied.

Even in Islam & most religions, you won't find perfect agreement on everything written in their books. So, as Christians, we are cast upon the Lord & the Spirit He has given us to make His Word clear & precious to our hearts. Maybe if you specified a particular verse or passage, giving us your meaning of it, so that we can consider it & comment. Otherwise, it would be difficult for us to know exactly the purpose behind what you have presented, hence no one has been able to respond to you.

Apologies to any offended Christians. My intent is not to offend. I was raised in "The Church of Christ". I identify as EX Church of Christ. Proverbs was written by King Solomon with a few contributions from others. These Old Testament writings are Hebrew Scriptures. The best understanding their meaning 9coming from someone knowing, reading and/or etc the Jewish Scriptures. Or try a Jewish Bible.i.Christianity did not exist at the time of these writings The she is a Tree, which is essential for our environment where life grows. History has told stories of the beauty of Solomons Temples and Gardens in his Jerusalem and Palmyra. The Israelites knew trees made the apperance of the temples and the gardens beautiful. And more mportantlly they made the environment healthy. The Jewish Holidsy "Tu B'Shevat", The New Year of The Tree is celebrated each year. Remember English Translations of the Bible are just that "Translations". By the way, the King James Version, a Translation, written as a Literary Work of Art commissioned by King James of England And it seems different denominations including the Church of Christ interpret those translations anyway they want. King Solomon was very gifted in the wise department. He is not so hard to follow. Be open minded! Read for yourself and think about it. I hope this simplifies the understanding of this scripture. Peace be with you all.

What I do know is that God didn't lie:

Numbers 23:19 "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

Titus 1:2 "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;"

    -

The Bible says to trust Him, and not lean on our own understanding of how things should happen, or if certain promises should have applied to him, but didn't:

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

    -

Only God knows the "hidden things of darkness" in the hearts of men (we can't know everything):

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

    -

And God's thoughts and judgements are infinitely higher than ours:

Isaiah 55:6-9 - 6Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

7Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

    -

The Bible also shows us there are things that can shorten our lives - I obviously don't know if this specific verse applies, but as an example, having certain things in his heart and actions (even if it's not this particular verse) wouldn't be honoring the parents who raised him:

    Psalms 55:23

"But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee."
  • Joshua Babbitt - In Reply - 4 years ago
Hello Charles, The key is to trust in the Lord Jesus, and that may seem obvious, and easier said then done, but my encouragement is to pray fervently throughout each day, that the Lord God would help you trust in him with all your heart as He instructed:

Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding."

We can't simply will ourselves into no longer having fear under our own power; because without Christ we can do nothing (even simple things like trusting Him) - therefore, we need to pray that He will be the one that makes the change in us.

    John 15:5

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 - "Pray without ceasing." so keep praying day after day without ceasing until He gives you that trust and answers your prayers and cry for help.

The Bible shows us fear is a sin ( Revelation 21:8), so it's something we all should be on guard against, and it's good you are confessing it, because James 5:16 makes it sound like that's part of how we are healed from such a fault:

James 5:16 "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

And like any other sin, God promises to give us a way to escape it:

    1 Corinthians 10:13

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."

Next time temptation comes, go to the Lord Jesus for escape, trust Him, and keep your mind on Him:

    Isaiah 26:3

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Maybe even sing hymns as you pray - it helps you keep your mind on Him and when they prayed in prison the chains broke off( Acts 16:25)

  • Seeking the Favor of God - In Reply - 4 years ago
The favor of God can be described as "tangible evidence that a person has the approval of the Lord." When we favor someone, we want to be with him or her. We delight in him/her. We connect with him/her in a way we don't connect with everyone else. We usually favor people who also favor us. IN THE SAME WAY, God shows favor to the ones who delight in, connect with, and give honor to Him. Isaiah 66:2 says, "These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word." 2 Chronicles 16:9 says, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." To be "perfect" toward Him means we seek His favor more than we seek the favor of anyone else, even ourselves.

Proverbs 8:35; "For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the LORD."

Psalms 5:12 "For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favor wilt thou compass him as with a shield."

Proverbs 3:4; "So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man."

Satisfy me Lord with favor and fill me with blessing in the name of Jesus!

In the mighty name of Jesus, I claim...

    -help reading your Word, daily

    - divine wisdom from your Word

    - patience with my family

    - divine favor in family and business

    - prosperity, bless tithes and offerings

    -shield me from satanic attacks

-help finding a better job, home

    - lend me angelic support

    - the release of finances

    Isaiah 26:3

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

    Luke 13:11; John 5:5; Acts 10:38; Acts 3:2; Acts 4:9

Speaking words of faith strengthen your spirit. Stay strong and you will be blessed for it.

To Martha, domestic violence is an abomination ! Don't know if you have children involved in this equation ,don't know what area of our country you live, but most cities, countries have resources for this. They can provide shelter, legal advisement, clean clothing if you have to escape without anything, finding a job assistance, help with medical care, counseling to get over the trauma physical, psychological, emotional, childcare so you can find a job,& find a safe place to live, etc. For example, in Georgia where I am ,HOPE FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE (678)-410-7411.If you don't know of resources in your area, try giving a call. I will pray for you that our dear Lord will guide & see you thru this.Get your birth certificate, also if children are involved, copy of your marriage license, copy of medical records, school records if applicable. Try to save any money you can. Put stuff you get together in a safe place .Prepare as best you can but please get out. These are stressful timesbut there is no excuse for abuse. They also can help with legal advisement & services. Proverbs 3:5-7.If you have other family maybe they would be willing to help you. Have to be careful with this as it can get tricky as your abusing spouse knows them also. The main point being ,get out of unsafe situation .

Desire God, follow Christ, and your needs will be fulfilled.

Your NEEDS, not necessarily your wants - important difference. God knows your needs!

    Matthew 6:26

"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"

I have been heavily involved with community service all my live , my family taught me to help others , in whatever way can in good times or in bad.I have been following this website since I ran across it quite awhile ago . In the King James Version there is no incarnation, but here is the definition for incarnation - a person who embodies in the flesh a deity, spirit, or abstract quality. (in Christian theology) the embodiment of God the Son in human flesh as Jesus Christ. John put it this way

John 1: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2The same was in the beginning with God.

1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

We as christains say the word was manifested in a fleshly form. The word that was spoken to mary was manifested into a flesh and blood as a baby.

    God Bless

stay prayed up ready to go up

  • The First Marriage - In Reply on Proverbs 31 - 4 years ago
    GENESIS 2

18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an HELP meet for him.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an HELP MEET for him.

    21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now BONE OF MY BONE and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: AND THEY SHALL BE ONE FLESH.

25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

As long as we reverence the exclusivity of the marriage there will be less problems. Often relatives, siblings, parents, friends; try to speak their ideas into your marriage. So in verse 24 we see that it is dangerous to allow others to judge your marriage. They didn't have cell phones back then. :/

By being loyal to each other, and not permitting others to offer comment on you or your spouse, you will save on trips to counselors or attorneys.

Television prime time is harmful to marriage. People feel threatened by a persons healthy marriage and family relationships with kids.

Unsolicited advise gets met with: "I always check in the Bible for my advise." Really, Deuteronomy and Leviticus have useful principals. What builds up; what tears down// 1 Corinthians 7

We live in a society that feels threatened by anything remotely "religious". I made all the mistakes, so I really want you to succeed.

Pedophilia people, zoophilia people, furries gays, and clothing optonal people are not Sodomites. They are wanting one person to be a condeming judge.

    Proverbs 3:32-34

    King James Version

32 For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous. Genesis 19:9 9And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. 2 Peter 2:7

"And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:"

King James Version. Proverbs 3:32: For the froward is abomination to the Lord: but his secret is with the righteous." People are froward - forceful with their words and actions to spesific people. Matthew 11:12

"And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." People are forceful toward the people I mentioned. Islamic People don't like what I teach. The catholic church does not say what I teach. Pedophilia people are not like either one of them. Whatever you do unto the least of these my brethren, you are doing it unto me. Romans 12:2

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." People s think God's will is: You are associated with that name: die, or you are a pedophile or a sex offender, when a young person just so happens to see parts, that made their life to be a reality.,

    Janie,

Are you a born-again Christian? John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Humble yourself before Christ, confess your sins, repent--to wit, determine never to commit those sins again--and believe in your heart that he has saved you. He will give you a new heart and a new life in Him. Ezekiel 36:26 "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh."

Once you are born-again, do get baptized by submersion, and I strongly advise you to talk to a pastor or someone who can lead you into the steps of spiritual growth.

Even after we are saved, God doesn't promise everything will run smooth, but He does promise that He will be with us always.

I lost four friends and five family members in a matter of several months. It was a hard pill to swallow and I kept waiting for the next person to die, wondering if I was next.

I don't mean to sound flip, but these things do happen. Bad things happen, people die, it's all due to the fall in the Garden of Eden. And all we can do is pray for comfort, really, knowing that God's will is just, though we may not understand until we get to Heaven. Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

    God bless you!

The same usage of heart is used in Proverbs 3:5+6 notice verse 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear or respect the lord and depart from evil. If you respect you stop doing things against what you respect. There is no excuse. God Bless

    Proscovia naiga,

I do not know your situation, sometimes we can go through some pretty lousy times, that is hard to for us see an out. It can look so dark we cannot see any light. Let me assure you there is light out there if we hold fast to our faith. Start with prayer, ( Psalms 66:20) Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

Matthew 6 is a good chapter, if we strive to live in this way the Spirit of Christ will lift us up and give us the strength to get through. We must keep in our thoughts, the life to come is our hope in Jesus Christ. It may take time but don't give in and when you see better times don't forget who brought you through, give Him all the praise and glory.

    ( James 1:2-4) ( Psalm 34:17) ( Proverbs 3:5-6) ( 2 Corinthians 1:10) ( Colossians 1:13) ( James 1:12)

Prayers for better times for you.

kevin In the least common denominator prayer is just asking God for something. Don't use repitition and don't beg He's more willing to give than we are to receive. There's nothing He will not do according to His Word, there's the condition people pray for God to do things that His word says he doesn't do then there's the opposite He does things that people say He doesn't do. He knows you better than you know You so a big part of this is Proverbs 3:5+6. God Bless have fun. P.S. To believers there are over 400 promises in Gods Word now Question is How Many do you Know.
