Another great write-up, GiGi. This 'serpent seed' teaching has been around for awhile, being propagated by the likes of Branham, Murray, Sun Myung Moon, etc. It wasn't taken from the Scriptures, as Genesis 4:1 clearly records the Truth, but evil men, appealing to extra-biblical sources (e.g. writings of Valentinus - 2nd Century AD & the Gospel of Philip - 4th Century AD), then re-translated the Genesis account to support their belief. And of course, British Israelism, Christian Identity Theology, KKK, & other white supremicist organizations, use it as a foundational platform to support their position of separation & hatred. So, it's good to read your comments, as others also, who clearly stay with the Word of God & not lean to fanciful theories & teachings.

In so many comments, it seems that some get far off of topic and away from the text being studied. I understand the desire to share what one feels should be put forth in these comments. I must say that I appreciate the comments that address the text being studied the most. I try to keep in mind whom my audience might be when I write, wishing to build up, encourage, and edify. I realize I have been walking with the Lord all of my life (65 yrs) and have been studying the Bible since I could read it for myself at age 9. The Spirit has been so good to me over the years in my private studies, but I also have been helped by learning from what others tell me or write about Scriptures and doctrines. I try to imagine that there may be a new believer/reader of/scripture reading these comments. I especially hope that my writings can help these brethren. Just a thought.

To close out chapter 4, it was in the first city/cities that tradesmen began to work with metals, build structures, develop artistic talents such as music, and to farm with livestock (did the continue to be vegetarians if they had livestock?).

It seems that when mankind began to gather in large groups, advancements in civilization happened quickly. Here in Enoch, the tenth generation of mankind was already smeltering and forging metals. What other advancements might they have learned to do by this time? By the time of the flood, advanced structures were probably built around the world, perhaps pyramid or ziggarut type of structures that would take a large number of people to participate in the building and a long period of time to complete. Some say that the pre-flood civilization was even more advance than where we are today, considering what has been accomplished in the past 1500 years. I don't know about that. That would mean space travel and I don't see any evidence in Scripture that talks about that. Even so, think about the pre-flood knowledge used to build cities right after the flood. Lot's of skills.

In this chapter, we are told that first Cain was born and then Abel. It does not say that Eve conceived again and had Abel, so perhaps they were twins. Since God said that he would increase the pains of labor for Eve, it is not known if she had given birth to daughters before these sons, or if daughters were born between Cain/Abel and Seth. We are told that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters besides these three children. We are not told how old Adam and Eve were when Cain and Abel were born. We are told that Adam and Eve were 130 when Seth was born. A lot of people can be born and grow to adulthood in 130 years. God was filling the earth through Adam and Eve before Seth was born. That made it possible for Cain to find a wife from among his sisters or nieces. Abel and Cain may have been married at the time Cain killed Abel. We do not know how old each one was at this time, but there were enough people for Cain to be concerned about what others may do to him as he moves away from his family. It is thought that this was the first murder and first human death. With enough people to build a city in Nod, we really do not know that no one had died before Cain. Personally, I think this was the first death in the world. How sorrowful for Adam and Eve. And how powerful a way to bring back to memory what God had said to them when He said that they would die if they ate the fruit of the forbidden tree. What a sad way to learn what death means. I think that sometimes we don't imagine these early patriarchs as being much like us in love and emotions. I think that these feelings may have been much more intense that whet we feel. i think the passing of time and the pervasiveness of death and wickedness hardens us a bit. Let's pray for God to soften our hearts.

Don't know what the mark of Cain was, don't know where Nod was or how far from Eden it was. Don't know how big the first city of Enoch was either, and don't wish to speculate. I don't find it necessary to know.

Ahh, Chapter 4, what a blessing it is to have God's Word in written form and for us to have accessed the ability He put in us to learn to read and understand writing. And, to also have us access the ability in us to learn to write our thoughts and convey them to others. He com-m unicates with us and we communicate with each other! Beautiful! We don't have to feel alone.

I love that God announced the gospel of Jesus Christ in chapter 3. From the beginning, everyone in his/her own generation had the opportunity to be made right with God, regardless of how fully they understood the proclamation in Genesis 3. Everyone is responsible to respond to what knowledge they have been given by God in his/her own time. God is merciful, not desiring for anyone to perish, but to receive eternal life. How blessed we are in our generation, to be on this side of the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior. Jesus Christ! But with that blessing comes a greater responsibility. Let each of us pray to be given clear knowledge of what God requires of each of us personally, since we have been given much.

In thinking about the Tree of Life. Some say it is Jesus in the garden. Yet this tree is now in heaven according to Revelations, and in Revelations we are told that there is no sun in heaven because Jesus fills heaven with His light. We are told that we will be able to eat of the tree of life in eternity. I guess we will have to wait and see what is really meant by this tree of life when we enter eternity. We will also have to wait until heaven to see what God meant when He said that mankind had become like one of Them. Certainly we are not like God in sin and imperfection, because God is holy and altogether good. There is no imperfection in him. he is infinitely perfect. It doesn't mean we are like him in perfection and goodness, because Jesus said that only God is good. We know good and evil.

This chapter speaks about Adam and Eve having children after the fall in the garden.

    Thank you, S Spencer,

Brother, on part one, this is something I will have to study more, I agree with what you are saying but it seems empty, if you know what I mean. Because the first Adam, before he sinned is unlike any mortal man since he sinned, his body was not born in corruption like ours, sin was not in him. We know man cannot see Gods face and live, Exodus 33:20-23, until the new heaven and new earth, Revelation 22:3-4 in our glorified bodies.

Going by Exodus no man can see God's face, so is that after sin or does that include the first Adam? If so, how did God communicate with Adam? He communicates with us through His Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus that dwells in us like you said by the blood of Christ shed on the cross. We see that even after they were cast out of the garden they were still in the presence of God because Cain was the first to be driven from the presence of God, Genesis 4:13-16.

Are the cherubim and flaming swords a shadow of the ark where God sits between the cherubim? Is that why they were in the presence of God?

I feel the first Adam and the last Adam Jesus Christ is all part of Gods plan that was before this world and I feel it involves Satan because this plan, that was before this world, included the lake of fire that was prepared for the devil and his angels, Matthew 25:4. However God communed with the first Adam he was part of this plan that Satan could not see, up to the crucifying of the last Adam, the only begotten Son, Satan was blind to this because he did not try to stop it. Like what He tried to do with Job he thought he could get Job to curse God to His face, which he also failed.

The questions here is more for me to study not to you.

    continued

At 1st glance it appears to be truth. I went through a Bible study with a Pastor friend I really respected, who taught this idea also & it seemed accurate but didn't set right in my Spirit. Years later I was reading Genesis & noticed something important that contradicts the "angels" married women: Genesis 4:26, (Son's of God ) * Romans 8:14, so it defines who are the son's of God, Jesus also defines the son's & daughters of God: Matthew 12:50, additional scriptures to back it up 2 Corinthians 6:17,18

    1 Corinthians 6:3, Galations 4:6,7

& if the Son's of GOD are those who do GOD's will, then that rejects fallen angel theory. & if we are called sons & daughters, it's mankind.

    2 Peter 2:11,12, James 2:19,

Further scriptures: Jude 1:6,7,8,9,10, Hebrews 1:13,14

    &

Tobit so far is the most indepth book speaking on these matters & interaction between Angels, & evil Spirits. Here are notable scriptures Tobit 6, Tobit 7, Tobit 8. If that kind of relation could have happened as you speak of wouldn't it have happened here?
  • Chris - In Reply - 4 years ago
Hello Phillip. Genesis 4:1: "And Adam knew (had sexual relations) with his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD". If Genesis gives a clear word that Adam was Cain's father, then when 1 John 3:12 is quoted in reference that Cain "was of that wicked one", it must mean that Cain's spirit was subject to Satan & not to God. God's Spirit would never allow a murder - only Satan would inspire that. So, if you wish to quote 1 John 3:12, you would need to look at Genesis 4:1 also.
  • Adam - In Reply - 4 years ago
No, he wasn't. Genesis 4:1 clearly states the truth about it. Beware of people who like to make stuff up and not cite any Biblical support. Believe God's word, not man's word.

    Chapter three:

1-12: Satan aka the serpent says to women that she should eat the fruit it has the knowledge and is good for food, women agreed and passed on to men, after the fruit was eaten they "opened their eyes" and ran from God due to nudity and fear. God put the tree there and made them in his image therefore God is evil and good and or has a concept of it.

15-16: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Women and men were separated and this caused them pain)

Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow, thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. (He wanted them to populate the Earth but in his rath, he took all their resources and turned the Earth against them, and made it hard for them to actually reproduce, also for some reason even though they were supposed to be equal made man rule over women)

17-20: God makes land poison and makes a man die and "return to dust." Even becoming a mother to all living and given the previous statement was a punishment for her sexuality and the desire to be independent.

Where does Scripture SAY THAT Cain and Able had different fathers? That is fallacy totally not in the scriptures. In fact it say very CLEARLY that Adam fathered both Cain in Genesis 4:1 and. Vs 2:

[ Gen 4:1-2 KJV] 1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

2 And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Clearly they were not even twins.

Probably you heard from someone that crazy twisted story...I challenge you to SEARCH the scriptures for yourself rather than #1) believe what someone told you what the Bible said and #2) find someone else who teaches the Word of God without mans doctrine or interpretation.

Believing that God, the Creator, speaks to us in and through the Word, we can read it and study it to understand it for ourselves...we MUST else we can believe a lie. He says what He means and means what He said. Man wants to twist it - which is luciferic. Lucifer added one word to what God said and altered the whole course of mankind to fall.

Without the Holy Ghost, who leads and guides us to ALL Truth We cannot understand the scriptures.

Donna Pittman on 1 Timothy 5:

"The Bible seems to contradict itself sometimes. I don't understand how the world was populated by only 2 people. Where did the people come from that Able was scared would find him and kill him when he was sent into the land of nod. Incest is a sin so who had those people?. I also don't understand how we were made in Gods image when It says God is a spirit. I need help."

The world wasn't populated by just two people. God created all the races on the 6th day. Genesis 1:26-31

(I don't understand why people disregard this and think Adam and Eve were the only two people on the planet.)

God rested on the 7th day.

On the "8th" day God noticed that all the people were just hunters and gatherers. Nobody farmed the land.

So he created Adam, then Eve. After they "ate the apple" God cast them out of the garden He created for them and they had to till the earth. Eve gave birth to Cain who tilled the land. Then Abel who tended the sheep. Cain killed Abel so God drove him away and he went and married one of the 6th-DayCreation women. By that time the 6th-Day-Creation people had multiplied greatly and there were thousands of them.

Then Eve had another son named Seth. It was from Seth's bloodline that all the greats came (Noah, Moses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the Prophets and finally Jesus.)

And, it was Cain (not Abel) that God sent to the land of Nod, who married and had children. Genesis 4:16-17

God set a mark upon Cain so that people would not kill him.

(What the "mark" is, is a hot subject to debate.)

I doubt you will find a Scripture verse stating the Cain was born of the evil one, i.e., Satan. Cain was Adam's first born and because of Adam's sin, Cain inherited a sinful nature, which all men born of women inherit. You man be thinking of these verses from Genesis: "And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him." Genesis 4:6-7 KJV

John look up the word to know or knew his wife is to bare a child, Genesis 4:17, Genesis 4:25, it is an eastern saying, in what I explained there are two genealogies shown in the Gospels for a reason Mathew and Luke. I never stated that joseph genetically had anything to do with Jesus Christ conception that was a Miracle. Mathew says the book of the generation of Jesus Christ why does it say generation in Luke 3:23 it starts out in parenthesis, being [as was supposed] the son of joseph he was not He was the Son of God.

    Lidia.

You said Cain and Abel were twins with different fathers. And you gathered this information out of Gen. 4:1-2.

Here is what the scripture says PLAINLY as we seek.

Genesis 4:1-2. AND ADAM KNEW EVE HIS WIFE; AND SHE CONCEIVED, AND BARE CAIN, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. ( So there's the birth of Cain by Adam and Eve. "His parents" )

( AND SHE AGAIN ) BARE HIS BROTHER ABEL. "This emphasizes a separate birth."

Sorry Lidia. These are dangerous views that we have had infect the site a little to often.

I Hope my Brothers and Sisters don't take much interest in this. I would advise you to take scripture as it is and not doctor scripture to paint a view. you can end up way off course.

Again please let this one pass us by!

The Genesis flood narrative tells how Noah and his three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with their wives, were saved from the Deluge to repopulate the Earth. ... In chapter 11 verses 10-26 a second list of descendants of Shem names Abraham and thus the Israelites.

In the Book of Jubilees (160-150 BC) the names of the wives of Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth are as follows:

    * Wife of Noah - Emzara.

    * Wife of Shem - Sedeqetelebab.

    * Wife of Ham - Na'eltama'uk.

    * Wife of Japheth - 'Adataneses.

In the Biblical view, the listed children of Japheth, Shem and Ham correspond to various historic nations and peoples. In the typical interpretation, these sons of Noah correspond to three races: European, Semitic, and African. Alternate divisions claim Euro-Asian Japhet, Semitic Shem, and Afro-Asian Ham.

The Genesis Rabba midrash lists Naamah, the daughter of Lamech and sister of Tubal-Cain, as the wife of Noah, as does the 11th-century Jewish commentator Rashi in his commentary on Genesis 4:22.

In the medieval midrash Parry, J. H. (ed.). "5:15". Book of Jasher. Translated by Moses, Samuel., the name of Noah's wife is said to be Naamah, daughter of Enoch.

Since the 17th century a number of suggestions have been made that relate the name Ham to a Hebrew word for "burnt", "black" or "hot", to the Egyptian word m for "servant" or the word m for "majesty" or the Egyptian word kmt for "Egypt".[4] A 2004 review of David Goldenberg's The Curse of Ham: Race and Slavery in Early Judaism, Christianity and Islam (2003) states that Goldenberg "argues persuasively that the biblical name Ham bears no relationship at all to the notion of blackness and as of now is of UNKNOWN (color) etymology.

Sorry it took so long to answer your question.

    Hi Richard.

    Part 1.

I personal believe they are, I believe they're saved by the same means as everyone else. Faith in the sacrificial lamb our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe the skins provided by the Lord himself speaks of that. The Lord speaks to us by Allegories, similitudes, ect.. And we know they brought sacrifices to the lord and all these sacrifices pointed to the Lord .

Genesis 4:4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: " This was asked of them" As I will attempt to bring forward with more scripture.

Hebrews 11:4. ( BY FAITH ) Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. "We know faith comes by hearing". Romans 10-17. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Christ was foreordained to come into the world to make remission for sins before the world begun.

And before Adam and Eve sinned.

    Ephesians 1:4.

    1 Peter 1:20.

    Titus 1:1-3.

While we are on this topic conjectural view I have.

Look what happens immediately after they have bitten of the tree of knowledge.

Genesis 3:7. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

"It seems them knowing they were naked was the main reason to keep them from eating on the tree of knowledge."

The tree of knowledge was the focal point before they ate, Them knowing they were naked is the focal point afterwards.

And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was "naked;" and I hid myself.

And he said, Who told thee that thou wast "naked?" Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

    Part 2.

    Consequences of knowing.

    GOD BLESS.

    DIANNE

    Greetings

All of us here are spinning like satellites around the Bible, which is the Word of GOD. The Word is GOD. The most important thing is to search for the GOD's Truth, many times it is hidden.

Two thousand years ago, the Word was made flesh-JESUS- and He came to create a new creature in GOD, the Father, through the new birth and saving what had been lost through Satan's usurpation of God's creation; In fact, without JESUS, was not any thing made that was made. John the apostle said: Now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is- 1John 3:v.2

What can we learn from the prophets, and from JESUS and His apostles?

JESUS in John 8:v.39-44: Dialogue between JESUS and the Jews:

39 -The Jews said unto JESUS,Abraham is our FATHER.Jesus saith unto them,If ye were Abraham's children(IF???),ye would do the works of Abraham.40 But now ye seek to kill me, ...(For JESUS the Jews were not Abraham's children)

41-The Jews said to JESUS:We be not born of fornication;we have one FATHER even GOD.

42 -Jesus said unto them,If GOD were your FATHER(IF?),ye would love me:

43 -Why do ye not understand my speech?even because ye cannot hear my word.

44 -Ye are of your FATHER the Devil, ...

45 -And because I tell you the truth,ye believe me not.

John the Apostle said:This is the message that ye HEARD from the beginning(yeah,we have heard from JESUS, the beginning),that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that Wicked One (the Devil,Satan),and slew his brother. (Cain was the FIRST son of the woman-Eve.He belonged to Devil. But the woman-Eve-said; Genesis 4:v1- I have gotten a man from the Lord.

The woman-Eve-had been deceived by the Devil; She spoke lie when she said that had Cain from the Lord, instead to say from the Devil.

That said, John REALLY said Truth, the woman-Eve-not.

Well, the ONLY ONE who was not born of the Devil was/is JESUS.

Lystra George ,there is some speculation about this ,i can only tell you what i believe ,others may have a different explination ,Cain commited murder ,God did not sentence him to death ,if He had Cain would have died at this point in the narrative ,God allowed Cain to continue living ,Cain was afraid that the people who loved Abel might try to kill him because he had killed Abel ,Cain asked God to do something to help him so that no one would kill him ,God chose to put a mark on Cain somewhere on him where everyone would see it ,no one knows what this mark was ,i have my own idea but its just my speculation so i'll keep it to myself ,this mark for some reason which we dont definately know ,stopped anyone from killing Cain , as you read there will be lots of things that come together slowly to you ,thats how it should be ,dont worry if you dont understand everything straight away ,no one does i promise you ,just stick with the Bible and come on here and ask us anything ,i will ask you ,do you think the mark of Cain and the bruise on the serpents head might be conncted ? You will know the answer to this question eventually i promise you ,may God bless your efforts to draw closer to Him .

    Hi Afrain.

The scripture doesn't say Cain got his wife from Nod. it says he dwelt in Nod and new his wife, nor does it gives the age of Cain and Abel, We know they had produce and animals and most likely families, And Adam and Eve was asked to multiply the Earth, So of course they had daughters, They could have been hundreds of years old and there could have had Thousands on the Earth from Adam and Eves offspring. I believe Cain had his already had a wife before he went to Nod, Either a sister or a niece.

    Genesis 4:16-17.

( And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, )

and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

Why would God tell Adam and Eve to replenish the earth if it's already populated?

    I hope this helps

    God bless.

    Genesis 5

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he (Adam) begat sons and daughters:

As was nothing in Genesis 4 that requires that Cain met people in the land and married into their clans.

We don't know if Cain and Abel had any other siblings at the time of Abel's murder, but we do know from Genesis 5:4, that Adam and Even had other sons and daughters.

It is not at all unreasonable to think that as the population of the world increased they spread out from around Eden into other lands. (NOD). All the members of the first generation would have married siblings or children of siblings. The genetic mutations we are concerned about now would not have been a problem, only after generations would mutations have crept into the gene pool and the danger of close intermarriage (consanguinity) come into being. In the first generations after Adam and Eve, human population would only have increased by FAMILIAL intermarriage.

Mishael comment: the gene pool was so new and strong, that (incest) was able to withstand genetic weaknesses and disease that it causes in our present time.

In fact, it is not until the book of LEVITICUS that we find it forbidden to marry siblings, half sibling and in laws.

Where did Cain find a wife? In the gap between Cain's banishment and Cain's marriage, ( Genesis 5:4). Adam and Eve had more children, probably many more children. We don't know how much TIME PASSED before Cain took a wife, but it's possible that Adam and Eve's children married and had children.

Cain probably married a sister, or maybe a niece. His wife came from the only available population of humans: the descendants of his parents Adam and Eve.

Genesis 3:20. And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Genesis 4:1. And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.

    Genesis 3:21

"Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them."

In order to make clothing for Adam and Eve, God had to kill an animal, shed it's blood; to make clothes for them.

Because they sinned, their spiritual connection to God was severed. They were flesh and soul. The were prevented from eating of the TREE OF LIFE. If they had, they would've lived eternally in sin.

We see that the TREE OF LIFE was moved to heaven, in the Book of Revelation.

Mankind has lived throughout history, with the knowledge of good and evil; or sin, and separation from God.

    Revelation 2:7

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of TREE OF LIFE, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

    Revelation 22:2

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the TREE OF LIFE, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

    Revelation 22:14

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the TREE OF LIFE, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

In Revelation, the tree of life represents the restoration of the life-giving presence of God. Restored access to the tree of life was made possible by "the second Adam" ( 1 Corinthians 15:44-49), Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for the sins of all humanity.

Genesis gives Adam and Eve three children, named Cain, Abel and Seth.

God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and MULTIPLY.

Which seems to imply the world wasn't multiplied.

Adam and Eve probably had a thousand kids Men and Women..

Genesis 4:16-17. And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

The scripture doesn't say Cain took a wife "from" Nod. It says he went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod, Adam and Eve could have been 100's of years old and their children children had kids, Perhaps he may have been married before he slew Abel and he brought over a wife to Nod.

I can go on and on!

You see we can speculate and go on and on about what we don't know but that don't change what we do know.

And that's Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the ""MOTHER OF ALL LIVING.""

    God bless.

I am wondering how many people made it to the Promised Land originally?
