    PResumption Part 2

I am sure that I'm missing some stuff here but in the New Testament with Ananias and Sapphira they probably were presumptious on God's grace and understanding in the way they changed their promise for a full payment of something vowed; a no no. God knew and nothing could be kept from Him. A person in real need would have offered half of what they owned to begin with if the rest was important to keep. WE could talk about the Pharisees and who they presumed Christ was and how the Messiah would behave that they had from portions of scripture they weren't fully enlightened on. May we be as Gideon and the angel when he was told that he was on the Lord's side; as God can chastise us by placing people against us due to stubborness; whether we are saved or not. By and large he won't bother with the unregenerate but of course we don't know who they are; at least at first.

Let me see the definition of presumption. Webster's online says: overstepping due bounds (as of propriety or courtesy) : taking liberties. Hmm. Let me ponder this a bit.

This is very short and also perhaps broader than I realize. I suppose it could apply to those who always have a dream; or vision as attempting to place it at the level of scripture; or women teaching in church; or anything else not permitted.

We have verses such as this: You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north. ( Deut. 2:3) and

    Joshua 7:10-12 (Message translation)

10-12 God said to Joshua, "Get up. Why are you groveling? Israel has sinned: They've broken the covenant I commanded them; they've taken forbidden plunder-stolen and then covered up the theft, hoarding it up with their own stuff. The People of Israel can no longer look their enemies in the eye-they themselves are plunder. I can't continue with you if you don't rid yourselves of the cursed things.

I used this because I like the word groveling. Here He says go so at times inaction is presumption.
