1 Kings 16:29-30 Ahab was king of Israel. He had authority, but not conviction. 1 Kings 16:31 He married Jezebel, a pagan princess from Tyre who worshipped Baal. 1 Kings 16:32-33 With her came not just a woman... A cult came. Idolatry came. Blood came. Ahab stopped listening to God's voice in order to please the queen (implicit throughout his reign, especially in 1 Kings 21 and 22). 1 Kings 18:4 Jezebel used the throne to manipulate, persecute and silence all that was of God. 1 Kings 18:13 She had prophets killed. 1 Kings 16:32 She built altars to Baal. 1 Kings 19:2 She persecuted Elijah.

Ahab was king. Jezebel was queen. But it was his ego that really ruled. The power that was supposed to protect became a tool of control.

Political marriage, alliance with idolatry.Prophets persecuted. The truth silenced.A throne sustained by fear, vanity and cowardice.

And when the vineyard of a simple man was desired by the king, Jezebel plotted. She forged documents, set up false witnesses and had Naboth killed. All to satisfy a whim.

But God saw. And he said through Elijah:

"In the place where the dogs licked the blood of Naboth, they will also lick yours, Ahab.""And Jezebel will be devoured by the dogs by the wall of Jezreel." 1 Reis 21:17-19, 23

Ahab died in battle. A "random" arrow pierced his armor. His blood flowed. And the dogs licked it up. Jezebel tried to maintain control until the end. She put on make-up, adorned herself, showed off (v. 30). But she was thrown out of the window. Stepped on. And eaten by dogs. All that was left was her skull, her feet and her hands. 2 Kings 9:33-35 What was left of her appearance... was precisely what she exposed the most.
