I think is in reference to "two is better than one". The New Living Translation (NLT) says it this way "A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." I think the third person would be God, for he said in Matt. 18:20 (KJV) "Where two or three is gathered together in my name there am I in the midst of them." I hope this help. God Bless..
