Paul was warning these believers not to put any confidence in the flesh. Notice it is the "evil dogs" or the "concision" who do such things! Mere religion is worthless and will have you working yourself to death only to discover you are still human and have a sin nature, but rejoicing in Christ and trusting Him alone brings peace and rest. He accomplished it all!
