"As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image."( v. 20)
A parallel idea in the matter of our lives being like a dream within a dream is here:"Consider and hear me, OLordmy God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;"(13.3) This sleep is like sitting down to a feast and waking up hungry as ever. Thus nation wicked ones every one of them to divide the spoils the heritage of the saints redeemed from the earth and of his Son. "and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion." (Isa.29.8). This Zion is his holy habitation. If these ungodly nations were allowed they might even plunder the moon, and galaxies wherever they might reach. Greed of man as we see now require some two or more earths but when Satan has taken over the mind of a man his dependence on what he craves trebles while his happiness factor nosedives inversely. Opioid crisis in affluent societies showed us this much.
"And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches."(vv.11-12)
Coming back to v. 20 As a dream our earthly lives end and St Paul says,"In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."(1 Cor.15.52) it is in context of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. David refers to it,'O Lord when thou awakest', and do the wicked get privileges they rapaciously claimed for themselves?
