Re.6:1-8 "Fourth Part of the earth" (1 of 2)

" And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth." Fourth part of the earth refers to the Law which kills.("But the Spirit giveth life"-2 Co.3:6). St Paul refers to the dispensation given to him," Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God."(Col.1:25) These dispensations are to fulfill the word of God. So God tells his Son,"The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool."(Ps.110:1). The rider on the white horse does just that. We do not see him till much later in Ch.19. " And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war."His name is Word of God. (19:11-13) We can safely identify him as Jesus Christ since he has a new name more excellent than any other name."and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself." We have it annotated in this passage,"and given him a name which is above every name:/That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;/And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."(Ph.2:9-11) The Four beasts embodying the Law of the Spirit makes the Word cover the length, breadth and depths so one fourth is merely indicative of the Word.

Similar power is given to the riders on their horses each colour coded. Their power is devolved from God, and God ways are not our ways so there is no way we shall understand the methodology. Our assurance is that the Spirit giveth life and the the everlasting covenant promises blessing to the believer. But to the rebellious, " Thus saith the Lord; Such as are for death, to death; and such as are for the sword,"
