"Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt."
This is the word of God that God spoke through Jeremiah, 'And speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.'
The day refers to the decree of God," Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee."(Ps.2.7) The Son is none other than Jesus Christ who is the word become flesh. The Word was with God sets Jeremiah after our likeness' is a double. Joseph is a double after in our image' so Joseph and Jeremiah are tagged by 12 and 7 respectively. This we see in Elim where the Israelites came and it was God who 'brought them forth out of the land of Egypt.
"And they came to Elim, where were twelve wells of water, and threescore and ten palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters."(Exod,15,27) What does 12 indicate? It is the gospel of God. 70 palm trees refers the Law of the Spirit. Encamping there signifies the Covenant of seven days made manifest. The rest of God on the day Seven has all the principal elements set up by the water. Let us look what holds these together.
"And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter." Now we a tree that God chose for the people: "5 And he cried unto the Lord; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them.(15.22) He proved them that they cannot have rest or enter therein without the tree. It references the tree of life and also the proof why they shall be accursed. The cross on which his Son was hung up established the curse. " Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,"(Jer.11.3) There he put their faith to test. So what do we hear? "But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
