There is no place in the bible that tells us that we don't have to be baptized, conversely, there is much scripture that tells us that we do need to be baptized.

In addition to believing in Jesus to be saved, we are told by Jesus to be baptized.

John 3:5

"Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Except we be born of water and the Spirit (Holy Spirit) we can not enter into the kingdom of God! This is a very powerful and easy to understand message.

Apostle Peter also confirms baptism below, so we must repent, be baptized, and we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:38

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

In summary, the bible scripture clearly states what we must do regarding regarding baptism. If anyone says different, they are lying, and telling you to ignore this and other powerful scripture!

Anthony P.S. The Apostle Paul by revelation being shown spiritually had to explain in great length how

to do things of God correctly because the Corinthian believers were way out of order and combining pagan

actions and thought to the things of God. It is the first thing done on the day of Pentecost and in Acts 2:11

Gods Word says they were speaking the wonderful works of God and they were not jumping up and dow

shouting or hitting the floor they decent and in order. Prayerfully this helps.

I believe Judas will go to hell, because he betrayed Jesus to help murder him for profit. This is like blasphemy and turning his back on Jesus. Peter denied Jesus, which might also be a form of blasphemy, however, I believe Jesus forgave him through a special circumstance- asking if he loved Him three times.

People are deceived if they believe everyone goes to heaven regardless of how much sick and vile evil they commit against God, like Hitler mass murdering people. Jesus already said most people will go to hell. Just read the gospels and his many parables. They are all similar themes- warning after warning.

Jesus died for everyone, but forgiveness is contingent upon someone humbling themselves, repenting, confessing, believing, declaring Jesus is Lord and accepting the gift. Acts 2:38 - this requires an action. It doesn't say 'Do nothing and ye shall receive the gift' or 'Keep sinning as much as you want...' Here's another action requirement: repentance: Luke 5:32. Here's another confessing: 1 John 1:9.

Romans 10:9 - notice the "If..." People don't say "if" unless it's conditional. Salvation is conditional.

This says to believe: 1 John 5:13. It doesn't say 'not believing is totally fine.' Romans 12:2 - this says to be transformed and to not conform to the world. That's a big bummer for those hoping for a free get out of hell free card to enjoy a lifetime of sin and guilty pleasures. Look at this: John 8:11 and even this: James 2:26. Another: James 4:6. Reading the Bible for what it is paints a very different picture than the little summaries people like to spread around. People who ignore all the Bible's teachings and do whatever they want should be afraid for their soul: Luke 12:5. God bless.

The Greek word for "foe" is "echtros" which means hating, opposing, enemy, or adversary.

It is true that David had many military battles and attributed his victories to God (see Psalm 18), but the enemies referred to in Psalm 110:1, quoted here in Acts 2:35, are Jesus' enemies (FOES) including the Antichrist, Satan, sin, and the ultimate enemy, which is death ( 1 Corinthians 15:26). "Footstool" is from the Greek root word hypopodion. This is like calling something an "underfoot" in English. In common practice, it means a stool or resting place for one's feet. As a metaphor, it refers to the tradition of military leaders to place their feet on the necks of those they had conquered. Jesus' enemies will be completely vulnerable and in complete subjection to Him. We don't know when, but we do know at least one thing: God will do it, not us ( John 18:36).

Thank you for the insult "You are obviously not aware of the Scriptures." Do you mean scriptures like Matthew 5:11 and 1 Peter 4:14?

Let's address your claim: "The Bible is to the Israelites only."

Is that true? Since there is a lack of evidence for this how can we be certain if your statement is true or not?

Maybe you believe that because Jesus focused his ministry on Israel as said in Matt 15:24. But that doesn't automatically mean his teachings weren't for others, does it?

1 John 2:2 - this says Jesus died for the sins of the 'whole world', not just Israelites. Doesn't that contradict what you said?

John 10:16 - Jesus was ministering to one fold (flock) and said He had others. Could this mean He was talking about people in other countries besides Israel?

Romans 3:29 - this clearly says God is the God of not just Jews but Gentiles too. Doesn't that contradict what you said?

Isaiah 42:6 - same thing. This means He will be a light to other nations. This means the ministry DID include other people besides Israelites.

Acts 2:21 - Everyone who calls upon the Lord shall be saved. If what you said was true it would say [Only Israelites] who call upon... But it clearly says "everyone."

Have you read the above scriptures and what do they mean to you?

Do you believe all moral law is Israel-only like murder, adultery, theft, idols? So, do you think God is ok with non-Israel people committing those sins?

Christians have a decision to make: whether to trust and follow God's morals or the world's morals? Christianity (folllowing Jesus) isn't a one time event, but a lifelong pursuit. 1 Corinthians 9:24. It says to run the race (effort); it doesn't say the race is already finished. Some get off course and don't care.

Some Christians follow God's morals only to the point where it conflicts with the world's morals, then proceed with the world's morals instead. The result is following the world ( 1 John 2:15).

Despite Acts 2:38 saying to be baptized, some say "don't" be baptized.

Despite John 14:6 saying to go to Jesus, some say to go through a 'prophet' or pope.

Despite James 4:17 saying to avoid sin, some claim it's bad and 'legalism' to avoid sin.

Despite Psalm 139:13 saying unborn babies are special, some claim killing them is ok.

Despite Ezra 7:13 saying people have freewill, some claim they "don't" have freewill.

Despite Matthew 7:13 saying most people will go to hell, some say most will "not" go to hell.

Despite Matthew 10:28 warning us about hell, some say "there is no hell."

Despite 1 Timothy 2:12 saying women shouldn't teach, some say they "should."

Despite Leviticus 20:13 saying homosexuality is a sin, some say it's "not" a sin.

Despite John 15:10 saying to obey, some say it's ok to "not" obey.

Despite John 1:1 saying Jesus (the Word) is God, some say Jesus is "not" God.

Despite 1 John 5:7 saying 3 are one, some say the 3 are "not" one.

The rationalizing pattern seems to be: "No, the Bible doesn't say [what it actually says], but says [something I'm more comfortable with]". This format seems awfully similar to Genesis 3:4 where satan says "Ye shall NOT surely die." Satan is called the father of lies for a reason and some Christians assume they are immune to it.

Rationalizing the world's morals over God's morals seems to require ignoring scripture. Does anyone agree?

So, should we follow God's Word or man's word (which might be satan's word)?

I feel pressured to get baptized in Jesus name which is fine because I love Jesus but I have already been baptized in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. I was reading the book of Matthew, and in chapter 28 verse 19 Jesus himself says that we are to be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So who do we listen to Peter? Acts 2:38, or Jesus, Matthew 28:19?

You mentioned John 3:5. Romans 6:1-6. Galatians 3:26-27. and Acts 2:38. The only verse of the 4 mentioned that has anything to do with water baptism is Acts 2:38. and you apply it wrong when you use it as proof of an requirement for salvation. Peter is talking to Jews who had the word of God who had a God given religion, who knew the prophesies concerning a messiah. But they trusted in the Law that couldn't regenerate a soul.

"The law was their schoolmaster" Galatians 3:24. They are to turn around and come Gods way. John the Baptist was the forerunner for this message preaching the baptism of repentance "TO THE JEWS".

The old covenant they offered up sacrifices that couldn't save but pointed to the Lamb of God.

Here they're asked to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Water Baptism would be the evidence that "THEY" had repented, That they had come to Christ and put their trust in Him! Rather than bring a sacrifice to be offered.

As the sacrifices was a "foreshadowing' of Christ, Water baptism "Demonstrates" the Death and resurrection, In that demonstration THERE'S NO QUIKENING INVOLVED HERE! Only when we believed, Christ died We died!

That brings us to these other verses you mentioned. Galatians 3:26-28. and Romans 6:1-6. Have you noticed the phrase "BAPTIZED INTO" in Romans and Galatians? This speaks of the work of the Holyspirit to those who "TRULY" believed! they have been put into the body of believers.

After this occurs We should be barring fruit and have great concern there, Because that is something you cant produce on your own! This happens only "IF" you have been truly put in Christ. IDENTIFIED with his Death and resurrection. "The Baptism of the Holyspirit". you inherit the promise of Abraham. Galatians 3:18-29.

That is the context of the verses you have given.

These verses describes the work of the cross and true profession.

I appreciate your response. Regarding John 3:5 You state: "Born of water - this has nothing to do with baptism by water."

It reads clear to me that Jesus is saying in John 3:5 we must be reborn/baptized with water and receive the Holy Spirit. The water and Spirit go together - can't separate these two! Jesus stated these two (Water/Spirit) together for a reason.

I believe baptism in water is NOT an optional part of salvation, but is the act that initiates our salvation Romans 6:1-6

Galatians 3:26-27 and leads to the forgiveness of sins.

Lastly, I believe that we are saved today, the same way people have been saved since the day of Pentecost Acts 2:38

No quarrel here, just quoting scripture, and my current understanding and belief regarding baptism. Currently, you have not quoted any scripture that would change my mind about this requirement.

Bro Dan Something to think about when we get born again we repent is the word metanoia[which means to have a change of mind or different mind set then remission of sins is aphesis[ the sending away like its gone and forgotten].

In Acts 2:38 the word says repent get a different mind set then get born again and receive remission of sins

forgiven and forgotten by believing Romans 10:9+10. Now the work in this is to continue in the good works of walking in faith not that were saved by works two totally different things. Now when we sin not on purpose that is where we confess

the sin we currently have done 1 John 6-10 and were back in harmony the state of being in fellowship but at no time were we not his son. Notice where we can be tricked if we lie and say we don't sin dishonest in our walk.

This is where the enemy tricks many christians out of there spiritual walk and inheritance.

There is a major different biblically between repent remission and forgiveness first one our job second one Gods job third one out job and Gods already done Job in Christ jesus.

I believe there's only 1 simple option: to be baptized. This shall be done according to the example in the Bible which were people old enough to know right from wrong and to believe, and they were immersed in water. I suppose someone could try to complicate this, but I don't believe following the example in the Bible is complicated.

I noticed you received responses, but none of them actually answered your question.

The Bible doesn't seem to mention requirements or qualifications of the person doing the baptizing. We can look to examples in the Bible as to WHO was baptizing, and we have John the Baptist and Jesus's disciples. Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 28:19 calling the to baptize and make disciples.

I believe the one baptizing should be a Christian at bare minimum, because baptism is an act of Christian faith. And someone baptizing is in a leadership role in my opinion. It would seem hypocritical if the person leading you through a step of faith didn't even believe in it himself. And I believe that person should be at the age of accountability, so the belief is genuine, and not coerced through family or other forces. So, I don't believe a child should baptize anyone for example.

Finally, there's always someone trying to discredit baptism as if they have a force telling them its bad or as if they're afraid of it, or have some kind of personal animosity against it, or fear of public embarrassment? I think this reaction to a direct instruction from Jesus is a noteworthy reaction in itself.

There's no question I'm doing it. To me, I don't understand anyone trying to rationalize to 'get out of' something, as if they only want to do the bare minimum in following Jesus. I want to give Jesus everything and I don't want to give the devil any foothold. John 14:15 is another 100% clear verse. So, when you put those two verses together the right decision is very obvious.

I guess I do not see things the way you two do. Jesus promised the disciples that the Holy Spirit will teach them all things. The same Holy Spirit taught Paul as well. The Spirit delivered the same gospel to Paul as he did to the apostles. The spirit taught only one gospel, and it was for the Jews and the Gentiles. Peter preached the gospels to the Gentiles before Paul did (Acts10:34-43) On Pentacost, Peter preached to those gathered the same gospel as Paul ( Acts 2:22-37) Stephen preached the gospel at Antioch and founded this church before Paul was converted ( Acts 15:6-18) And when Paul went to Jerusalem after many years and shared what he was preaching, both he and the Apostles of the jerusalem church agreed that he was preaching the same gospel. I do not believe that Jesus' kingdom was for the Jews of that time, as Diane stated, nor do I believe that Paul had the Gentile gospel to the exclusion of the Jewish gospel. In every town he visited hep preached the same gospel to those in the synagogue as to those in Gentile situations. There is only one gospel and only one kingdom of God, not different ones in different dispensations. Diane, by the way you hold up Paul it sounds like you even hold him to be superior to Jesus and Jesus' ministry. I reject such a notion. I suggest that both of you go back and read through Acts so you can see that there has always been one gospel for both Jew and Gentile. As far as the 12 apostles knowing less than Paul about the Jesus and the gospel negates Jesus' very words that the Holy Spirit will teach the apostles(before Paul was converted) all things ( John 14. 25-26). A say these things to you in love. I care about you hearing sound doctrine and I will always defend the doctrines of the faith handed down through the generations to believers in the writings of the apostles, gospel writers, and Paul. I am not sure if your ideas about dispensations is the same as mine, also. God bless you!
