I can prove that Jesus is the God of the Old Testament by what we read in Isaiah 60, verse 16. It reads, 'Powerful kings and mighty nations provide you with the choicest of their goods to satisfy your every need, and you will know at last and really understand that I, the Lord, am your Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. ' Now I ask you, do we have two Saviors, one for the Old Testament and one for the New Testament. No, there is only one Savior. God and Jesus are the same. What we are talking about is personality, or self identity. Your personality is the way you present yourself to people. God presents himself to us as Jesus. The Father, then, is God 's other personality, the way God directs his affairs. And there is, yet, another personality, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the way God inspires us to believe in what he is doing as Jesus. But in all cases, Jesus is the way God speaks to us and saves us. So let 's pray to Jesus and be saved! God bless you!

Is a 60 was revisited in Matt.4. From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, repent for the kingdom of God is at hand. it was after he fasted 40days and nights, after he was tempted, after the angels came and ministered to him, after he heard John was thrown into prison, then he departed to the coast between Babylon and napthalim,to fulfil Isaiah 's prophesy..verse 16,17 "the people which sat in darkness saw great light and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up " Prayer thank you LORD for the Light of Christ that shines upon us and possess us,let it stir us into action as Isa.60 1 says "Arise shine for thy light is come, and the glory of LORD is risen upon thee ".
  • Felicia on Isaiah 60 - 10 years ago
The hope of all believers is that we shine everyday so that others may want what we have.It is confirmed here in this chapter that the Lord our righteousness.will make this possible and abundance and peacr will be continuous in our life.Amen

Arise or come out from slumber, people slumber at night and we are children of day, shine, let HIS light shine through you, you are an ambassador. HIS glory has come, meaning when HE came in your life HE came with everything HE is. including HIS attributes. HE is king halleluya.

Awake out of your sorrows and heaviness and walk in his peace, prosperity, and joy. For the lord has awaken you from despair and has visited you again. He has shone his countenance upon you. That 's what this scripture means to me.

  • Derek De Jong on Isaiah 60 - 11 years ago
This chapter speaks of the promise of God to dwell with his people and to bless them in and through Jesus Christ the Messanger of the Lord. This promise is made to the Isrealites in Isaiah 's day and was fulfilled in part when the Israelites returned from captivity. But the promises of this chapter also have an ongoing fulfilment in "coming of the Messiah " and the recipients of these promises are now the Church of Christ both Jew and gentile and will ultimately be fulfilled when all the saints are gathered together to be with the LORD our God in the new heaven and the new earth. What a great encouragement to serve our God and Saviour in holiness and Godly fear!!

The exposition of Isaiah 60 is a revelation of the latter glory that is incomparable with any form of affliction that we have passed through. God is affirmative that our weeping will only endure for a night, and promised us a glorious dawn. It further goes to state that the years that the cankerworm had eaten will be restored. The reference to this glory is described through the accolades that would be meted to us by strangers and their kings. The desolation of our lives is likened to the broken wall of Jerusalam, however, would be built by those who have mocked us in time past. More importantly, we are admonished that God always prepare us for glory, distinction and blessings through tribulations and afflictions. No wonder Apostle Paul said, "what shall separate us from the love of Christ?, is it tribulations, poverty, sickness or persecution, but we are more than conqueror ". Finally, the chapter revealed God as the master porter for our lives in the face of all challenges, turmoil, tempests, billows or tornadoes, to us the expected end, I mean the good end in our heavenly home above, On the one hand, the chapter affirms that the physical satisfaction of all our hearts desires and delights would be met. and on the other hand, the description of the glory to be revealed is a retrospection about the street that is paved with gold, where their will be no more weeping nor sorrow A place of enormous and divine tranquillity, this is a far more glorious benefits from the saviour ad the redeemer. We have absolute assurance that God is ours. Has God not promised to be with us in whatever situation in Isaiah 45 verses 1 5? Remain blessed, Shalom!

I think the whole of Christendom is under this veil and they don t Know it They seem to think that the New Testament applies to them when in reality it was written by saints for saints That is only those who have been given the Holy Spirit and its gifts I have not met anyone who has genuinely received the Holy Spirit Eric
  • Rev. Autrey on Isaiah 60 - 11 years ago
(Verses 16-18) "You will know at last that I, the Lord, am your Savior and Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel. ... Salvation will surround you like city walls, and praise will be on the lips of all who enter there."

My dear brothers and sisters, we cannot have two Saviors, one for the Old Testament and one for the New Testament. This means that the God of the Old Testament is Jesus, and in there verses he is telling us of what he will do when he is born on earth. That is, how he will save us by dying in our place on the cross.

I know this is hard for most people to understand because we have always been told that the Father is the God of the Old Testament. But he is not true. God does not speak to us through that personality. If you notice, all the direct words from God are spoken by Jesus. Yes, Jesus mentioned the Father quite often, but we do not see or hear what he says. This is done so we will not have two voices of God speaking to us at the same time. This would cause too much confusion, and we would not know which one to obey. Also, we would not know which voice has the greater authority.

God speaks to us only through the personality of Jesus. Let's say it this way. When God speaks to us he always identifies himself as Jesus. This should help us understand the words of the Bible more clearly. It should help us to appreciate more passionately the personality by wich God saves.

As Paul often says, "I think God through Jesus Christ our Lord!

To comment on the end of Isaiah 60:7 "and I will glorify the house of my glory."

I have heard that God will honor those that honor Him and this is one proof text to support that He is of such character. Many have been burned, beheaded, and treated with severe dishonor in this life for Jesus's name sake; but, judging works by the intent of each believer's heart... in the end and eternally our Savior will recompense our works and reward where it is due. He is keeping record. It's nice to see some handfuls of purpose in this life as well, like this context and Job's last chapter. God is very good!!!

This verse means he is in charge, and he will lift you high among everyone. you were in darkness but he has selected you and pulled you out of the satan's mouth. and all our mourning is finished!
  • Oliver on Isaiah 60 - 11 years ago
Isaiah 60 is an assurance for you to walk into your destiny because of your obedience to GOD. Without obedience, you can't arise and shine. You are in the dark. So, darkness and light can't work or walk together.
