Correct, Esau despised his birthright, most likely didn't want the responsibility towards God that came with it. Jacob desired the birthright, perhaps was told by his Mom that he was to receive it by the prophecy given to her when pregnant. Jacob had a believing heart, but was also shrewd, at times to the point of grave sin. Thank God for his forgiveness and plans for those He chooses!
