Yes but all that applies to the third day of creation, we of the fourth day have the blood of Christ and don't have to do anything to have eternal life. However one's position in the hereafter will be influenced by a new commandment, John 13:34KJV.

Your personal behavior only affects YOU, according to our one and only new commandment "love one another as Christ have loved you, that ye also love one another," John 13:43. Your time in the hereafter will be judged according to this new commandment, so love one another as Christ has loved you and that's all you can do. Love.

Jesus Answered them, Have not I Chosen You Twelve and One of You is a Devil? ( John 6:70)
  • John of the Ghetto on John 13 - 6 years ago
Jesus chose his disciples, yes? How could he not know his person, whether he would betray him, as Judas did. There are apocryphal accounts of discourse between them relating spiritual matters. But the betrayal was necessary in the story. To me Judas represents the worldly person, not necessarily evil but of the world. And we know that this world is more evil than benign. Who will be saved, ?

God is first in our life when we awake in the morning. He is our light of love as we help others. We walk with His kindness. We turn to Him for help when needed. Glory to our Lord in Heaven. He's always there for us. Do you need Him right now? Get on your knees and find that quiet, place when you can hear His voice reply back to you. You are never alone. Mistakes in your life forgiven!!

I like verse 9 where Simon Peter says not just my feet but my hands and my head also. It may be that he is being sincere and is asking Jesus to wash his hands and head but I read it as Simon Peter making a joke to Jesus. If this is the case we can infer that Jesus had a sense of humour.

Verse 17~In order to be truly happy we must not only hear Jesus' teachings but we must also apply them and practice them.
  • Alex on John 13 - 7 years ago
Jesus said its the things that come from the HEART THAT DEFILES A MAN BUT TO EAT WITH UNWASHED HANDS DEFILETH NOT AMAN,ITS NOT OUR PERSONAL HYGIENE THAT DEFILES US ITS OUR HEARTS,BUT JESUS SAID HE THAT EATS BREAD WITH ME HAS LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST ME BUT JUDAS NEVA LIFTED UP HIS HEEL AGAINST CHRIST,JUDAS NEVA ASSAULTED JESUS WITH HIS FEET,ITS WAS HIS HEART THAT ASSAULTED JESUS,ITS OUR HEARTS

Where I go you cannot come, for this world is a place of becoming. We are not yet what we are meant to be. So God sends to earth for us models of perfection, as teachers, examples of his mercy, speakers of truth. How rare, on earth to hear truth spoken! But it is written in red, in psalms, in the teaching of Moses, and others. But on earth in this our day the truth tellers are few, if any. Oi

It is best to trust the scriptures. God had a plan which He put into practice after He begat his Son, it was based on foreknowledge. Many times God speaks of events and or people that will occur weeks or years latter. Make no mistake there is only One God ,One Son, One HOLY GHOST.

Judas was a type of Judah that sold Joseph, but Joseph forgave all his brethren that sold him into bondage,When Jesus was on the cross he prayed FATHER FORGIVE THEM THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO, THAT INCLUDED EVEN JUDAS , HIS LOVE AND MERCY IS BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSION. KEEP In MIND Peter also betrayed him.Paul was killing Christians but God forgave Him.His love and GRACE is beyond our comprehension.

Judas was chosen, but not by Jesus to betray him, God created us and gave us free will, when he put Adam and Eve in the Garden, it wasn't for them to fail, but the enemy came in, and therefore the fall of Man, It was in Judas heart and that's why the enemy chose him, it was already there and Jesus knew that, He(Judas) had a choice and he made it, and therefore paid the price for it.
  • ALEX on John 13 - 8 years ago
The foot washing was a HEART washing, Satan enters our hearts not our feet, Jesus had always said what comes from a MAN HEART is what DEFILES him, He neva said our personal hygiene defiles us. He says to eat with unwashed hands defileth NOT a man. Jesus said he that eateth bread with me has lifted up his HEEL against me,But Judas neva assaulted Jesus with his heel.ITS OUR HEARTS THAT NEED WASHING

Verse 35: The identifying mark of true Christians would be that they have self-sacrificing love like Jesus had for his disciples.

Judas Iscariote was called and chosen from among the many of Jesus' followers, to be "One of the Twelve." The Lord gave him every opportunity to become what God had planned for him, and to be one of the Pillars of the New Testament; but Judas would not! When Moses sent the twelve men to spy out the land, and bring word to the Congregation; all could have been like Joshua and Caleb, but ten failed!

Paye Youpele (cont.); The term, "That the Scripture might be fulfilled," doesn't mean that God plans ahead to make anyone sin! Then everyone could blame Him for making them something that He just wanted to destroy anyway! THAT IS A THOUGHT FROM THE DEVIL! What the Holy Spirit moved the holy Prophets and Apostles to write their observations and judgments, became Law of God; which must be fulfilled.
  • A disciple on John 13 - 8 years ago
Paye Youpele; Judas was NOT chosen so he could betray the Lord! Israel was not brought out of the bondage and cruel oppression of Egypt so they could defy God and resist His Spirit and that He may be able to leave them for forty years in the wilderness to die! God saves us with the fullest of good intentions! It is man's fault for his own selfishness if he DECIDES to betray the Lord and fall away!
  • Paye Youpele on John 13 - 8 years ago
John 3: 18 I know whom I have chosen but that the scripture may be fulfilled. Judas was only chosen to betray the lord to facilitate the mission of the lord. May the good lord choose us for something positive.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. The Old Testament was about fight the enemy, but Jesus command the Disciples to Love one another. Jesus is our sample to follow his Word. Love Love Love
  • Ray321 on John 13 - 8 years ago
John13:7 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now but thou shalt know hereafter. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. The Holy Spirit will open our eyes to the Word of God.

Can you imagine some Church leader throwing out John the Apostle, or any of those who supported Paul? ( 3 John 9-11) But everyone that is really and truly of God, will receive whosoever God sends to them. If they know us not, it is because they know not the Lord, whose we are. For us also, we must remember to be gentle and kind to every bruised reed and smoking flax; considering our own frailty.

Perhaps a person stopped going to a particular church because he learned that the church follows/teaches false doctrine. It does not necessarily mean he has broken fellowship (cut off, fallen away) with the Lord.
It would be worse for him/her to continue worshiping with them. His sheep hears His voice, and they follow him, they do not hear the voice of strangers!
  • Maria on John 13 - 8 years ago
I agree with this post.my family has been to many churches within my community, and have come across imposters and those whom are not truly following the Lord's word. And I still come across those whom say they are loving and accepting but than they turn their backs and start being judgemental. I do not expect someone to be part of any fellowship to prove they are God loving and truly faithful
