I posted a reply in the last couple of days that did not appear. First of all, I am glad you are studying the Word of God. These debates are good, but I would not want to be a stumbling block to anyone. The main focus of the Bible is Jesus Christ and what He did for us on the cross. We as lost sinners need a redeemer.
In regard to the Genesis account, I accept what is stated in the Bible. We should not indulge in speculation. Since the Mosaid laws were handed down, it would be unthinkable for a brother and sister to have a sexual union. If there were other people already on the earth, then I don't understand why God would have had to create Eve especcially for Adam ( Gen. 2:20). I don't understand why it was permitted for Adam's sons to marry into those other people if it wasn't okay for Adam. But, be that as it may, we do see later on that Abraham married a half sister, Sarai ( Genesis 20:12). This was not an isolated incident of close kin marrying.
    Keep on studying the Word!
