The difference between Adam before he ate of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and Christ.
The usage of the word "NAKEDNESS" in the Bible.
I have shared this before, perhaps a few years ago. This is a view I hold and is open for correction so please offer your "Scriptural" take on this perhaps you can bring more light on the subject.
Naked in the Bible often means uncovered "Spiritually"
When we read Genesis 2:25 "And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
And then Genesis 3:7 "And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. (This happens after they ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.)
It's reasonable to think this is beyond being destitute of clothing.
Naked in the Bible often means uncovered Spiritually.
The word for naked is "erom", which means more than just unclothed, can also carry the idea of being guilty, exposed, and vulnerable to God's judgment.
So the question is, When did Adam become uncovered according to scripture?
When he sinned or when he was he born?
Note; I'm not asking when did he disobey God's commandment not to eat of the fruit, that was in Genesis 3. He was declared naked in chapter 2.
What did the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil do the Adam and Eve in declaring their eyes where opened?
Notice God's immediate response to their dilemma in Verses 3:10-11
"And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, BECAUSE I WAS NAKED; and I hid myself.
And he said, WHO TOLD THEE THAT THOU WAST NAKED? HAST THOU EATEN OF THE TREE, WHEREOF I COMMANDED THEE THAT THOU SHOULDEST NOT EAT?
God asked, "Who told thee that thou was naked?
That answer is, that got Knowledge of that from eating of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
So is this "unclothed state" something they were in previously?
Please read over your Scriptural answers carefully.
Here's one of many examples of how Nakedness is used in scripture.
Ezekiel 23:29, "And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
The post you placed on Nakedness and the difference between Adam and Christ. Was this to someone, you said more to come. I know you are busy, but this could be a good discussion for all to learn.
A difference between Adam and Christ in his humanity.
Adam was born Naked "metaphorically Vulnerable "
Jesus was clothed with light even while here on earth.
Some people view the two as both sons of God and one failed and the other endured and succeeded with both being capable of sin.
One of many differences between the two may be seen in the usage of the word "naked" in Genesis with the focus being on Adam.
As mentioned in my previous post, In Revelation it mentions nakedness along with being shame.
Revelation 3:17-18 "Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, AND THAT THE SHAME OF THY NAKEDNESS DO NOT APPEAR; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Revelation 16:15 "Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, LEST HE WALK NAKED, AND THEY SEE HIS SHAME.
(Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments.)
Nakedness is unclothed and meaning vulnerable. Perhaps to be ashamed one would have to have knowledge of good and evil.
In Genesis it mentions Adam and Eve being naked along with NOT being ashamed.
Genesis 2:25 it reads "And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were NOT ASHAMED.
After they ate of the fruit they covered themselves!
This emphasizes they now were ashamed.
Keep in mind they were already naked, uncovered and vulnerable.
So the question is what caused their shame? Was it the Knowledge of Good and Evil?
The first Adam, his disobedience brought sin and death into the world, Romans 5:12-19. The last Adam by obedience to God brought forgiveness and life, the resurrection from the dead, 1 Corinthians 15:21-22.
Adam and Eve were naked and were not ashamed, their hearts were uncorrupted and free from sin. After they ate the forbidden fruit their eyes were opened, their consciences were opened to the knowledge of good and evil, and sin replaced the purity they had. They had a sense of fear and disgrace due to their disobedience.
The shame they now felt was due to the sinful nature that entered them and now they no longer perfectly perceived things, their view of their nakedness should be covered. Nakedness was not a sin, but a fallen perception of nakedness brought shame and sorrow they now felt.
As God covered Adam and Eve with coats of skins to cover their shame/nakedness. Our nakedness of shame can be covered with the garment Isaiah 61:10 given by Jesus. We in Jesus shall not be found naked, but clothed, with the garment of Christ's righteousness, our sins covered and cleansed by the blood of Jesus that makes it spotless and white as long as we continue in faith and overcome.
Concerning those that do not die in the Lord, that do not watch, and keep their garments will walk naked, their sins will be open to being seen, Revelation 16:151 Timothy 4:1-2Revelation 20:15.
Every human being, whether they're saved or unsaved, and regardless of their culture, ethnicity, or background, has a conscience, Romans 2:14-15. Inside this conscience is the battle between the flesh and the Spirit Romans 9:1 we can repent and be covered, if not we will be naked and found guilty. We cannot hide what is in our conscience, it records every good and evil we have ever done or thought. I feel this is where we are naked or clothed. Romans 4:6-82 Corinthians 1:121 Timothy 1:19Hebrews 9:9Hebrews 13:181 Peter 3:21.
Well you were perfectly clear there Ronald and thank you . Adam and Eve lusted after the fruit and the knowledge that it would bring them . This same desperate lust can be seen all through the world . The desperation to explain away all the wonders of God's creation , the desperation to emulate God's power , the desperation to improve on and outdo God's awesome work . Science and technology and the adoration of it , this is satan , satan opposes God and what in our time , does more to oppose and dismiss and ridicule the very idea of God , more than science and technology and the proponents of it ? This is the anti- Christ . There are many others , working away at us , trying to undermine us , but the biggy and the one that is sooo pervasive and seducing of all people no matter what their creed is , is science and technology . We all love it don't we ? Scince has increased our ability to communicate our mostly evil thoughts and ideas ,from one end of earth to another in a second . Remember the tower of Babel ? What is God's verdict of it ? Genesis Ch 11 verse 6 . Thanks again Ronald , love in the Lord .
Yes, there is much in this world against us and God that will only increase in intensity in the future. Daniel was told in Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Much of this knowledge along with the imagination of man is not being used for good.
We can see the earth is around 6000 years old and look at the last 50 years how knowledge has increased, and people can go to and fro all over the world in just a short time, things are going faster every day. We must be strong in our faith and ready to face "the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world".
You stated "The shame they now felt was due to the sinful nature that entered them and now they no longer perfectly perceived things"
I agree that "The shame they now felt was due to the sinful nature", but I don't agree that nature entered them when they bit of the fruit. I believe it was already in them to disobey.
This is why Christ was foreordained as of a lamb without blemish and without spot before the foundation of the world, 1 Peter 1:19-20.
Also I believe the shame they experienced was CAUSED by their "Knowledge" of Good and Evil. They were shame because they "NOW" knew they were naked.
For instance, what if they would have disobeyed God in any other way?
Would they have known they were naked without the knowledge of Good and Evil and responded with shame and try to cover themselves?
Is scripture conclusive that this was their first act of disobedience?
However, even if it were their first act of disobedience, it still applies.
They were uncovered/ vulnerable, absent from the blood of the Lamb which is to atone for sin.
Notice where the emphasis is placed after the act.
Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were NAKED..
Verses 9-10, And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou;
And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was NAKED; and I hid myself.
11.) And he said, Who told thee that thou wast NAKED?..
21) Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins and clothed them.
22) And the LORD God said, BEHOLD, THE MAN IS BECOME AS ONE OF US, TO KNOW GOOD AND EVIL: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever:
BTW, you stated, "our sins covered and cleansed by the blood of Jesus that makes it spotless and white as long as we continue in faith and overcome. I'm not sure if you're saying that Christ clothing us covers our conscience or sin?
All was foreordained in the plan of God before the world was, God, knowing the end from the beginning. In Scripture when God put Adam in the garden, He planted for Adam to take care of, God only gave Adam one command, Genesis 2:16, do not eat from that one tree. This was before God made Eve because God said it was not good that man should be alone Genesis 2:18.
I know we disagree, but the first Adam and the last Adam came into this world without a sinful nature, one was disobedient one was obedient Romans 5:19.
Adam had free will, but the sinful nature did not enter him until Adam chose to be disobedient and ate from that tree that God commanded Adam to not eat from. Romans 5:12 "sin came into the world through one man and death through sin".
Yes, the eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil opened their consciences, and the shame of their disobedience was their nakedness, their sin was exposed, and with the knowledge of good and evil, the thoughts that come from being nude.
Jesus's blood covers our sins and makes our garments white as snow, sorry I was not clear.
Adam was made a living soul; naked and no knowledge of Good and Evil. Adam was to multiply man on earth.
The last Adam (Christ) was a life giving spirit who came so that those men can have a new birth.
He was clothed with his own righteousness and was referenced in Genesis 3:22, "And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become AS ONE OF US, to know good and evil"
He was also a life giving spirit.
The first man Adam was to multiply man on earth, he was never meant or able to give life.
Look at their origin in comparison with the emphasis on the last Adam.
1 Corinthians 15:47, The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the LORD FROM HEAVEN.
(To be born Again means (Born from above)
So yes we certainly disagree "that the first Adam and the last Adam came into this world without a sinful nature or vulnerable to sin.
(A) Adam and Eve did not know good and evil until they disobeyed and ate from the tree, that was when their eyes were opened. They became aware of physical lust caused by their disobedience/sin, which was what they were trying to cover, that is why I said the sin was their nakedness. Being naked was innocent before, in some parts of the world today being naked is innocent. Adam and Eve were not just trying to cover their bodies they were hiding from God who they disobeyed, like a kid hiding in the closet because they disobeyed their parents.
(B) Being naked does have a deeper meaning that has nothing to do with being nude. God made coats of skins to cover them, was this to cover their bodies, or to show His grace? I agree it foreshadowed Christ and the garment of salvation that covers our sins that we do not walk naked. Even though God cast them out of the garden to keep them away from the Tree of Life they were still in the presence of God.
There was only one command in Scripture I have read, and God did not form him out of the dust of the ground with a sinful nature but as the angels God gave him free will. If the first Adam was created with a sinful nature could God have said this; Gen 1:31.
As you say Adam was flesh, the meaning I feel you mean a sinful nature, contrary to the Spirit, living sinfully, walking in the world, this was the result of Adam's disobedience not from his sinless nature that God formed him.
My understanding, in God's plan the first Adam is the beginning of the salvation of man that has been hidden from Satan, even the death of the last Adam our Savior. If he had known the outcome he would have tried to stop it. The first Adam and the last Adam both were spotless one sinned and brought death our Savior did not and brought life. I will just say this if Jesus was not vulnerable to sin, how could He be tempted? Jesus was from heaven His Father is God.
My thinking is that Jesus' human nature could actually be tempted, but his divine nature could not, as James says that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does he tempt anyone. But, because the Person of Jesus was the divine Son of the Father, though His humanity was tempted as tested, His divine Person caused His human nature to resist every temptation He ever faced in all of His 33 years on earth.
I agree with you that Adam and Eve being naked before they sinned has deeper meaning than just the shame we may feel with physical nakedness.
I think that them being naked means:
1) They were not clothed with Christ prior to their sinning
2) Their nakedness shows that they were vulnerable to temptation and to sin because they did not have the wherewithal to prevail against temptation as Jesus did.
Jesus was the divine Son was made flesh ( John 1:14) who , Adam was a son of God but strictly human. The first Adam in Eden was without the sword of the Word of God, the second Adam, Jesus, WAS the Word of God. The first Adam did not know waht evil was but the second Adam, Jesus, knew all about Satab's rebellion and sin and the evil that ensued. The first Adam, in Eden, was able to sin; the second Adam, Jesus was unable to sin because His divine nature and person can never sin. These differences show us that man alone in his faculties, cannot resist temptation and sin. He will fall as Adam did. This is why we need a divine Savior who could not sin and who possessed everything necessary to defeat Satan and evil. In the Garden, satan defeated Adam, but in the Garden of Gethsemane Satan was defeated because Jesus chose the Father's will and not His own human will.
In the Eden, with all it possessed to keep Adam completely satisfied, the temptation to disobey prevailed because Adam wanted more than what God had provided and ordained, he preferred to "become like God" rather than to prefer God alone. In the wilderness temptation, Jesus was hungry in a place of desolation but He defeated Satan and his temptations because He preferred to become human in order to save mankind, not thinking that equality with God was something to be grasped from God, but humbled himself in becoming human for the purposes of the God. At the cross, Jesus triumphed over Satan, despoiling him and his power to deceive the whole world anymore.
Yes, do can some of what I am able to grow. I do not have a big garden. Just 4 raised beds. But I don't grow a great variety of vegies, just plant a few varieties and that way I get a big enough harvest of, say, tomatoes, or beans, or peppers. I have lettuce and salad greens growing in one bed. It is yielding more than we can eat. So, some goes to the food bank and some to people I know who do not have garden beds. I loved to see the progression from turning the dirt, to planting the seeds, to watering, then sprouting and then the abundance. It is an amazing process that God governs, even though we contribute to it in smaller ways.
Kind of like our daily walk with our Lord. He gives us life, causes us to grow and yield spiritual fruit and governs our days. But we have a responsibility to cooperate and obey him in all things. To neglect to do so is like failing to water our vegetable garden or pull out the weeds that take away from the good plants.
I believe I heard you say you live in the south. is that correct?
I am enjoying this conversation between you and S. Spencer. It gets me thinking about this subject more deeply.
I agree that the first Adam was sinless in Eden. God made him "very good" so nothing sinful was in Adam. He and Eve did not know what evil was or what sin was until they we tempted to do it. When we speak of them as being "perfect: we can take that to mean that they were exactly how God intended them to be. Even so, they were not "perfect" in the way those in Christ will be made perfect in the life to come when all in Christ will be glorified. Adam did not have this glorification in the Garden. He, too, needed to be placed in Christ, redeemed, die, and be resurrected like all of us. Then he and all of us will be unable to sin ever again.
And I agree that God did ordain all that happened in Eden for His glory and eternal purpose of redeeming by His grace and mercy a people for Himself who will live with Him forever in holiness as the elect angels do. In the end, we will know the glory of how God kept the elect angels pure and sinless and the glory of how He made elect sinful humans regenerated and forgiven, giving them eternal life and glorifying them in the life to come as His redeemed people. We will rejoice with the angels in the glory of both of these great purposes willed from before creation. We will also know the glory of his justice and judgment on the wicked angels and non-elect, the vessels of his wrath, as Rom. 9 speaks of this. God's aim in all things is to manifest the unfathomable glory of all He is, and so, in allowing Satan into the Garden to tempt Eve into sin and allowing Eve to convince Adam to sin also, God's eternal plan was able to be enacted in history and actuality.
The eternal counsels of God are beyond us. His ways are higher than ours and we are not able to completely find them out. But we can know that all He allows, ordains, wills, and purposes is eternally good, righteous and just. He is absolutely perfect
Thank you, there is a lot in the first books of Genesis looking at the first 3 chapters. We look for the understanding and what does it mean that Adam was not deceived but it was Eve who was deceived by the serpent, 1 Timothy 2:14 and 2 Corinthians 11:3. We cannot begin to comprehend the plan of God. To Him, things that are not, are already done, the gifts and grace He gives are predestined to all who will accept the gifts He offered before the world was.
We live in a time when our life is so short we sometimes struggle to even imagine what eternity will be like. But our faith and our hope are in Jesus by Him we are brothers and sisters and the children of God and one day we will be with Him on a new earth that our imaginations cannot even picture.
When Jesus returns, He will "make all things new, even us ho believe on Him. And, at my age of almost 68, my time is getting shorter and shorter each month that passes. I pray that God will grow my faith to be steady under trials and tribulations, along with the slow and steady changes my body makes as it leans towards my death. But then, hallelujah, comes life eternal! So praise be to our great God and King. He has done great things for us, more than we could ever imagine.
Reading your comment,I would say there was a population in Eden ruled by an annointed Cherub, created by our GOD to protect the Garden,he was perfect in his ways from the Day that was created, till iniquity was found in him,and turned a thief and corrupt. And by him sin entered in the world,so our GOD cast him and the population of Eden to hell, the earth turned void and without form, and GOD delivered them into chains of darkness to be reserved unto the Judgment( 2Peter 2:4& Jude 1:6-7)of this current seventh and last Day.Take a look 1Corinthians 6:2-3.
Our GOD did not say:I will make one man, but make man(many). The Plan of GOD was to restore all things. Acts 4:19-21->19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. 20 And He shall send JESUS Christ, which before was preached unto you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which GOD hath spoken(preached)by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
In fact,GOD said:Let us make man,He was not alone. It is easy to understand because it is written that in JESUS,that is,in the beginning,GOD created the heavens and the earth(the 1st,2nd and 3rd heavens, and the heaven of heavens),and without JESUS nothing was made that was made.By the way,the 3rd heavenly place will be established from now on,even in this current millennium( Luke 20:35-36,combined with 1Corinthians 15:24-27+51-55,and Philippians 3:20-21).
The Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing,understand?
Daniel 12:10
10Many shall be purified, made white, and tried;but the wicked shall do wickedly:none of the wicked shall understand;but the wise shall understand.
11From the time the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and abomination that makes desolate set up,there shall be 1290 days.
12Blessed is he that waits, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.
This "gap" theory is a possibility as the first verses of Genesis leave some room for such speculation such as this. But throughout the whole Bible there is not any account of this happening, who may have been involved, or how events unfolded. So, thanks for the mention of this. But as for me, I can wait until I am with Jesus to find out if this really happened. I leave it as an open idea for now.
See, we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: But we speak the wisdom of GOD in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which GOD ordained before the world unto our glory, which none of the princes of this world knew. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of GOD knows no man, but the Spirit of GOD. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of GOD; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of GOD.
But GOD has revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of GOD. 1Corinthians 2:6-16.
I just thought I should mention to you that when you said that the bible says in Genesis 1:1 "in the beginning,GOD created the heavens and the earth," that actually, it says: In the beginning God created the heaven (singular) and the earth. The modern versions, which I believe are not Holy Ghost inspired like the KJB is, put an 's' implying plural heavens but the Holy Spirit wrote it as one heaven. God Bless :)
In my view, according to the Word of GOD,there are the 1st,2nd and 3rd heavens, and the heaven of the heavens.
What does the Word of GOD say?
Moses said: Deuteronomy 10:14KJV->Behold,the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord's thy GOD, the earth also, with all that therein is.
1Kings 8:27KJV->27 But will GOD indeed dwell on the earth?behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
Psalms 33:6KJV->By the Word of the Lord were the HEAVENS made;and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
Psalms 148:4KJV-4 Praise him,ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.
Job 14:12->12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.
When Scriptures say heaven(singular) they refer to a specific heaven, i.e. to one of the four heavens GOD created, understand? The problem is to discern which of them Scriptures refer.
So,when you intend to post a message, you should FIRST to judge if your message fits with the Word of GOD or not,and if not fit with Scriptures, don't post it. Paul Apostle, was caught to the 3rd heaven, once 3rd heaven exists, also exist the 1st and 2nd heavens.
Re.12:12-Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them( Ephesians 1:3-8). Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!for the Devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has but a short time.
Furthermore, you said the modern versions are not Holy Ghost inspired like the KJB is,put an 's' implying plural heavens but the Holy Spirit wrote it as one heaven. Now,to say that the modern versions of the Word of GOD are not inspired by the Holy Spirit is a serious error, in fact what you wrote was/is not inspired by the Holy Spirit,in fact you need to rethink the things you wrote for good to them that love GOD,to them who are the called according to His purpose.
I was only referring to Genesis 1:1 which you misquoted. We can disagree with one another, that's what discussion is all about but your attitude is rude and arrogant which I want no part of so I won't be doing any moe discussions with you.
First let's deal with the second half of your reply listed in sections A and B below.
You stated;
A) the eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil opened their consciences, and the shame of their disobedience was their nakedness, their sin was exposed.
My reply; how could it be that the shame of "their disobedience" was their nakedness if they were naked before they disobeyed? Genesis 2:25.
So if we continue with that logic, If nakedness means their sin was exposed, then sin was in them to do BEFORE they ate of the fruit.
B) and with the knowledge of good and evil, the thoughts that come from being nude.
My reply; I believe that being naked has a much broader meaning than being nude as we mentioned previously.
When they sewed fig leaves on they were still naked in God's eyes.
Here's my thoughts on the rest of your reply.
My Emphasis is on them being naked before they were disobedient and what that meant.
Were they complete or perfect as Christ was in the flesh?
For one there was a sacrifice made for them that foreshadowed Christ who was ordained as the Lamb of God before the foundation of the world.
Also,
We have no scripture on whether if God only gave Adam that one command or not.
I believe this is recorded to put emphasis on the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, Adam's nakedness, and the tree of life and the results following the transgression.
However, even if there were only one command he gave Adam, Good and Evil still existed and that is something Adam had no knowledge of!
He responded in a way that flesh does in its rebellious nature.
Adam was flesh, we inherited that.
Adam was naked, we inherited that.
Adam done what a uncovered man does, 'SIN" we inherited that.
Good evening brother Spencer! Hope all is well for you and all. Very happy to see the discussion continuing! An another evening drop-in :). I have also been thinking how Adam and Eve were made the past many weeks. We know they were made very good as part of everything made in the sixth day. I would believe that having been made very good they had a covering at least by the hand of God himself by His image. Having been placed in the garden to dress and keep it was also good and they had all that they needed. And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself. The first couple fell into unbelief and sin and their nakedness was immediately known to each other. They now had no covering before the Father and could no longer remain in the garden. The Father however was Merciful and provided the Promise and covered them with skins for their protection as they entered into their own works no longer at rest.
I'm finally settled in for the night and thanks again for responding!
I viewed your thoughts and I have a few things I would like you to consider.
I portioned them out and would like to address them separately.
1) You stated; We know they were made very good as part of everything made in the sixth day. I would believe that having been made very good they had a covering at least by the hand of God himself by His image.
Having been placed in the garden to dress and keep it was also good and they had all that they needed.
My thoughts;
"When God says that it was good he's not talking about Adam's spiritual condition! God mentioned the same thing about the light, the seas, the grass and the herb, the cattle, the creeping things, the two great lights to rule over the day and night, and on and on until he finished his creation.
As for setting him in the garden of Eden. Well that didn't work out.
2) Continuing your quote;
"And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself.
My thoughts;
You said nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature.
However, In Genesis 2:25
Adam was naked BEFORE he listened to the voice of his wife.
Also Adam wasn't deceived by Satan according to 1 Timothy 2:14.
Adam made the decision to disobey God!
The decision process comes before the act.
He wasn't created perfect and the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil opened his eyes to that.
There's only one perfect being to walk here on earth and that's God himself manifested in the flesh!
Hello brother Spencer, Thank you for making time for some thoughts. For this evening, I would like to stay with my premise that God made Adam and Eve very good in the sixth day before He rested. This thought in Job:
"The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life." Job 33:4 KJV .This verse shows that Life is good and it includes spiritual life as it is made in the likeness of the Spirit of God as everything was in the beginning.
Adam was placed in the garden by God the Father to dress and keep it. We know this by the scripture. We also know by scripture that Adam and his wife Eve did not remain in the state that they were made. When they became naked to each other they were also naked to God the Father and they knew it and tried to hide it.
Adam and his wife Eve were predestinated to the first estate of being made very good physically, emotionally and spiritually for the purpose of dressing and keeping the garden and I would believe as humble children of God. God loved them. It is important to believe that God placed them in the garden himself and that they did not enter on their own. With their free will with power they allowed themselves to be deceived and left this estate and garden in unbelief which is resistance and sin before God the Father.
Now thinking of Titus chapter 3:4-5 the kindness and love of God (the Father) our Savior appeared toward man. This new covering of love with skins and a Promise happened in the garden. His mercy was their salvation. Mercy was free of the works of righteousness which we have done and they too.
Even by faith and hope Adam and Eve went to sleep in their own works of righteousness. We can hope that this covering of Mercy carried them to the second Adam our Christ whose blood is our true covering for our own sin, as we pray by faith for ourselves and every neighbor.
"This new covering of love with skins and a Promise happened in the garden.
End quote.
You also stated: Adam and his wife Eve were predestinated to the first estate of being made very good physically, emotionally and spiritually for the purpose of dressing and keeping the garden.
I believe the covering God provided represents the Covering of Christ.
No one is predestinated "AROUND" Christ. He's the door, you have to go through him.
I believe Adam and Eve was saved by a provided sacrifice that pointed to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, God placed Adam and Eve on the Garden but that doesn't mean they were in no need of a savior.
Like us, Adam had to be aware of his depravity before he could be saved. That happened when his eyes were opened.
Again, this is not a bash Adam. He's the first man created with the purpose to multiply the earth.
God could have chosen me or you and put us in the Garden to keep it and have dominion over the earth.
We would have done the same thing Adam did, fail and Put mankind under the necessary means of needing the knowledge of our nakedness and the necessity of a rebirth by way of sacrifice.
And there is only one that could qualify to do that and that's Christ. Acts 4:12.
A sacrificial offering had to be flawless! Adam proved he wasn't flawless.
God gave the best he had to offer and that was his Son who died even though he was incapable of sin because he came out of the bosom of the father.
Good afternoon brother Spencer. I will meditate on your words that you have written. I do believe that Adam had a spirit that was in alignment with the will and obedience of His Father as God breathed a living soul into him.
I am in Mississippi not too far away from you. Nice to be in this part of the country again. We are here for a wedding reception and learning to know our daughter's husband and his family and our Church people here in Mississippi and the townsfolk too. Might be awhile before I can get back to you again. Thank you!
Carleton, just so we're clear, the focal point of this thread is that we are comparing Christ nature and Adam's.
We're not talking about whether Adam was saved or not.
I believe Christ was God. That says enough about his nature.
I believe Adam was a living soul. Huge difference!
With that being said here's Your Quote.
" Job 33:4 "The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life."
This verse shows that Life is good, and it includes spiritual life as it is made in the likeness of the Spirit of God as everything was in the beginning. End quote.
Sorry Carleton but I can't agree with that.
For one, if Adam was created in the likeness of the Spirit of God, then there would be no need for a rebirth to enter the Kingdom of God.
The scripture is clear that the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:45.
I believe Job 33:4 speaks of creation not salvation. God breathed in Adam nostrils, and he became a living soul.
God's creativity is the handiwork of the Spirit - the same Spirit who hovered over the waters at creation ( Genesis 1:2)
Christ was a quickening Spirit, clothed with light and gave us "including Adam" his spirit.
Satan was able to trip up Adam by way of Eve "his bride" because they were Naked.
Satan had power over Christ!
Satan goes after the bride Christ, but Christ is our shepherd, and we have his Spirit in us. We're clothed in Christ righteousness.
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10.
Thanks and God bless.
A difference between Adam and Christ.
Part 2a.
To be continued.
God bless.
The post you placed on Nakedness and the difference between Adam and Christ. Was this to someone, you said more to come. I know you are busy, but this could be a good discussion for all to learn.
God bless,
RLW
Yes, I believe that can be a great discussion.
I have so busy this week.
It would do well to get an concordance and see how Nakedness is often used in the Bible, in declares a sense of vulnerability.
Clothing often has spiritual significance as well.
In many places in the Bible clothing has symbolized the need to cover our sin and shame.
Nakedness and to be clothed is often used symbolically in scripture.
I will continue in a day or two.
God bless
Concerning those that do not die in the Lord, that do not watch, and keep their garments will walk naked, their sins will be open to being seen, Revelation 16:15 1 Timothy 4:1-2 Revelation 20:15.
Romans 4:6-8 2 Corinthians 1:12 1 Timothy 1:19 Hebrews 9:9 Hebrews 13:18 1 Peter 3:21.
God bless,
RLW
God bless,
RLW
Thanks for responding!
Verses 9-10, And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou;
GB.
God bless,
RLW
Part 2.
There's only one did and that's Christ.
God bless.
Thank you, brother, in love,
(A) Adam and Eve did not know good and evil until they disobeyed and ate from the tree, that was when their eyes were opened.
God bless,
RLW
My thinking is that Jesus' human nature could actually be tempted, but his divine nature could not, as James says that God cannot be tempted with evil, nor does he tempt anyone. But, because the Person of Jesus was the divine Son of the Father, though His humanity was tempted as tested, His divine Person caused His human nature to resist every temptation He ever faced in all of His 33 years on earth.
Have a blessed night of rest, Ronald.
Good conversation going on here.
They were not clothed with Christ prior to their sinning"
Well stated!
Our righteousness is always described as a garment. Jesus is described as being clothed in light.
God bless.
I'm finishing up on a long work day and getting ready to shut it down for tonight.
I believe I'm 3 hours ahead of some of you.
I try to get in the bed by 8pm every night.
I start my day around 4am.
Thanks and God bless.
I live in the Pacific NW and so you are hours ahead of me.
So, have a good night sleep and we can talk again when you are available.
I have a very small area I tried to grow some tomatoes and peppers but it didn't go well. Not enough sunlight. To many trees.
We did get one salad out of it.
Blessings
God bless,
RLW
JESUS's sacrifice lasts 738500 days
This "gap" theory is a possibility as the first verses of Genesis leave some room for such speculation such as this. But throughout the whole Bible there is not any account of this happening, who may have been involved, or how events unfolded. So, thanks for the mention of this. But as for me, I can wait until I am with Jesus to find out if this really happened. I leave it as an open idea for now.
Thank you for your reply.
GOD BLESS
Perhaps I should know this but, when you talk about the "population in Eden" are you talking about other angles?
God Bless :)
You meant angles or angels?
If angels I am talking of the same was refered by Peter Apostle - 2Peter 2:4 and Jude 1:6
Thank you for your reply.
Thanks again for responding.
First let's deal with the second half of your reply listed in sections A and B below.
You stated;
See part 2.
Carleton
I'm finally settled in for the night and thanks again for responding!
I viewed your thoughts and I have a few things I would like you to consider.
I portioned them out and would like to address them separately.
1) You stated; We know they were made very good as part of everything made in the sixth day. I would believe that having been made very good they had a covering at least by the hand of God himself by His image.
Having been placed in the garden to dress and keep it was also good and they had all that they needed.
My thoughts;
2) Continuing your quote;
"And yet nakedness began by listening to a fellow creature rather than being obedient to the Word of the Father himself.
My thoughts;
God bless.
God bless our meditation.
Part 2.
Again, quoting you:
"This new covering of love with skins and a Promise happened in the garden.
God bless.

Might be awhile before I can get back to you again. Thank you!

Part 1.

How are you?
This is a important topic to understand the nature of man.
This topic will take us on into the Millennium when said and done.
Unfortunately I will have to wait until I can buy some time.
I will respond to you and others in due time.
