John 20:17, just think sunrise on the morning of the Feast of First Fruits, Leviticus 23:9-14, a shadow of what was being fulfilled when Jesus rose from the dead. The priests were waving the sheaf of grain left and right before the altar, and the women were arriving at the Lord's tomb around the same time. They could not eat or partake of the first harvest until it was waved and accepted by God, Jesus had to present Himself to God, He is the First Fruits of those of the dead, the first harvest.

Is this why Mary could not touch Him? We see later after He presented Himself and was accepted by God, after He returned then they could touch Him, Matthew 28:9. He was raised in His glorified body the same as we will be raised in our glorified body, 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 1 Corinthians 15:53-54. Eternal life is the gift and hope we have through Jesus Christ our Lord in Jesus.

Glad to meet you. I agree that the oneness of marriage is a covenantal unity, with two distinct people being made one. But I also believe that there is a uniting of the two in a way that only God knows and does.

In the case of Jesus and the Father in the verse you quoted, the oneness shared by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is the divine essence of the One being of the Godhead. There are three distinct persons, but One Divine Being. Each person possesses the divine essence that identifies them as True God together, and they possess this essence each in infinite fullness and wholeness. It is a mystery to us. But Scriptures says clearly that God is One, meaning one being AND one in unity. The Scriptures also say clearly that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are distinct Persons in this unity, all are divine, but there are not three gods, but One Being who is God. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 that the disciples are to baptize believers in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This Godhead, three divine Persons in One Being, is YHWH, the True and Living God, the Most High God, the Almighty God, the Creator of all things.

The Persons of the Godhead are relationally in each other. They are in communion with each other. They are united in will and purpose. They possess all divine attributes corporately and individually. Jesus said that the Father is in Him and He is in the Father ( Jn. 14:10). Vs. 15 says that He (Jesus) speaks but the Father does the work that the disciples see Jesus do (they work in unity) In vs. 23 Jesus says that the Father and Himself will make their abode in those who love Him, yet it is the Spirit who is said to dwell in us. So, if the Spirit lives in us, so does, Jesus and the Father, in every believer. Yet, at the same time, God fills the universe and is everywhere present. In Jn. 15:23 Jesus says that he who hateth Him hateth His Father. If you read all of the Last Supper Discourse you will find that: ..

Part 2.

The Foundation and Corner stone.

Jesus being the corner stone and the Apostles being the foundation signifies the beginning of a groundbreaking plan to erect a building and that building is the Church.

As I mentioned previously, the commission to carry the Gospel to the world came right after the resurrection, as shown in the Gospels " Luke 24:42-49 and Matthew 28:19-20."

I agree with you that the scripture says to the Jews first, and then the Gentiles,

However, I would suggest that the Gospel was preached to them before the cross as well as Abraham.

Hebrews 3:17-19 - Hebrews 4:1-6.

"But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

I agree with Gigi, The Apostles were told to go out to preach the gospel to the whole world and I believe the old economy "if that's the correct term to use" ended at the crucifixion when the veil was rent from top to bottom.

The timing of the beginning and ending of what God ordained in the old and in the new covenant was totally of God, "Not according to man's response to it"

The OT scripture said salvation would go out to the Gentiles by the seed which shall come. some expected it in the New Testament as seen in Luke 2:30-32. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, which thou hast prepared before the face of all people. A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

Also.

Jesus said in John 2:19-22 he would tare the temple down and build it again in 3 days.

That was the end of temporary temple that only served as a shadow of what was to come. Hebrews 9:6-11.

When he rose from the grave, he went to the disciples and see here what he said in Luke 24:42-48.

And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

And ye are witnesses of these things!

Concerning the veil being rent from top to bottom.

Here is what was accomplished at the death and resurrection of our Lord.

Here in Hebrews 6:17-20 we see Jesus as our "forerunner" and High Priest.

We have been once and for all cleansed and can now enter therein with a clear conscience. See Hebrews 9:8-26.

Hebrews 10:8-22.

The veil being rent signifies the end of the old covenant and the resurrection ushered in the new covenant.

The commission came right afterwards. Luke 24:42-49. and Matthew 28:19-20.

Christ's daily ministry: Prophecy

Prophecy was inextricably woven throughout all phases of Jesus' ministry. The Parables had hidden truths on His return; the fate of the Apostles and the future end time events were emphasized in Matthew 24; and His role of God in the flesh was brought to the attention of the Pharisees as well as to those who would worship Him recognizing His Divinity. In this regard; of course hell was discussed more than heaven including the real account of Lazarus and the rich (unnamed) man in hell.

It is truly remarkable to see how the miraculous signs and wonders were unable to wake anyone up to the truth who God didn't elect. Such is the case with the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man. Such is the case in Luke 16:31. In fact; when we consider the Crucifixion and Resurrection even clear evidences weren't enough to convince the Roman officials and those in power. This is abundantly clear from Matthew 28:13 where the soldiers were actually paid for "sleeping on the job" when such an offence by law would be a death penalty certainty. Men will go out of their way to lie; just as we saw with Lazarus being raised by Christ they saught to kill him and Christ because of their insane jealousy of His authority ( John 12:9-11).

In all of this we shouldn't avoid seeing the big picture. Christ in all of His ministry only did the Father's will ( John 8:28; 38; John 12:49). His exaltation; therefore and claims to Diviity were never self serving; but whowed God's plan. Somehow Christ would condescend to being a man; and have a life of sorrow and suffering ( Isaiah 53); then He would take on the sins of all His elect and be our atonement; dying on the cross and rising victorious. EXERCISING His authority would be after God grants it to Him ( John 28:18). He voluntarily emptied Himself of this authority so God could renew it (Phillipians 2:5-8).

Christ knew all men's hearts. We can say that all things were done in the Spirit by Him.

Yes, the scriptures are crystal clear on this.

The scriptures make it very clear that every Christian has to be baptized, Matthew 28:19

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

This is also how we receive God's Holy Spirit, Acts 2:38 says, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

It already says what it says and means what it means, whether someone likes it or not. You can't pick and choose which scriptures you like or dislike like a buffet-style Christianity. I don't think Jesus would approve of that. Water baptism sure was important to Jesus, so much so He was baptized Himself as an example. Wow, God was water baptized so there's no doubt whatsoever what someone needs to do to follow Jesus. Seems like a pretty big crystal clear sign, but people will still find excuses and rationalizations to disobey as they always do.

It sure seems very important based on these verses, do you agree? Blatant disobedience is not a sign of a true Christian according to what the Bible says.

I've never understood how someone can call himself a Christian but aim to do the very minimum they assume they need to do in order to get to heaven. I don't think Jesus is a bare minimum type of being. He wants all of you like the greatest commandment says: Matthew 22:37-38. It doesn't say love God with only part of your heart and pick and choose whatever you're comfortable with in obeying and its totally cool if you don't do 50% of the stuff in the Bible. The life of a Christian is to be a slave to righteousness. It's not just a get out of hell free card to enjoy following satan and do whatever lust the heart desires. Most will cry Lord Lord at the end assuming they're saved, but will not be. These are people that tell everyone they're saved and will be devastated on how they got it wrong and actually didn't love Jesus like they claimed.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 2:14,15, that the Gentiles who did not have God's Law served to them, do by instinct that which the Law contained - that Law (in some perceptive form) is written on their hearts & their consciences. So man, whether Jew or Gentile already had received knowledge of right & wrong, of the True God & false gods, of that knowledge pricking his heart when he knew he had done wrong, but he chose to suppress that knowledge & create his own beliefs, gods, & values. He may not know all about the True God, as Israel had known God, but each person had the evidence of God's essential requirements in their hearts; and this should cause them to turn to this 'unknown God' to worship & for help in dealing with sin that affected their hearts & consciences (even as some of the Athenians did in Acts 17:22-34).

And so the great need for the Gospel of Salvation is to go out into all the world ( Matthew 28:19,20), so that both the Jew under the Law & the Gentile without the written Law, might hear of the forgiveness, cleansing & redemption found only in Christ Jesus. There were Gentiles in the Old Testament days that were touched by God (e.g. those of Nineveh, Huram (king of Tyre), the Queen of Sheba, King Darius, etc.); they may not have fully turned from their gods to follow the True God, but we do see that Gentiles were also in God's Mind in those days, so none was without excuse.

But now through the Gift of His Son, God has reached out to ALL men everywhere, that they may find spiritual healing & a restored relationship through faith in Jesus' Name ( Acts 17:30).

God is in complete control of everything. Jesus Christ has all power and authority in heaven and in earth.

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

The Jews, God's chosen people killed Jesus for several reasons. They were blinded so that Jesus could be crucified and we could be saved.

Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy

It was god's will for them to be blinded so we the gentiles could obtain salvation. It was god's plan before he created the world.

Revelation 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

As far as god's name. He has many different names in many different tongues. Jesus Christ is good enough for me. Once you receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior you will receive his spirit... the holy spirit into your heart or soul.

Lucifer is the god of this world. He has been given authority down here and his job is to kill, steal, and destroy. He is a liar and the father of lies and a murderer. God gives people a choice... Choose him which is the way, the truth, and the life and the only way to father Abba or you can choose the devil receive an unclean spirit and eternal damnation in the lake of fire. I choose New Jerusalem and eternity to bask in the glory of the only one true and beautiful and glorious god. In heaven you will feel the love of god's spirit radiating through you for eternity. You won't hunger, thirst, have any knowledge of sin. You will be glorified with Christ and become one with god in paradise. Everything will be made new including you. I would not study anything to do with freemasonry or secret societies or anything that the enemy's side does. It is a shame to even mention the things they do in secret.

Hello Leed, You have mentioned several topics here and they are worth discussing. For me today, I will address you inquiry of the one who controls the earth today, it seems that you are implying an evil entity, Satan, is the one who does so.

I agree that Satan is at work in humanity and in the earthly realm to deceive, kill, and bring to destruction anyone he can. But I do not believe that he has any power that has not been allowed him by God. God could have destroyed him at anytime since his rebellion prior to creating humanity. But God has a wise purpose for allowing Satan to continue do harm to humanity and the earth.

Matthew 28:18, Jesus' words, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."

Ps. 110:1 says of the Messiah, "Sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool." (also referred to in Matt.22:44; Acts 2:34)

Mark 14:62, Jesus states this when asked if He is the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? "I am. And ye shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven." At this, the high priest roe his clothes and accused Jesus of blasphemy.

Eph. 1:19-21 "And What is the exceeding greatness of His power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, which He wrought in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this worl, but also in that which is to come."

Leed, these verses (and many others) tell me that Jesus is the Sovereign Ruler of all heaven and earth. He is on His heavenly throne with all power and authority over all this has been created. He will reign until all enemies are put under His feet (vanquished, defeated, and judged). Then Jesus will hand His eternal kingdom and reign over to the Father. ( 1Cor. 15:24-28).

The LORD is my ROCK in HIM I will hide, for HE is my shelter in the time of storm. I have nothing to fear or regret when I place all things into my LORD'S hands. For my KING the LORD JESUS CHRIST will make all things right and just and I will praise and worship HIM.

To truly praise and glorify HIM, I must therefore go forward as a soldier of the LORD to plant the seed, to water by helping to nurture disciples and baptizing them; giving to further the work, and having a disciplined and deeply rooted prayer life in HIS word. I will endeavor to study and meditate in HIS word to know the will of my SAVIOR GOD and going out to do the work that I am ordained to do.

We are sealed by the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30.

Here's the contrast to that.

Matthew 13:19-23. When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Holyspirit spirit reveals the truth of God and takes the truth and seal it.

Also;

John 16:12-15. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Here in John 16:30-32 we have a picture of the disciples belief shattered after Jesus was crucified.

But after they were sealed they preached boldly!!

Look at their condition in Matthew 28:16-17.

So lets sum up John's ministry.

1. He preached people to leave their sinful lives and turn back to God. To obey God's commadments. He led them to repentance for their sins and asking for forgiveness. That was done during baptism, in public. He helped them clean their hearts as a first step towards the salvation that was going to be revealed to them through Jesus. Obviously John had to teach people to clean their hearts before introducing the Savior. to them.

2. He revealed the Savior to them. From that time onwards John was diminishing and Jesus kept increasing ( John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease."

Hence John, the last prophet of the Old Testament era functioned as a bridge between Judaism and Christianity, between the OT and the NT, between the Law and the Grace. John's ministry served as a smooth transition from one era to a whole new era. He was an ntercessors (I don't know if this is a proper word). That was his ministry. It is what Isaiah said.



Now lets go to the incident that Jesus gives His apostles His final instructions before leaving. That incident is described in both Matthew and Mark.

Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world"

The same incident is described in Mark as ( Mark 15-18) , "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is BAPTIZED shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned..."

So I think it becomes obvious that Jesus talks about water baptism, not Spirit baptism.

About the creeds. I live in a country where everybody knows the Nicene creed, we are tought it in school as well. And I can assure you that the baptism it talks about is the water baptism. I think you can find a lot of information about it on the net.

Next. Were the apostles born again when Jesus was with them? John 13:10, "Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all.". So they were "clean". That means they were already born again and saved. Judas here is not called clean not because he wasn't saved but because he was already sinning. How do we know that? Because Jesus washed Judas feet as well, but not Judas' whole body.

So they were saved. Were they w/baptized?

There are so many cases in Acts that show how important water baptism is. The apostles always asked believers to be water baptized as soon as they believed.

1) The incident with Phillip and eunuch,

2) Peter preaching at Pentecost, Acts 2:38, "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.",

3) the incident with Cornelius, Acts 10:47, "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?",

4) Philipp in Samaria, Acts 8:12, "But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.",

5) Paul himself, Acts 9:18, "And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized."

6) Paul with the disciples in Ephessus, Acts 19:3, "And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism"

7) And most important of all is the commadment Jesus gave to apostles before His departure, Matthew 28:19, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"

We are not left to our own devices, nor to be buffeted about ( Ephesians 4:14b) "with every wind of doctrine" but we are lead every step of the way. However, to be truly successful and unmovable, we must be deeply intimate with our LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST through Scripture. Then take this knowledge and apply it in a Christ-like, Christ honoring, manner in our daily conversation and contact with whomsoever the LORD brings to us. 1 Peter 3:15

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

There are too many people in today's society confused of their reason for being here, who they identify as, and where to go for help. May our testimony in the LORD JESUS CHRIST make a difference as we pray, 2 Timothy 2:1-3; and go forth to make disciples, Matthew 28: 18-20; but most important- our own personal growth in the LORD, 2 Peter 1, Titus 2:11-15. Thank YOU FATHER for this day as I worship and glorify YOU on this Resurrection Sunday. Let YOUR face shine upon us as we go forth as an army to do YOUR will. Let all the saints arise and not be silent in giving YOU praise!

May my tongue extol and magnify YOU, because YOU so richly deserve the praise we should give unto YOU. "May the words of my mouth be acceptable unto YOU."

Thank YOU LORD for answered prayers and the peace and comfort that follows as we learn to abide in YOU according to Scripture. Isaiah 26: 3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."

Praise the LORD for all on this forum and for the promises YOU give to us. May we all endeavor to trust, believe, and walk for "...in the joy of the LORD is my strength.."

May we be faithful as we pray for our nation's leadership and their need for a relationship with our LORD JESUS CHRIST. 1 Timothy 2:9. Let us not faint or be weak; but may we go forward and reach the lost. May we be not weary of well doing, but be strong through HIS word and promises.

We must be about the work of the LORD, making disciples as we called to do in Matthew 28: 18-20.

As GOD is not willing that anyone should perish, 1 Peter 3:9, we must be encouraged and plant the seed, water where we can so that the LORD GOD will give the increase. 1 Corinthians 3:6

The time is at hand where all saints are called to duty and reach out, pray up, and tell to all the salvation available in the gospel of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. Romans 10: 9-12; Acts 4:10-12.

GOD bless all on this platform and praise the LORD on this Resurrection Sunday, 2023. GOD to shine HIS face on all, and be gracious as we await HIS coming.

I would advise you to follow the words of Jesus in Matthew 28:19 and disregard the churches that teach otherwise.

But, if you are aware of these churches that teach differently than what is written in Matthew 28:19, go to them amd

share with them the truth.

Ok, let me ask this question a different way.

What does Matthew 28:19 mean? Is this a command?And is Jesus the final authority on the subject?

Why do some churches teach to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ ONLY, when Jesus Christ Himself says in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?

They could be basing their claim on any one of the following pieces of scripture:

John 1:1, John 1:14, John 8:24, John 8:58, John 10:30-33, John 20:28, Hebrews 1:8, Colossians 2:9, Philippians 2:5-8, Psalm 45:6.

The Bible tells us that we are to worship God alone, and yet Jesus received worship and never rebuked anyone who worshipped Him. We see evidence of this in Matthew 2:2, Matthew 2:11, Matthew 14:33, Matthew 28:9, John 9:35-38, Hebrews 1:6.

Isaiah 44:6 reads, "Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last, and there is no God besides me."

In Rev 1:17, it says "And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as a dead man." In Daniel 10:8-9, Daniel did the same thing. When he saw this vision of Christ, he fell down as he was dead. In Ezekiel 1:28, Ezekiel sees the vision and he falls down as a dead man. It goes on to say "Fear not; I am the first and the last: (the designation of God, found in Isaiah 41:4, and Isaiah 48:12).

In Revelation 1:18, it says I am He that lives, and this is another designation of God found in Psalm 84:2, and Joshua 3:10.

I am He that lives. God presents Himself to the Jews as the living God. He says I am He that lives, and was dead; literally, and became dead, and behold, I am living forevermore, His resurrection, His eternalness.

And then it reads, Amen; and I have the keys of hell and of death. Keys are a symbol of authority. Those who were in charge of the temple had the keys to the temple. We are told later on that the Lord (Jesus) will be in control of hell and death.

In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks His disciples who do you say I am? Peter had the perfect answer. Peter said "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Peter was Jewish. The phrase "Son of the living God" from a Hebrew standpoint is a phrase used for God. To a Jew, claiming to be the Son of God was considered blasphemy, but that was Peter's response to who Jesus was

If I may add to Chris' reply, the first day of the week (Sunday) is the day Jesus was resurrected. Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets, and the feasts were a part of the Mosaic Law. The Jewish festival that was the same day Jesus was resurrected that many overlooks with traditions is the Feast of First Fruits, Leviticus 23:9-14.

We see in John; Mary Magdalene went to the tomb, and it was still dark, and she was the first to see Jesus. He would not let her touch Him, the reason was, He had not ascended to His Father, John 20:17. Jesus ascended at the same time the priest was waving the sheaf, (lifting up). After He returned, they could then touch Him, Matthew 28:8-10.

As the sheaf of the first harvest had to be sacrificed and accepted by God before they could eat of the harvest and look forward to the next harvest as that day was the first day of counting the days of the weeks until seven sabbaths to the second harvest, the Feast of Weeks, Pentecost. Jesus ascended and was accepted as the First Fruits of the dead and returned, then they could touch Him.

We see the second harvest Pentecost, also was the same day of year the fire of God came down upon the mount with Moses, and the day the Holy Spirit that Jesus said He would ask the Father to send, came down on the room where they were gathered as cloven tongues as of fire.

Just a little of the end of the week that started when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the 10th of Nisan the day the lambs were taken up, the day that is called Palm Sunday.

Hello Dc730banks. All we are given in the Bible is that Jesus arose from the grave (sepulchre) on the "first day of the week", i.e. after the end of the Sabbath Day which was at sundown on the seventh day (Saturday): Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:2,9.

Jesus was taken down from the Cross & laid in the sepulchre prior to the commencement of the Sabbath (i.e. before Friday sundown), was in the grave the rest of Friday night, all day Saturday, & into the early hours of Sunday (considered three days). Then it was at day-break Sunday that the two Marys went to the sepulchre & learned that Jesus had risen from the dead. And this first day of the week (Sunday), was celebrated by the apostles & early Church (as it is now) in Christian fellowship, teaching & communion ( Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2).
