Repentance: Part 4 Waking up from our slumber

Romans 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The Cantata Sleepers Awake by J.S. Bach says this: "Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme" ("Awake", we are called by the voice [of the watchmen]), (Wikipedia).

I recommend highly that many here take a few minutes to listen to his very uplifting organ piece.

At present we are sandwiched between the extremist rantings of those continually coming up with Rapture dates and those who are bypassing any concept or belief in that and embracing Dominionism; thus symbolically "hogtying" Christ from returning until the church is fully ready; thus creating a situation which is a self fulfilling prophecy of being left behind and substituting the true Messiah with a false one. No doubt the Devil is laughing all the way to the bank as it were; as souls are being bankrupted with either obsession at the moment.

The true church is clearly being attacked from all sides; those who have prayed for so long that the persecution won't come to us here in the good old USA have fallen for the other tactic of the enemy on a large part; that of ecumenicalism. Now I am not here to argue as to whether or not more good or evil comes out of what is being touted the start of a revival in this nation based on recent events. I will say that any rational minded mature believer can see both results as with any move of God the enemy is waiting in the wings to screw things up to the best of his ability. Personally I tend to avoid almost all big events; which goes along with my personality to some extent so I pray that I will be involved if and when God calls me in that direction. I will also say that ANY large scale movement that doesn't also correspond with persecution shows strong signs of not being from God (again notwithstanding individuals such as Ray Comfort for instance).
