"Annotated Gen.18.14 Year of the Lord"

"At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." Here the day set by the Lord is the acceptable year of the Lord. (Isa.61.1) The same analogy as with day decreed for the Son works here. (Ps.2.7) The Covenant is set in seven days, and the day of the Lamb consequently are pendent. Day of the Lamb associated with the Passover is rounded by day of the Lord in Joel 2.31; Isa 13.6 and 2 Pet.3.10. We are in the cusp of the day beginning with Sodom. This chapter is special for several reasons. Lot followed Abraham and went one full circle as descibed in chs 12-13. Lot separated from Abraham and chose the plain of Jordaan, with eyes wide open. God showed Lot what was way ahead when he required to be rescued by Abraham and his confederates. Thus the Spirit has been instructing in going by appearances. Lot was far gone in his folly to be helped.

The visitation of God in thein the plains of Mamre was a folloup for making one full round where God provedi n Egypt that God was his shield and exceeding great reward. The three men now made the Word circular manifest, connecting thhe patriarch as a double for his Son. Specifically the Lord meant Isaac and the birth of Jesus Christ. In order to establish this connection St Matthew gospel begis with the generation of Jesus Christ against which the Spirit names him as the son of Abraham.

God confides Abraham as with his Son who is the word become flesh, so he is in the loop to use a buzzword of our times. "I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know."(v.21)

Sodom was 'was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord,." Babylon is Rev.18 had much to commend for, Sin city where the sun never set. and wealth was to be created by all means. The end justified the means. Remember its fall?
