The tree of life signifies Jesus Christ so Isaiah refers to him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground." The Covenant refers to him under day Three. "And the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth."(1.11)
Simon Peter compares this incorruptible seed, " by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."From various evidences God planted him in the garden andAdam was allowed to eat the fruit of it. By disobedience the tree judged Adam. Hence forth thorns and thistles signified the ground cursed for his sake.
This tree was still accessible to man if he sought it with all his heart and mind. The flaming sword like the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire were signs and would never fail. For this reason the voice from the midst of the burning bush, and it was God. " God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I./And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground." It is thus God sets an hedge around whom God has chosen so they shall know the difference between holy and the profane. "That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;"(Phi.2.15)
Blessedness promised to a child of God Ps.1.1-3. He brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Abiding in the true Vine, 'I am the truth' keeps us steady, fruits are our works, and everlasting life is signified by leaves. (Rev.22.2)
