    Annotated Gen.3. 14-15 "The serpent"

"And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

The serpent under curse suddenly loses his backbone. Upon his belly shall thou go. The serpent as created by God in the world framed by God is how Jesus makes an object lesson of him."Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."(Mt.10.16) The world of shadows under the cover of darkness refer to the world where natural man and who is earthy is in his element.

What Jesus refers is holy mountain of Zion and holy Jerusalem, where as Isaiah says, And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den./They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea."(Isa.11.8-9)

So let us place Jesus and his disciple in a world as distinct from the world without. The sign Immanuel refers to the world where God among us before sending his sheep has to warn them of the world where the prince of this world has let nations make their own rules. Their rules are for wolves to the detriment of the sheep. Man who holding the highest office shall wage war against his own house but demand to be called a peace maker and a prize, in recognition of it. You see sycophancy of men going on their bellies to pamper his whims, however immoral may be. This is what God tells the serpent who served as a proxy for the devil.

v.15 " And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." This enmity is what Ge.1.2 refers. Generation of Jesus Christ on which the Spirit of God canwork with while darkness covers the seed of the serpent.
