Adam was in the likeness of God while last Adam in the will of the Father is set as the quickening spirit. The Spirit now presents us two families of the first Adam and the last Adam having to do with a spiritual body to which we shall come by and by. The Covenant from the outset make clear the blessings are from the Lord . Seed of the woman as a phrase is coined by Him. The Law of Moses renders what the firstborn reckoned in the mind of God. (Exod.13.12)
Sin of disobedience creates 'enmity between thy seed and her seed' and it is thus we shall follow the narrative thread of two lists of genealogies. (3.15). In short all blessings are from God, to which Eve refers with the birth of Cain, "I have gotten a man from the Lord." Cain in due course follows the footsteps of his father 'to till the ground from whence he was taken'. Abel his younger brother was a keeper of the sheep.
v.3 "And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord."
Cain offers fruit of the ground unto the Lord which did not please Him as that Abel brought, and the Spirit uses 'respect' indicating a spiritual foreknowledge similar to the revelation of Simon Peter(Mt.16.16-17; 2.23) or his own father displayed on the creation of the woman, "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman. Be that as it may inspired by the Holy Spirit he brought of 'the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering." Abel took extra care to please God, which is faith. " By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts. " Heb. 11.4)
