Jacob, see my comment on John 14. As in the great commission, which is part of the gospel, Jesus asks us to make disciples of all nations and He wanted them to believe and be baptized. Matthew 28 18 20. On the day of Pentecost when Holy Spirit filled apostles spoke in other languages from other countries the Holy Spirit gave them utterance for the foreign Jews , these people spoke the good news. The listeners were hearing, believing believing that we are saved by His death, resurrection , repenting, confessing Christ as Lord, then baptized, immersed by the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They were added to the church that day. Today in the 21st century, we still follow that plan. Jesus, the Word has given us the Way to Him. There is no new way. When He completed His mission on earth, it was done. The Holy Spirit can guide us into all truth. In Corinthians 15, followers were beginning to change the gospel from the way it was first delivered and Paul was warning against that.
