What happened to the passages inGenesis where God made Eve from a rib of Adam's? Instead I now read that God made manand womanat the same time without mentioning God making Eve from Adam's rib? Who changed this, why, and when?

On the 6th day God created a man and a woman and he gave them authority to eat of the fruit of EVERY tree. Adam and Eve were not given such authority therefore this man and this woman were not Adam and Eve.

    To Mike

They did have the authority, as they did in fact eat. If they hadn't had the authority, they would have been physically unable to eat.

1 Corinthians 10:23 "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not."

In Exodus 20, the ten commandments are spoken by God in an ordering voice: "Thou shalt not commit adultery.", for example. And yet people still do commit adultery, so they have the authority. Whether it is convenient or not, well, I don't have to spell that out for you.

The serpent deceived Eve in telling her that she wouldn't die despite God saying that they would:

"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

Sure, they wouldn't die immediately, which the serpent based on this his "half-lie": "Ye shall not surely die"; but they certainly did so eventually, as for God one day and a thousand years are one and the same.

Genesis 3:20 "And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living."

1 Corinthians 15:45 "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." I repeat: The first man Adam

Another observation, though this is but speculation:

There is only one tree of the knowledge of good and evil, so the fruit it bears might not have seeds as it doesn't multiply.

You make some interesting points. And you are certainly not the first to suggest that Eve had the authority to eat of the fruit.

    It's still there

Genesis 2:21-25 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man."

Hello Christian. If you read Genesis chapter 2, you will find the account you are seeking.
