Please read Luke 16, especially vs 22, about Lazarus and the rich man. An example of eternal torment. There is no way to escape the burning lake of fire.
  • Steven - In Reply on Matthew 25 - 6 years ago
When it says the wicked shall be "destroyed", (i.e. ruined) it refers to the fact that every bit of our EARTHLY LIFE will be "destroyed" i.e. wiped out, forgotten, ruined, thrown OUT. Keeping that in mind, they will be thrown out into outer darkness (verse 30 above) and everlasting fire (verse 41) Remember, this is King James era (AD. 1611) English. Death does not mean extinction of existence.

the bible tells us the wicked will be destroyed ...not tormented forever ... John 3:16 .....shall not perish ...not be tormented forever ...your thoughts on this? ....

"Friendly' Most non-believers I know actually all of them I know personally have had serious tragic painful experiences. Difficult situations that most people have not had to endure, therefore the basic answers from many people are not sufficient. Religious arguments don't heal injustice, pain, suffering or the like.
What's amazing is God hates hypocrisy too.
    Matthew 25:32 -46
Jesus was a light to the world, a healer, helper, & loved us all so much that He endured beating , people spitting in His face, plucking His beard, cruel mockings & crucifixion for us all. Psalms 22 is prophetic to what Jesus would suffer before His birth
History has documented this outside of the Bible also

Hi, Pastor, I'm a sheep. In response to your comment & questions. I picture Jesus over turning the tables Matthew 21:12 , I believe it wasn't just for that day. Matthew 21:13 , TODAY some ''Churches'' have books, merchandise, purchasable resources, purchasable Bible studies, expensive retreats, concerts etc. It is very difficult for some people to afford these, therefore leaving several out of the ''family'' events. James 1:27
When someone is in need, they have no choice to be in subjection to usury or do without. Matthew 25:31-46
I hope this is helpful & opens your heart to another perspective.

    Revelation 6:11 ,

    Matthew 25:10 , Matthew 25:13
    Hopefully this is helpful.
  • Love Covers a Mutitude of Sins - In Reply on 1 Peter 2 - 6 years ago
Kyle I have a lot of Compassion like Adam for you and will Pray too. When I was young I was Raped it left painful wounds for years but Jesus Healed me and Helped me to Forgave I still have the memory but not the pain. For a long time I felt guilty, I had been walking in Sin when it happened but after Confessing and being Forgiven and Forgiving I had Peace and now every time Satan trys to Condem me I Remember when we Confess our Sins we are Forgiven and that when we Follow Jesus we will be Persecuted. Satan doesnt worry about those who dont Walk with Jesus or dont Care about others only those who show Jesus Love in Words and Actions this really bugs him he didnt Win. Matthew 25:31-40.

Hi Bob, I read Martin Luthers Biography yes he did die in 1546 and I agree with his understanding of Gods Truth that we cant earn our Salvation but we will show we have it as confirmed by Jesus in Matthew 25:31-46 The Changes He made in his Translation were no doubt to confirm what he believed was true but I will check again on the Website that claimed he was wrongly changing Scripture. I have mostly Worshiped in other Protestant Churches so do not know much about his Reformation only that he rejected the Heresy in the Roman Catholic Church which is good, that is why I found it hard to accept he would agree with the Apocrypha it does contridict Gods Truth as we see in Jude about the Angels.

wow...so much deception is what i see in the comments....Half Trues...2 main Errors...Tribulation is Not God's Wrath...and Day of Christ is Not same as Day of The Lord...Day of Christ is Jesus coming for His Bride...Day of The Lord is Time of 3 Years of God's Wrath upon The Wicked that are Still in Power on Earth...Falling Away is The Church of The Last Days...Luke Warm and Sick... Isa 5 shows God removing The Hedge around His Vineyard...All Over The World...Not just tiny Israel. The Church has been Grafted In to Israel.. Eph. 2:11-20 and Romans 2:29,30...God only has ONE Bride since The Beginning ..Not Two ... Matthew 25: 6..Jesus is Coming for His Bride at Midnight....Our Darkest Hour . PRAY

There is a lot I don't know or understand but I do understand these commands that Jesus give. What is important is be ready -- Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also READY: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. 27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Rodney, those who said Lord Lord and braged about their works to Jesus Lacked what He said in Matthew 25:31 showed their Love but as confirmed some do works but for their own Glorifiacation and Profit. But we don't have to feel bad about doing good but it must come from our Hearts, God's Good Works which He has Prepared in Advance for us to do are always Motivated by His Love not the Carnal Flesh.

Balance. Balance. Balance. It seems that both are true. Our works or what we so, how we act MUST demonstrated our faith. Yet our faith for our salvation can never be grounded in the shaky ground of who we are or what we have done. On Christ and His blood I will stand ALL other ground is sinking sand.

You asked about the rapture. I don't know. In the bible it says that when Jesus comes, there's no time to do anything. After he has come, the non-believers are sent to eternal punishment and the believers to eternal life. See: Matthew 24:36, Matthew 25:46 and Revelation 20:15.

My interpretation is that our bodies and souls after death will be in sleep mode awaiting judgment after Jesus returns. I do not see Bible evidence that Christians' souls go to heaven then go back to our bodies on earth then go back to heaven. 2 Corinthians 5:10 Matthew 25:31-46.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on Matthew 25 - 6 years ago
The dead in Christ shall rise first. They are already risen. If you are saved and die, you go straight to Heaven. At the end of days, we that are alive will be caught up together with them and Christ.

What 2 witnesses are you talking about? Are you referring to the 2 witnesses in Revelations in Chapter 11 or 12? If so I think it's fairly accepted that these 2 are going to be Elijah the prophet and Enoch. Both of these guys were swept up to heaven. In short they never died. Yet the Bible states it's appointed for everyone to die "and then comes the judgement". So these guys come back to earth
  • James C Hunt on Matthew 25 - 6 years ago
When the Bible talks about the dead in Christ will rise first what's being said is that those people who have crucified the flesh. In short they have made themselves dead to the world and alive to Christ. The virgins who didn"t put oil in their lamps - this is a direct reference to the light of God"s word which comes via the Holy Spirit. The 5 virgins had no light so they walked in darkness.

The wicked lie saying, No where does it say who the two witnesses are. But I believe they could be any 2 of these 3. But it could be you and me or any two saints. I ask God lots of time for Him to let me be one of them. It would be an honor to die again for Christ. YE NEITHER WITNESS NOR HONOUR ME. It is written, I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me bear witness of me.

First you got to know that there was a person named Jesus. He of course is all through the bible but not only the bible but through other publications. If you have computer search and you will see that other writings about him was made by others not only the saved but of the unsaved. Most of these speak of him as a leader of a cult. Many who knew him testified of him after his death.

ch.25: mainly be diligent and responsible with what you have been given-God is coming with rewards in His hand. We may be surprised by the things he has kept in our account when we get to heaven, but we know the Father desires to give us the kingdom. I don't want to be a goat!

Verse 1-13, only 50 percent entered into the marriage, 50 percent did not make it in. 14-30 someone wasted her his talent Life Free or slave, Life from Jehovah GOD is the talent foundation, what we do with our Life is a personal-chore never-the-less I shall give an account to GOD that day. And I will not be able to blame nobody for what I did or did not do with my talent life.

The reason why the dead in Christ rise first, is because they have to come from 6 feet under. Their bodies are meeting-up with their spirit in the air. Those alive and remain are on the earth. They do not have far to go. That is why the dead in Christ has to rise first. Both those who are dead, and those alive will receive their Glorified Bodies. Just like Our Lords. A Bloodless Body! GLORY!!!!

The Joy of Salvation is a Definite Mystery to The Lost. We are The Light that Shines in The Darkness of this World. We are to Take Up Our Cross Daily( Luke 9:23) Telling Others The Way of Salvation. Will we Hear Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Servant( Matthew 25:21) It's Heavy on The Heart to Know That More are Going to The Lake of Fire, and Few that Go to Heaven( Matthew 7:13-14)

If The World Does not See Christ in Us, We are in Big Trouble and They Will not Find The Narrow Road Which Leads to Eternal Life. We are that Light. Like it's Been Said, Let it Shine. We Will have Tribulation, Persecution,Trouble, in Jail, Lied about But Continue inThe Faith: You will Hear, Well Done Thou Good and Faithful Servant--- Enter Thou Into The Joy of Thyself Lord( Matthew 25:21)
