Where did tradition really come from? Are these people who keep traditions today pharisess? We as believers are to watch what come out from our mouth when ministering to people who are lost, we could be judging, however if that person want to have a relationship with God. I think people of God should live by example with their life not words, you should not be putting pearls in the ears of lost people, unless they are repenting and coming to Christ.

Jesus answered a question with a question. The scribes and pharisees were trying to catch Jesus, but They were the ones who got caught. That which goes into the man is not what defiles the man, but that which comes out of the heart. Keep thy heart with all diligence for out of it are the problems of life.

Jesus was taught a lesson by the woman from Canaan to rectify his patriarchal and tribal views about his mission. She is saying to Jesus I am worthy of your attention and you Jesus did not come here only for them. Jesus 's response is clear, he reconsiders saying that he needs to expand his views and learn more about women and other cultures. That is Good News for the world.

Elizabeth Lee or anyone else that may be confused. Until after Christ was crucified, salvation was not open to the gentiles necessarily to that fullness. This is NOT A STATEMENT OF DEGRADATION. After the crucifixion, whomsoever will! Salvation is open to everyone! The woman that Christ is going to heal is a gentile woman, so that should show you a lot. She was a Gentile who had the FAITH. She knew exactly who Jesus was. If you keep reading. You learn that the Jews called the Gentiles dogs. The Jews despised the Gentiles. Not Jesus. Jesus did NOT deny her. He healed her daughter.

Jesus is saying in Matt 5 24, that the the house of Isreal jews were to be saved first. Act 2nc chapter tells how the Jew from every nation met at Jerusalem, to hear the gospel and about 3000 souls were saved. The Gentiles were saved at a later time, when Peter went to preach to them. This woman was not a Jew, that 's why Jesus told her that. But, because of her faith, her daughter was healed by Jesus..

There are so many things that defile the man. For example, unfaithfulness, impure heart, fornication, evil thinking, plotting against someone etc. all these can defile the man and the points mentioned in the next verse that is work of the flesh..

Tradition is very beautiful and rich but its demands are a source of apathy 'twixt one and God for it is concerned of self righteousness.

Jesus was saying that He came to seek and to save all that are lost and not just the children of Israel. For the gospel and salvation is for everyone no matter what your ethnicity,
  • Rebecca on Matthew 15:24 - 11 years ago
YB Elizabeth has an interesting question, but I disagree with your answer. Many native Americans, over the two thousand some years since the resurrection, continued in their tribal religions. Read John 3 16, and reconsider your position. Faith in Jesus is the only thing that will save someone, not being born a Native American, or being born Hispanic. Please keep in mind that being a NativeAmerican does not make you saved by default, and being Asian or White does not make you less capable of being saved. To say that Jesus can only save certain ethnicities is discounting His love for sinners it is not His will that any perish .

This is a very important verse in the Bible.I Believe that if our worship of God is lip service it means that we do not have a relationship with Him because we do not know Him and He is not in that most important place our hearts. We need to stop giving lip service to God and begin to worship Him from our hearts,in Spirit and in truth.

I notice the only commandment almost universally denied is the only commandment denoting and honoring Jesus Christ Son of GOD as creator, and thus the only legitimate personage qualified to be our Savior.

To George Hartwell's question: I believe that this simply means if we continue in sin then we will surely die the death that is spoken of. But, if we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior then our sins be forgiven and we are cleansed and will not suffer this death that is mentioned but have everlasting life.

(This is my response to Lurline's comment dated 9/15/2013 at 5:20pm on Chapter 15 about verse 4):

God is a JUST GOD. He will NOT let it happen that His words shall NOT make known unto ONE flesh before the end come...In the last days, God shall pour out His Spirit upon ALL flesh ( Acts 2:17)...To pour out His Spirit means to make known His words ( Proverbs 1:23)...This shall be done after the gospel shall be preached to ever creature ( Mark 16:15-16) in all nations ( Matthew 28:9-20)...in all the world, and then shall the end come ( Matthew 24:14).
