    Ezek.28.12-14 "Covering cherub" (1 of 2)

"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day."

Of this angelic order we shall first consider the covering cherub who was set up by the will of God. He left his own habitation and taking along all those who supported his own will," will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High./ Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."(Isa.14.14-15) God has reserved in everlasting chains and it is under darkness, here Jude refers. This is further supported by Rev.20.1-3. In the Vision of the Woman clothed with the sun we have a reference to the war in heaven and the displacement."he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."(Rev.12.9)

The cherub covers sons of perdition as children of light abide under the most High. "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." The Spirit has thus given us additional references to support the spiritual truth stated in Gen.1.3-4 "And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness." By the same token compare this phrase the sides of the pit 'Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit" It is similar to the sides of the north in the context of Zion, "the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.("I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north.")(Isa.14.13; Ps.48.2). Ezekiel refers to the King of Tyrus who is the proxy for the cherub. This man-angel measurement we also find in use with regards to the holy city. "according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel."(Rev.21.17)Lucifer. dragon, prince of the power of the air are all used in reference to the angels who left their first state.
