v.15 "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." God tasked him with to dress it and also keep it. Eve was yet to come so may guess the presentation of the first begotten to the world before the host of angels. They knew their relative positions and Adam in his Son has a name to begin with.'as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they."(Heb.1.4,6)
v.16 "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:."
. The angels were designated as ministering spirit so Adam did not know anything other than what God had to impart. This explains why the specific commandment was a big deal. It was the simple question of obedience. Untested faith is no faith. He had to prove his DNA was as that of his Son.
17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
The Lord God has by a decree delivered the Day. (Ps.2.7) So 'this day' is not simply so many hours but setting the relation of Adam to him by the Word which was God. His Son bore 'our image' as Adam by the same token was 'after our likeness'. In the Word circular Adam was like the one who put his hand over the plough. "No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."Lk.9.62) Whosoever denied the Son denied the Father. Adam's disobedience was not simply disobedience but refusal to honour Him. He was guilty of the same sin as Moses. He refused to honour his Son as well as Him. He sin was against 'heaven and before thee'. " Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee."(Lk.15.18)
