(My rant is on what I meant, I apologize at its length) That is very much not what I was saying, I mean that the last supper couldn't have been Passover, Passover is at the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread, which is a Sabbath. Even if Judas could have gotten things on the Sabbath, what could they have prepared for if not the Seder. You're right about what you said, it's just not what I was implying was wrong. If Jesus was the Passover lamb he had to be killed at the same time all of the other lambs were being slaughtered for Passover. He arrived 10 days before slaughter, as was the law. He was without blemish as was the law. He was even the equal sacrifice, he was the only person in history born of God except Adam; Paul said that Jesus paid Adam's sin (ours as well) but he was, therefore, an equal sacrifice to Adam. He fulfilled hundreds of prophecies, came out of Egypt (salvation from Egypt), baptized at 30 (as was the law for priests), became the high priest (after Melchizedek), fulfilled all of psalm 22 (no broke bone, pierced hands, out of joint, hanged on a tree, etc...), he restituted the gentiles to Israel, he hasn't wed the perfect virgin yet (that's revelations 21 where he does that), but he has fulfilled every prophecy except a few to come. What I am saying is, if he did all of this, if he fulfilled all of these prophecies, fulfilled the festival of Sukkoth, fulfilled Yom Kippur, Rosh Hashana, EVEN Hanukkah! Why would he not die on the day when the Passover was supposed to die? It drives me crazy, he is a perfect God, why would he set up a festival literally about passing over sin (Egypt being bondage, bondage in sin specifically) and have him die on the WRONG DAY! I'm not even going to get into why people think it would be Sunday that he rose. I do apologize for the rant, it is completely not directed at you, but toward an idea that I believe has no basis in the bible but has its basis in a painter from the 1300's misinterpretation of it.
  • Prophesy on Judas Iscariot - In Reply on Matthew 26 - 5 years ago
Jesus already knew what Judas Iscariot was going to do; but not his other disciples.

There was an Old Testament prophesy about the event. Judas fulfilled it.

Psalms 41:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.

If it was the Passover Seder, why did they think Judas was on his way to buy for the feast? Also, how can Jesus be the Passover Seder if he was killed the day after the Seder. Meaning this has to be the day before. Food for thought.

Mary, that guy you refer to in Mt 26:34 was Peter, a disciple of Jesus. It happened during the final moments before Jesus would be taken to Pilate & then judged worthy of death on a cross (for no crime that he committed). So Jesus was with all His disciples eating during the Passover & they then joined Him going to Gethsemane to pray. It was here that Jesus looked at Peter & told him that before the morning arrived (at the third crowing of the rooster), he would deny Christ, i.e. denying any knowledge or association with Jesus, because he would love his own life more than the Saviour. Then you can see the fulfilment of Jesus' words to Peter in the same chapter, verses 69-75. Then when Peter heard the cock crow the third time, he realized Jesus' words to him earlier that evening, & he became extremely remorseful for his denial of Jesus Whom he loved.

If you have questions on this or any passage, do write here, as it's important for you to know what the Bible says, as it contains God's Message to us. And the most important message is that we are all sinners, who probably would have denied Jesus just as Peter did, & that God's Love is extended to us through the giving of His Son to die for our sins & in our stead. Acceptance of this Truth & faith in Jesus means that God then receives us as His Own & will not condemn us for our past sins. May God help you Mary, as you read from His Word.

28 For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Notice: above, even though JESUS is about to enter into death, JESUS has not forgotten HIS mission because we see both HIS heart and mind remain steadfast on redeeming mankind from sins. The result of the BLOOD of JESUS established the PARDON me and you needed, thereby we sinners has access to SALVATION. John 3:16-21 is our reminder.

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended. Oh, Peter, Peter, I would have said the same as you. I'm thinking that I would have died with Jesus. But no, Jesus said I would run like a scared rabbit. Just like Peter but it was what Peter thought and what I would have thought also. When we come face to face with death, most of us would chose to live.

26-28....and as they were eating, JESUS took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, drink ye all of it, for this is MY BLOOD of the NEW TESTAMENT, which is shed for many for the remission of sins..... verse 26-28, notice JESUS MIND is on me and you because in these verses HE clearly assures us JESUS is putting /putted in place a WAY. Yes, a WAY thereby you and I can obtain remission /forgiveness of sins BY /THROUGH HIS BLOOD unto SALVATION. So thank GOD for SALVATION through JESUS. John 3:16-21.

He gave us free will. If not we would be as slaves forced to do his every word. He didn't want zombies following him.

what i like about this chapter is that Jesus knows all about me, he knows when i will fail him, he never fails. His lovingkindness is his response to all who are weak.

Verse 46~Jesus was able to successfully stand and face his troubles because he offered earnest prayer to Jehovah God. We need to do the same.

"Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you?" Even if called as One Of The Twelve, the Light continually exposing our nature must cause us to either repent and seek His mercy and healing, or harden us into a selfish traitor. Jesus received Judas as a friend, but Judas forsook that friendship.

"Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her." While sitting among the true disciples, and beholding how the righteous and wise really love the Lord; what liars and hypocrites the hater's of the Lord are, with their self righteous indignation! But God honors the poor in spirit!

Knowing what I know now about God's word, the KJV Bible - that it IS God-breathed, inviable, and not the ideas of man about what and who he thinks God is: I would NEVER say there was a 'mistake' in it, of spelling or what is said. I have for myself, proven the inerrancy of God's Word. It all, O.T. and N.T., works together as ONE story - just as God is one, not three.

Simon the leper v.6 - we all know at this point that Simon was healed; otherwise he couldn't be living with his family. Nor would the woman with the alabaster box have entered the house. He's called 'the leper to distinguish him from other Simons, i.e. Simon Peter, Simon Cyrene, etc.
