What does Jesus intend for me in Luke 21:36. How do I pray "always," practically?

Ann Hering, 1st of all, the idea that Christians will not go through the Tribulation, is a relatively modern notion. It is also closely tied to a Dispensationalist program that is also a modern invention. That program is not found in the Bible. On its surface, it does give you a picture of a somewhat historical development of Biblical events, but with many flaws. Out of it comes this idea that we are in the Dispensation or period of Grace that will come to an end. The fact is, the Grace and Mercy of God was always in effect and will never come to an end, Gal 3:21.

Salvation is based on Christ and Christ's death never comes to an end. That Christ died and we can be saved by calling on Him will always be true. And the Holy Spirit is never taken away. There is no Gospel for the Jews as distinct from a Gospel for the Gentiles. 2 These 2 is clear that both Rapture and 2nd Coming are concurrent events for those that follow Christ. There is no distinction between Jew and non-Jew. Paul tells us there is no other Gospel, Gal 2:21.

Many churches teach there will be a period of Tribulation just for the Jews. Therefore, Christians must be taken out of the earth. To get there they read things into Scripture that just aren't there. Christ never even alluded to that. Neither did any of the Apostles. We are saved by Grace. If the Law and Sacrifices could save, Christ would not have been necessary. Christ died once and for all. There is no Dispensational 7th Week of Daniel outlined in the Bible. He is just telling us what is going to happen to all of us. Lk 19:10.

There is a misunderstanding of the Book of Revelation, the Tribulation Period, Judgement and Wrath. A study of Revelation will show the Day of the Lord and Wrath are specific to the last hour of the Tribulation. Many confuse it with the entire 7 year period. Revelation gives you a panorama of history, then starts shrinking it down to the last moment, which is when God pours out His Wrath. Rom 1:17.

    Context, context, context!

You have to know what was going on during Paul's day. There were Jews during Paul's ministry that wanted to put people under The Law ( Acts 15:1), and Paul warned them not to believe in ANY OTHER Gospel 1 Cor 15:1-4.

John The Baptist preached this gospel to ISRAEL ...

    Matthew 3:1-2

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Acts 19:4

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Jesus Christ preached The Gospel of the Kingdom to ISRAEL.

    Matthew 4:17

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

    Matthew 4:23

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

The Tribulation Gospel will be preached in the future to ISRAEL after The Body of Christ is taken out of here.

You see, WHAT Israel had to believe during Jesus' ministry is NOT The Gospel Paul preached to Jews and Gentiles in this Age of Grace.

Paul's Gospel is THE GOSPEL 1 Cor 15:1-4 we need to believe to be saved today!

Thanks Mishael: I think you would have done quite well, as others, to answer this question.

Ongom, your question can receive many answers according to people's research, their understanding & preference for a particular version. As you are asking on this Site, the obvious answer will be that the King James Version is more preferable to all others. I only read from it, though I believe that if someone simply can't understand its English & if suitable helps are not available to them, then it's better to read from another translation (e.g. NASB, NKJV), than not read or understand the Bible at all.

So to the KJV. Even though it was translated from later Manuscripts (& not the older ones as some would give preference to), the translators found that these Manuscripts were much more reliable (for consistency, accuracy & from checking with other Manuscripts) than the others, such as the Sinaitic & Vatican Manuscripts, which contained significant errors.

As well, there were many scholars (about 47 of them), highly skilled in Hebrew & Greek who were involved in this work of translating & they constantly checked, re-checked & assessed their work before the Bible was published. In fact, they worked for several years (about six years, I think) to ensure total reliability.

Yet, I must also say, that by just reading the Bible (as many do for its olden history), will be of limited value unless God's Spirit Who inspired the writers of the Bible books, is also involved in helping the reader to understand it & learn from its many precious lessons. So, we pray that God's Spirit will help you to decide on the right version of the Bible & then to understand & apply the Truths of His Word to your life.

John, just going through your comment & a few questions arose in my mind:

    a. what is the Fire of God you speak of? You said that "it's not a literal fire", but I couldn't think of a Scripture that spoke of the type of fire you mentioned.

    b. Rom 14:11. I don't think the word 'forced' to confess & bow is what Christians understand when reading that verse (at least, I don't). I see that at the Coming of Christ & in His Reign on Earth, people will not be forced to do anything. Paul said that since we as believers will all stand before Christ's Judgement Seat & have to give account of ourselves, so will all those who are not believers also have to submit & confess to God about their lives & their rejection of His Christ. So, I see rather that we will all be in a state of judicial submission where our appointed time with the Judge has arrived: some to reigning with Christ & others to everlasting damnation.

    c. Which then leads to: "a literal fire to burn forever." Can I assume that you see this fire as an allegory? And what of the other Scriptures that speak of it? Your response, should you wish to give it, will help me understand your position better for discussion.

KWAW, have you tried sleeping 2-3 hours only over an extended period of time? If you have had to do it to maintain your regimen of studies & research, you will soon find that your waking hours are not going to be very good. You will get very sleepy, lose concentration, maybe get irritable, become unhealthy, etc. Adequate sleep is a must & should be seen as a far greater need than even achieving success. Sleep is important to help your body & mind recover, heal & stay in focus during your waking hours.

My suggestion is that you choose the time of day that suits you best to do your research & writing of papers (sometimes it is better in the early hours of the morning when the mind & body are fresh). If so, then go to bed earlier (7:30 or 8 pm) so that you can get adequate sleep before starting early the next day. And in a short time, your body will adjust to the new time schedule. But please don't neglect your rest time; and don't neglect your time in prayer & God's Word which are able to refresh your spirit & guide you through your day.
  • Mishael on Why Evil Things Happen on Matthew 7:5 - 6 years ago
When Lucifer was kicked out of Heaven (pre-garden of Eden), he was on the earth in the darkness. He was here when creation began.

When Adam and Eve sinned, Lucifers name became Satan. He obtained the deed to the earth.

Evil was here until 2nd Adam, Jesus came to earth, became the Son of Man, and fulfilled his work as Messiah; the Son of God.

When Jesus was crucified, He fulfilled over 100 prophesies. One was Genesis 3:15, And I will put enmity between thee (Satan) and the woman and between thy seed and her seed, "IT" shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

Jesus got the keys to hell to release the prisoners; and He took back the deed to the earth. Satan was stripped. But he's still here. At the 2nd Advent, there will be a war between Satan and Jesus. Satan will lose.

That's why we have an I WILL running around to and fro in the earth exercising evil against people. Gods children are hurt too, but we can pray for Divine intervention if our faith is strengthened and exercised.

Even in the Lords Prayer, we pray: deliver us from the evil. If you don't know what that prayer means, you are going to suffer hurts or worse. Get knowledge and fight!!

Satan is a loose evil will in our world. That's all he's got, but that's bad enough. That's why I tell people to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for the gift of Discerning Of Spirits. You'll be able to discern when evil is about or when angels are near.

Learn about spiritual warfare. Don't start seeing demons everywhere. Learn what their fruit is.

Look, I'm not going to tell about weird stuff that's happened to me. If you have weird stuff then you can ask me. My testimony is Heinz 57.

Be blessed because Jesus has overcome them!

I am fascinated by Genesis 1 and 2 and I have tried to interpret various verses always saying that we should look at them in context meaning along with the other verses in the chapter; however; now i think that along with that; it should be in context with other related verses in the Bible; and I always said that maybe the Bible and God does not tell us everything; but now I think that maybe it does; if I indeed could do that; and some people are good at it; I see their references and comments; and I always appreciate them; and I usually or generally check them; and indeed do like reading them; but I am generally not good at doing that and sometimes get a bit hazy or it sometimes confuses me; however; starting at 1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. I wonder what i would find if i were to read all the other verses in the Bible connected with what He put in the Heaven at that time; and some of those things of course are mentioned in Genesis 1 and 2 but I wonder what else because i know that there were angels in Heaven but I always assumed that when we died; that was what we became plus I have heard about the archangel etc. and now that too probably should be considered, I think, in interpreting these first 5 verses, for example, and i think that I would also need more information I think that is available in the Bible for interpretations on Adam and Eve and who sinned ...etc.
  • Chris - In Reply on Job 17:12 - 6 years ago
Amadeus, I don't believe that Job 17:12 actually says that, with due regard to your Father's understanding. When I study that verse, indeed the book of Job, I see a suffering man in every sense of the word. And to add insult to injury, his 'friends' often gave him atrocious advice & were of little comfort to him.

So this verse is a small part of Job's appointment to continual suffering. In verse 11, he dismayed about the days given to him, even his thoughts & ambitions for the future, were in pieces. So in verse 12, I believe he intimates that his 'friends' added to his troubling thoughts, that kept him up all night ("turned night into day"), even his daylight hours were like darkness because of the darkness in his mind ("light is short because of darkness."). Then as you read on, his hopelessness is exacerbated, as he thinks of his nearness to death.

If I should use a verse to describe what you've said, I could refer you to Proverbs 6:6-11. These verses speak about the Sluggard whose laziness takes him through the night into the next day, thereby assuring him of poverty. The Ant is cited as a creature that has more sense & work ethic than a lazy man. But if you're seeking a Scripture for people who need to stay up at night (e.g. medical staff, security, warehousing, etc.), then there is nothing in the Word, nor is there anything to suggest that reversing the order (i.e. sleep in the day & be awake at night) is wrong. Sometimes, this is necessary.

Deep sleep is when the body repairs the Immune system, and other body breakdowns.

Turn off your media when you're not watching it. It's actually a conduit for evil.

Believe it or not, Isaiah heard computers. Isaiah 8:18-22.

Note: familiar spirits (demons), follow families. They can hang around at an old house and "haunt" it, till a relative of the family shows up. Christians can make them leave by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth!

I turn my media off unless there is a particular program I want to watch. I don't watch 95% of it. I read proverbs to my grandson. He prays over all our meals. He's 7 and toothless LoL

Mild Bill, you're referring to a longer thread that I had commented in, to Carlos. That was his question: "Why does evil exist, if God is Love?" If you are able to get to read all the preceding comments between us, you will find that he proposed that God created evil in the world, created the first humans with a propensity to do evil, allowed corruption to be in the world, all for the purpose of the entrance of Jesus into the world to save mankind from sin & renewal of all things. So, if your comment to me is based on that proposition & my response to it which opposed all of that, viz, God didn't create evil, that Adam & Eve were created perfect but chose to disobey their Creator & thus brought judgement to themselves & us, & that though God knew that one day His Saviour would be sent for us, it wasn't His design to create all these things for that purpose, then please share what in my comment that you find objectionable.

Your comments now, don't seem to align with what was said in the referenced thread, therefore, I just wanted to bring the above to your attention.

I'm retired; worked 46 years. I sleep when I need to. Past months I've been child sitting for free. As soon as I can, I come here. You make time for need to's and time for love to's. I've had a theory for years that if you sit too much, your backside rebels and moves to the frontside. Also if you listen to Psalms music you won't need chemicals to relax.

The only reason to watch Dr Phil is to see how much family's lose by not following Jesus. Jesus will fill in all the cracks and holes and set you on your feet. If home is a war zone, get your own place. I'm famous for pinching pennies till they cry. You can do it. Give your time to God and He will bless you abundantly. I pray right now that Jesus would love you and make himself real and approachable to YOU! Amen

God chose them to become His peculiar people and be a witness to the world.

You have to admit there's something to it. This entire planet wants the Jews to evaporate so they can have Israel without Jews in it. Russia, Syria, Iran, want it bad!!

The Chinese have rebuilt the Silk Road (google that), so as to ship goods to the world and nose thumb the Americans. If Russia attempts to nuke Israel,

God will wipe them off the map. I saw part of a prophesy about that.

If you don't believe me then check out news on Jerusalem Post dot com. They show all the sneaking around news that the US national news media refuses to show. SHAME on American journalists. At least 700 Club reports news on Israel.

If you truly seek the Sabbath, try studying the scriptures. Search Sabbath and read all verses, both alone and in context.

Ask for the instruction and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When He responds, test his instructions. Not as a scoffed, but as a willing seeker. (Ex: children push the boundaries to learn, grow, and discover).

You claim to honor the Sabbath on Sunday, but the spirit warns you, but it is easier to follow tradition and rationalize, than to take up the cross (another good devotional scripture study).

Test it. Find a Sabbath keeping church and try it out for one month. That warning voice will cease, and your relationship with God will strengthen. Caution: your church, your family, your friends, will be the ones who begin to show there true colors.

Since the beginning (Eden), God has asked us to worship Him His way; we have chosen to worship Him our way.

The scriptures tell us very clearly. Jesus is the only way. Become disciples, don't drink babes milk forever. Grow, learn, test, prove all things, watch, prepare.

2 final devotional study suggestions (false prophets, horns). Seek and the Holy Spirit will teach. Ask, and it will be given. God's ways are not man's ways.

Prayers for you and may God grant you His blessings on your journey!

Instead of washing your mouth out with soap (yes, they did that)>>> you renew your mind With the washing of the Word of God.

Studying takes time, lots of time! First you need to be baptized into the Holy Spirit so you can understand what you're reading. He is your Teacher.

Jesus said to Follow Him, so you gotta get boots on and see which way he's goin.

A new song: if you're saved and you know it..... tell someone. :D

That's when you find out people have questions and you're not sure about the answers.

Look. Everybody else is out of the closet, so should be Christians. Then there's the fact that our country kicked Jesus out of schools in 1962.

In 1973, Roe vs Wade made it legal to abort college tuition payers who would become future taxpayers so your future as a retiree would be secure too. No one anticipated future fallout from that. I asked God what can we do, and He said he was going to take care of it! Did you know all the little almost babies are in heaven now, alive and well. Heaven is going to be fantastic. And there will be pizza too.

If you draw close to God so that your footsteps are almost on His, you will learn many things. He's the most interesting person I ever met. Study the relationship between Father and Son; Son and Holy Spirit. What do they say about each other? What do they do together? Look at this planet and the universe and note all the sheer numbers and varieties of each species, landscapes, vegetation's. Imprint your memories. Isaiah 51:6,

2nd Peter 3:10-12. New Jerusalem will be even more beautifully adorned.

What an exciting time for you. We are the generation that will NOT pass away till all these things happen.

You may be the workers of the Lord of the Harvest. Praise God.

Now go look up all these scriptures :)

Who's sleeping? We have to wash clothes & fold them too. Read some of the history at the bottom of this page. Hit it hard all weekend...

Actually the first covenant was with Noah

Genesis 6:18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.

Genesis Chapter 9:11 And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.

12 And God said, This [is] the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that [is] with you, for perpetual generations:

13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

Trannys know what the Bible says: Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:

25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

    28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Ann, Galatians Chapter 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Seems to me there is only ONE GOSPEL and Paul writes that any that teaches contrary to this is cursed.

My father quotes Job 17:12 quite often, citing that it refers to people who stay up at night and sleep during the day, thereby reversing the normal order of things (sleep during the night, awake during the day), insinuating that somehow tampering with this order is "wrong".

How can we accurately understand the true meaning of this verse in its proper context?

God promised Abraham he would be the Father of MANY NATIONS.

Gen 17:5 Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of MANY many nations have I made thee.

If the "Jews" are all of Abraham, where are all these MANY "jewish nations"...?

There is only one and it was created by the antichrist United Nations and one is not many.

Either God lied (impossible) or the Jews can be not all of Israel.

Where are the MANY JEWISH NATIONS of Abraham?

Judah and Israel were not the same people. God divorced Israel and not Judah. One tribe is not many

Jeremiah 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of DIVORCE; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

    The Lord DIVORCED ISRAEL

Israel and judah had wars and different kings as well as different capitols. Jerusalem capitol of Judah.

    Samaria capitol of Israel.

2 Kings 8:16 ...Joram the son of Ahab KING of ISRAEL, Jehoshaphat being then KING of JUDAH, ...

1 Kings 21:1 ....had a vineyard, which was in Jezreel, hard by the PALACE of Ahab KING of SAMARIA.

Jeremiah 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

this verse says a new covenant with both Israel AND Judah. So how can they be the same?

Hosea 1:10 Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.

Romans 9:26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

Galatians 3:29. - And if ye be Christ's, then ARE ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

The first covenant was made between God and Abraham with the circumcision as a symbol. Out of Abraham God promised a great nation, and God would be their protector. Hence the whole story of the Jews.

Although they, time and again, disobey God, but God still have a covenant with then and will deal with them in the final 7 years during the tribulation. (for those who still did not accept His son, Jesus Christ)

17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Note: verse 17 is another WARNING form GOD to a specific group. In 17 Jehovah /GOD assures this group that the dragon has declared war against them /those which keep the Commandments of God and have the Testimony of Jesus Christ, therefore one must ensure he or she has applied the WORD of GOD as prescribed, example see John 3:16-21. Being in this specific group give one access to the WHOLE ARMOUR of GOD each day of our earthly life thereby we can stand by the STRENGTH of GOD in our daily battles.

Paul is the only ONE in The Word of God that says, "Behold, I shew you a MYSTERY."

The Tribulation is a prophesied event for ISRAEL.

The Rapture is a MYSTERY for The Body Of Christ!

Jesus Christ reveals to Paul a NEW program.

Paul has a NEW Gospel in this Age of GRACE 1 Cor 15:1-4, believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried and rose again, and we are SAVED all by grace through faith in that alone!

The Body of Christ has to be out of the way so that God can resume His prophetic program with Israel called The Tribulation.

Paul tells us The Body of Christ is saved from the wrath to come.

    Romans 5:9

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

The Tribulation Gospel is NOT going to be good!

    Revelation 14:7

Saying with a loud voice, FEAR God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his JUDGMENT is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

NO MORE GRACE in The Tribulation!

The Body of Christ SAVED today by The Gospel Of GRACE will be Raptured and then God deals with ISRAEL with The Tribulation with the everlasting Gospel.

The Rapture for The Body Of Christ and The Tribulation for ISRAEL; TWO Completely Different Programs for TWO Completely Different groups, with TWO Completely Different GOSPELS!
