This chapter tell us what to do in mission work
  • Irene123 on Psalms 47 - 9 years ago
    V. 2 - For the Lord most high is terrible - means He is GLORIOUS, MAJESTIC, ALL-POWERFUL, MERCIFUL, GRACIOUS, MIGHTY GOD, .................; but - He's not macho nor top dog or any non biblical terms; the Bible does more than enough justice to Him. Let's not try to bring Him down to our level; let's let HIM raise us to His level - Acts 2:37-38
  • Irene123 on Psalms 47 - 9 years ago
    V. 1 - " ..... shout unto God with the voice of triumph." Amen to that; Acts 2:38
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
    This is a quote I found online somewhere, didn't note where it was (sloppy);
"God loves you just the way you are, but He refuses to leave you that way. He wants you to be just like Jesus." Acts 2:37-38
  • Irene123 on 1 John 1 - 9 years ago
To Bruce - Thank-you for taking the time to answer my query about "..... you will know; impossible not to know." I've known for2 1/2 yrs.; I'm just sorry you couldn't help me more (had I not already been saved) by giving me salvation scripture - such as Matt.28:19 and Acts 2:37-38.
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
Pro.5:1 cont. - where one receives His Holy Spirit (of truth) that leads us into all truth of His Word, the Holy Bible. Acts 2:38 is where Jesus' church began; and it began with this very first message by Peter of the plan laid out by JESUS for our salvation. God (Jesus) was giving Peter the word for word message of Acts2:38 right on the spot. God can do that; He can do - ANYTHING. God is ABLE!!!
  • Irene123 on Genesis 1 - 9 years ago
The incredible potential of nothing - God doesn't see 'nothing' as we see it. For God, nothing is the raw material for everything He created. Why is that important to us? If you feel you are nothing (not prideful, etc.), feel you have nothing to offer God - then you are exactly what God needs to perform a miracle. 'Miracle' equaling - salvation, Acts 2:38.
  • Iene123 on 2 Corinthians 9 - 9 years ago
"..... His unspeakable gift." the Holy Ghost, Acts 2:38. Jn. 15:5 - " ..... he that abideth in me and I IN HIM ..... without me ye can do nothing."
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
Michelleann cont. - One needs the Holy Spirit indwelling in them ( Acts 2:38) for the power (strength) to acquire the peace of God that passeth ALL understanding. One prays everyday after being saved for a fresh infilling of God's spiritual gifts; we don't just pray one time for them. To have the power of His spirit in you, you HAVE to follow Acts 2:38. V, 37 - "what must we do?"
  • Irene123 on Psalms 5 - 9 years ago
    V. 11 - the last phrase - is preceded by a colon (:). This always indicates the following is - important - "..... let them also that love thy NAME be joyful in thee. In the O.T. the name was Jehovah (YAH). Jehovah is from the Hebrew; in the N.T. Greek it translates into - Jesus. And we LOVE His name when we are baptized in it - Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Isaiah 15 - 9 years ago
Matthew Henry. He was an Englishman, a minister of a LARGE church, very honored and loved - and God used him to write his commentary. He was brilliant and loved God and people. But he only finished his commentary himself to the end of Acts; someone else did the rest - because God took him within a couple of yrs. after Acts. M.H. was a Trinitarian, and Acts 2:38 is oneness (Jesus name).
  • Irene123 on Psalms 23 - 9 years ago
To Lori - Amen, Lori; I feel the same way, and at 74 I have several aches 'n pains, but nothing incapacitating. I just keep my mind on 2 Cor.24-27. Paul is so encouraging, and our 'life' isn't here anyway; we're paying the ticket for our NEW life. There are some things you don't mind paying for - if your one of His - Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on James 3 - 9 years ago
The tongue can no MAN tame - but the Lord Jesus can -IF one follows Acts 2:38 and allows the Holy Ghost (spirit of Jesus) to live in us. THAT'S where true Christians get their power. And not hanging around old sinner friends, but PRAYING for them and letting them feel His love in you in witnessing to them.
  • Irene123 on Romans 4 - 9 years ago
AMEN, Landon!!! Go get 'em, Christian, and take Acts 2:38 with you .............
  • Irene123 on Jonah 1 - 9 years ago
When witnessing to souls we need the gift of discerning of spirits, 1 Cor.12:10. To acquire these gifts we must be saved in Jesus' way, Acts 2:38, not our way as just simply saying the words of Rom. 10:13 (14-16). "... calling on the NAME of the Lord ..."; the man of God who baptizes you uses the words of Acts 2:38, Just as Jesus said in Matt. 28:19 "... in the NAME of ..."
  • Mari on Matthew 28 - 9 years ago
I was baptized in Jesus name. Acts 2:38. Also Matthew 28:19 it says in the name of the father....(his name is Jesus)
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Dan. FC on 9-30-'16 - quote: "if you have a problem with what Jesus says, then you have a big problem." unquote. Matt.28:19 - "..... baptizing them in the NAME of ..... "; Acts 2:37 - Now when they heard this they were pricked in their heart ..... and said, men and brethren what shall we do?" v.38 - Then said unto them, Repent and baptized in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins ..
  • Irene123 on Romans 13 - 9 years ago
To Hyzette - Rom. 10:9, v. 14. If all one need do is v. 9 - then what is Gen. to Rev. all about .......? Acts 2:37-38 -- "Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their hearts, and said, Men and brethren what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent and be baptized, everyone of you, in the NAME of Jesus Christ for the remission and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
    J. Claudio - You need to go to Jesus in prayer for HIS guidance in your ministry, not to people. People will give you THEIR ideas. Jesus told His disciples, Apostles to pray for His words to speak AFTER they r'cvd the power of the Holy Ghost on the Day of Pentecost. You don't have His spirit or you would know this. I am NOT judging you; please believe that. I pray for God's wisdom for you.
  • Irene123 on John 16 - 9 years ago
    V. 20 - ye shall be sorrowful, but the world shall rejoice (crucifixion); your sorrow shall be turned into joy (Day of Pentecost when Holy Ghost was poured out - Acts 2:38).
  • Irene123 - 9 years ago
To E. Cody - V. 2 - so the Lord is round about His people from henceforth even forever. "from henceforth refers to the then Israelites; even forever refers to - us, the Gentiles. In this N.T. age, to be one of His people you have to follow Acts 2:38. Be baptized in the NAME; just as Matt. 28:19 says. Father, son, and holy ghost are - his titles, not His name.
  • Irene123 on Psalms 125 - 9 years ago
To E. Cody ( Ps. 125) - Not knowing your problem, nor do I want to know; God knows and that's all that's needed. He hears your prayers Cody, but He answers UNSELFISH prayers. If you are not saved you need to pray for enlightenment on that: what does He require for our salvation - and it's clearly stated in His word - Acts 2:37-38. Jn. 9: 31 - if any man ... WORSHIPS God ... God bless you
  • Irene123 on Matthew 7 - 9 years ago
You are quite the 'naysayer'. Being a Christian we are to lift each other up. Jesus' church of Acts ch. 2 - is still here. You just told people there is no hope by saying there are no churches that preach truth anymore. I've got a feeling you've been in 'contact' with His church ....... ? The one that preaches Acts 2:38 for salvation.
  • C.Lee on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
As we use faith we should see Christ and the church that he gave his life for in a new light. God's Word ignites our hearts for worship and for reaching out to our world with the Gospel. The same Holy Spirit dwells in us and gives us power to be a light and impact in this dark world.
  • Irene123 on Revelation 22 - 9 years ago
Matt. 28:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 4:12; Rev. 22:4 - "..... and His NAME shall be in their foreheads." All 4 of these scriptures proclaim this ONE name of Jesus; not 3 titles (aspects) of God. Jesus Himself told His Apostles/disciples to baptize in the NAME; and in Acts 2:38 that is exactly what Peter AND the other 11 did: they proclaimed the name of Jesus for remission of sins in water baptism.
  • Irene123 on Acts 4 - 9 years ago
    V. 4 - ".....the number which heard and believed was about 5,000." Acts 2:39 or 40 - ".....about 3,000 were added to the church." These nos. sound fantastic and of course these nos. don't happen today. BUT - they do!! The church is all around the WORLD now, and these same nos. are going on today, albeit over a wider area.
  • Irene123 on Acts 2 - 9 years ago
Does anyone on here know that it was at least15 years after Jesus established His church in Acts ch. 2 that the epistles even BEGAN to be written, the 'epistles' being all the books after Acts. So where did all the scriptures come from that the apostles and disciples use to witness to people during those 15 yrs? Answer - from their knowledge of the O.T. and Jesus' 3 yr. ministry with them.
  • Irene123 on 2 Timothy 1 - 9 years ago
To Jerry - How were you baptized? in the'words' of Matt.28:19 or in the NAME of Jesus of Acts 2:38? There is a difference. note - JESUS very words of Matt. 28:19, "baptizing them in the NAME of....." father, son, and holy ghost are His- titles; His name is JESUS. Acts 4:12 - "for here is NONE other name under heaven whereby we MUST be saved."
  • Irene123 on 1 Timothy 3 - 9 years ago
To BJ - Matt. 28:19 to Acts 2:38. Baptist churches are trinitarian; Matt. 28:19 is a oneness scripture: "..... baptizing them in the NAME of....."; this is what Peter did in Acts 2:38. Ex. 6:4 and many oneness verses from Isa. ch. 43 - 45,46. They are scattered thru theses chapters; you need to, with fervent prayer, seeking for his truth, read them.
  • Lavonne on Job 1 - 9 years ago
Mark Scripture does not give the location as to where Satan was. I do not believe the saved
are already in Heaven. Eccl 9:5 The dead know nothing. Acts 2:34 David is not ascended into the Heavens, and David was the man after God's own heart. Acts 13:22. No man has ascended to Heaven Jn 3:13. I do believe we are sons of God as you have stated. Job 1, I do
know about these sons of God.
