  • Ada Ngozi Anyanwu on Ecclesiastes 1:18 - 12 years ago
The entire book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon as inspired by the Holy Spirit. It's no wonder that the greatest gift given by God is Wisdom. It is written that "Wisdom is the principal thing", however paradoxically, verse 18 here expresses that the attainment of Wisdom brings grief, in this context, this is just proverbial and means that mankind must be mindful of the values of life. If we refer back to the previous verses of chapter 1, Ecclesiastes is giving us a deeper understanding of who God is and what Man's role in this life id. We know that man continues to strive most times for things that are corruptible, temporary, having lesser value for the things that are eternal and guaranteed. God indpired Solomon to take heed of knowledge which is just inferior and meaningless, but hidden in this chapter there is we ought to
really seek God's intention for us and have a fulfilling life. In Genesis, God warns Adam and Eve not to eat fruit from a certain tree (the tree of knowledge - discernment of good and evil). The repercussions of too much knowledge can bring negative results if God is ignored. God is the highest authority in Wisdom and there is no end to His Superiority or Power. Man should submit to God in all things and begin to live a fulfilling life that brings eternal Joy, Peace and Love.

Everytime I read this psalm, it comforts me and gives me confidence that there is no other power, spirit or pricipality that can confront the power in the precious blood of the lamb (LORD JESUS CHRIST). Our GOD is awesome!

I will like to focus on Father YAHWEH's love for Israel as well as for us who have been taken into the Family of YAHWEH through the salvation in His Son YAHSHUA who is called Jesus. it is His love for Israel He punished them and it is with the same Love He pardoned them and deliver them. We must understand that it is because the Eternal Father loves us He has to refine us even with punishment, but He has power to forgive us and revive us and empower us to live righteous life.

Who is this Jesus you ask? Is this Bible a storybook? Answer: First the Bible is not a storybook but rather a living breathing book that once you have accepted Christ as your Savior the Holy Spirit resides within you (the Comforter Jesus promised to send after His resurrection and acension to heaven)and guides you and reveals the scriptures to you. It is the only book that the author is present each time you read it and reveals more and more to you as you grow in your daily life with Jesus who is the Christ. Second: Jesus is the only begotten Son of God full of grace and truth ( John 3:16-17) who came to die for us and pay the sin debt He did not owe for us who could not pay the debt of sin we owed. How marvelous to know and understand that the Holy God of heaven and earth and all there is was willing to do such a thing! Romans 3:23 gives us the state we are born into but John 3:16 and 1 John 1:9 are two of many verses that tells us how to come to Jesus to accept the free gift of salvation. Jesus is the way the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through Him. Keep searching the scriptures and pray God to reveal the truth to you and you will see who this Jesus is and how wonderful it is to have Him in your heart and part of your life.

Verse 4; Jesus loved His mother and what is rude to us is different as how things were done in those days and the customs. He made sure on the cross that she was cared for by speaking to John and to Mary that he was her son and she his mother. In that day and age women had no status and had to have a man to do things and be accepted. He was "special"? No, He was and is God, the Son of God, which makes Him higher than man and our Creator. John 1 states in the beginning was the Word and also all things were made by Him and for Him. A holy and just God comes down to us to give us salvation would He really be rude to His own earthly Mother of whom He said was blessed above all women? I don't think so. I believe it was a term of enddearment and as another stated affirming who she was. Notice He did obey her.

...Christ means the anointing, ie, Jesus Christ is the anointed one.It did not say (...who strengthens as a person) but (...which strengthens, thus it is the anointing that strengthens, that enables us that empowers us to do all things) just as it enabled Jesus to do every thing. There is no limitation to the anointing.

This is no doubt an ausome portion of scripture concerning frogivness when we are willing to acknowledge our sin, turn from it and return home to our heavenly father....however the story is oftentimes misinterpreted that the Lord is mercifull to us when we continue in sin and turn his grace into disgrace. Titus ch 2 tells us that grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lust and to live soberly and RICHEOUSLY in this present world.....not to continue in ungodlieness and use this portion of scripture as an escape goat & that our father is always there for us when we decide to return! 2 Thessalonions ch 2 tells us that GOD HIMSELF will send us a strong delution and we will believe a lie and be dammed...all because we loved not the truth....part of truth is.....real, true, sincere repentence of your sins and turning away from your old lifestyle being babtised in Jesus name & recieving the babtism of the holy ghost as thy did in the book of acts! Never should we take advantage of Gods grace and mercy and treat it as a light thing!

We are all sinners, (Rm3:23) And because of sin we will die. (Rm.6:23) (Heb.9:27) Regardless of what choices we make in this life we will die. That is, physically. However. Christ has promised us new life through His blood if we'll but repent and believe on Him and accept His sacrifice for our sins. (Rm.5:8) Rather than give up and give in to the circumstances around us (whatever they may be) We have a choice we can choose life eternal and die to ourselves and put ourselves in the hands of the One who died for us.

  • Sifon on Colossians 3:23 - 12 years ago
my understanding of this verse is simple.
The word what so ever cuts across every human endeavor, it means our deeds out there should be with the mindset of serving God. many serve God only when they are in the fourwalls of church and turn to something else out there at workplace and home, but if they have this understanding that what ever they do is onto the lord they will live in the fear of the lord every where they Go, thank you.

  • Bobbi on Genesis 31 - 12 years ago
What I take away from this chapter is Jacob's incredible patience and doing each thing requested of him by his father-in-law over and over again without getting angry and outraged .....he was subservient and obedient and controlled any outrage he may have felt by the constant betraying of his father=in=law's word to him who would instead ask for more and more of Jacob...Jacob acted respectfully and compliant to his father in laws demands and requests even though they were unfair and unjust.....Jacob instead of taking matters into his own hands....relied on Jehovah and His mercy...God brought him through all this because he relied on God to take care of everything including the injustices he suffered....this chapter teaches us to hang in there relying on God to take care of injustices and those who perpetrate them on us even it takes years....God acts in His own time....we must have faith that He has our backs.....

  • AKPAMA EBIONDO on John 9:4 - 12 years ago
JOHN 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

Man is defined as MORNING, AFTERNOON, AND NIGHT.
MORNING: when we came into this temporal world.
AFTERNOON: period of toiling, acquisition of wealth, position, fame, material posessions, etc....
NIGHT: death, old age, end of toiling, period were one faces the Judgement of Christ.

    THE BIG QUESTION:
What work are u doing: Good or bad. Whom are u working for: Christ or the Devil. Are u Serving God or u are being Served, Are u wasting Time or u are Investing Time. Remember, U are only a custodian to whatever God has put in your hand, God owns it. The life you live, it is not you that lives, But Christ that lives in you, moves in you, and in Him you consists. DONT' SHARE GODS GLORY WITH HIM, SERVE GOD WITH ALL THAT HE HAS GIVEN TO YOU.
  • Lyn on Psalms 126 - 12 years ago
The Lord replaces our tears of joy with His joy. We plant the seed and God gives the harvest which we reap with joy.As we submit before our Lord we often do so with tears of repentance. As we give our hearts, our words to others He brings forth the harvest. The sheaves are the fruit of the harvest, the final result of the ploughing, the planting, the watering, the nurturing of life. So is the Christian life in God.

  • Gabi M. on Isaiah 41:10 - 12 years ago
I have read this verse before , and yes it is true what God says here , and it does apply to every person on this earth , and He encourages us throughout the bible to trust in Him in every situation. If Jesus had a victorious life on this earth , it was because of the close relationship He had with His father , and He came to show us the father and what He is like. We can , and need to have the same relationship with our heavenly father who loved and loves us so much , that He gave His son Jesus to die in our place so that we have a chance for eternal life . I like the song " Trust and obey , for there's no other way ". Obedience to God's laws has always been the test . This is true for every person on this earth past or present. God says : obey and live... Obey , and I will bless you .
I have had things happen in my life too , and if i had not trusted in God and his promises ? Hmmmmm ! Never know what would have happend . I would like to encourage everyone to study God's word . Study it daily and find comfort , healing , power , discernment , love , understanding , on how to live a victorious life in Him, Jesus Christ. Be a blessing to others . Don't live for self. Live to love, and love to live , for God.

Not easy. But for life's sake , DO IT. We have departed enormously from the original diet prescribed in genesis , and because of it , we suffer. Let's go back to creation week and find out .

  • Marsha on Revelation 2:10 - 12 years ago
The passage could have had a literal interpretation, but it definitely has a spiritual one. It can be a literal death, or the 'death to self' people speak about, or both. The time period is indefinite. It is the spirit in prison and not the bars of a cell. I write from the midst of the over 20 year experience. It is systematic and relentless persecution that closely parallels the book of Job in affliction ways. Everything that did 'work' (gifts of the Spirit) cease to work. The relationship with God becomes like a long distance phone call. Approaching the close of the experience you don't know if the body is going to cease, nor do you care if it does. There is nothing to 'live' for in it, and eventually no desire to bother either. You feel like a squeezed out tube of toothpaste. I'm greatly abbreviating the matter and omitting the many afflictions and persecutions that brings the person to that point. It is the most cruel thing imaginable. God described it as having NO freedoms at all; and like being dead but not buried. People who have not experienced haven't a clue about what it actually means, and have not correctly explained the matter.
  • George on Job 42:12 - 12 years ago
    Yes, indeed, God delights in blessing his own children when they walk in obedience to him as he did Job. Although we may not have as much as Job had financially or family wise yet he has promised to bless us and take care of us in this life. And my God shall supply all of your need according to his riches in glory , by Christ Jesus. And I am sure that Jobs heart was joyful after all he had been through to have all of these blessings from the Lord his God and was joyful in him. Sincerely ;
  • Pauline on 1 Kings 19 - 12 years ago
I see a lot of myself in Elijah. Just in the previous chapter, God had manifested himself in providing fire for the sacrifice and defeating Baal. When he is then threatened by Jezebel, who swears by the same powerless Baal, he runs for his life and asks God to kill him. Two important lessons: Miracles don't necessarily save us. Satan uses the opportunity of miracles to try and cast greater doubt in out souls. But praise God for His grace, He never leaves us. In His mercy He doesn't slay Elijah as per His request but ensures he is well fed and sends him back to the ground. When in distress, count your blessings, think of how God has led you in the past, for only then will your eyes be opened to see how much God still surrounds you and His angels minister to you.
