Sometimes it helps to use the word SEARCH box. Search wrath, anger, backbiting. You get the whole panorama on the word and it's use in a sentence.

    Romans 13:4

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

    Romans

Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

    2 Corinthians 12:20

For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:

    Galatians 5:20

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

    Ephesians 2:3

Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

    Ephesians 4:26

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

    Ephesians 4:31

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Question I have. When king David led Israel's army to defeat all enemies, clear the land of inhabitants so Israel could live in the land promised by God, can we say David's motive was love and obedience or anger and vengeance? Also, when Jesus cleared the temple of money changers and vendors was His motive love and obedience or anger?

How can we use our mouths (voices) to speak what is good or bad?

The mouth is used for speaking:

    To speak what is good

Proverbs 10:11 See also Job 16:5; Psalm 19:14 "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."

    To praise

Psalm 71:8 See too Psalm 89:1--"I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations."

Romans 15:6 (NLT) -- "Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    To testify about God

Psalm 71:15 Compare Romans 10:10 (NLT) -- "For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved."

    To speak what is bad

    Psalm 10:7 other references: 1 Samuel 2:3 --

"Do not keep talking so proudly or let your mouth speak such arrogance, for the LORD is a God who knows, and by him deeds are weighed."

    Proverbs 5:3 --

"For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil" -- NIV

Proverbs 7:21 -- New King James Version

"With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him."

Luke 6:45 Jesus said, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good, and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh."

    Hi David W Black,

I agree that Cain inherited his sinful nature from Adam. Before Adam & Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good & evil they knew no sin because they were made in the image of God. It was only after they ate from the tree that they new good & evil.

Jesus is our role model on how we [should] live. [If] it was [impossible] for us to [sin no more] then Jesus wouldn't of commanded us to [do] it.

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: [sin no more], lest a worse thing come unto thee.

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and [sin no more].

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we [keep] his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

John 15:10 [If] ye [keep] my commandments, ye [shall] abide in my love; even as I have [kept] my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, [if] we [keep] his commandments.

Leviticus 22:31 Therefore shall ye [keep] my commandments, and [do] them: I am the LORD.

John 14:15 [If] ye love me, [keep] my commandments.

    Leviticus 26:3 [If] ye walk in my statutes, [and keep] my commandments, and [do] them;

Numbers 15:40 That ye may remember, and [do] [all] my commandments, and [be holy] unto your God.

Deuteronomy 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, [and keep all] my commandments [always], that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!

Proverbs 7:2 [Keep] my commandments, and [live]; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

Exodus 20:6 And shewing mercy unto [thousands] of them that [love me], [and keep] my commandments.

Deuteronomy 5:10 And shewing mercy unto [thousands] of them that [love me] [and keep] my commandments.

Deuteronomy 11:27 A blessing, [if] ye [obey] the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day.

Not only does this proverb use the example of a man giving into sexual desire, I can't help but to hear Satan beguiling Eve in the garden and she ultimately falling out of favor with God because of it. And then suckering Adam into the same trap. At the end of the day, this is a great example of how Satan constantly tries to beguile born again believers into his traps of sin and bondage, whether it be sexual sin, drunkenness, greed, or whatever sin we are prone to be weak for. No matter how beautiful an opportunity may be, we must never be so quick to "Jump into bed" with every opportunity that is presented to us. If we would only be strong enough to respond in true Christ Likeness Character, we would respond in the same manner that Jesus responded to Satan when he was tempted in the wilderness.... "It is written"....

I pray that everyone who struggles with temptations be strong enough to withstand the devils offers on Jesus Name.

Resist the devil and he shall flee from you.

    Amen.

While recovering from sexual sin I wrote this poem THE MOUNTAIN
There looms a mountain before me it s top I cannot see, how long I ve been climbing I remember not, seems to me the time has come for me to return to where I m from, as I turn I see just how far I be come so now I ll take a step the step above... This proverb reminds me that God can deliver me from any sin just like he did king David.

Above we learn of a beautiful but deadly trap. 1000's of years such trap has conquered all who did not have Jehovah, GOD, Wisdom and Understanding. Verse 23 perfectly describe our end when trapped by the above circumstance. But John 3:16-21 offer us SALVATION thereby the Power-of-GOD is available to deliver us from such a self inflicted evil straight jacket and destructive circumstance.

If Jesus had not died on the cross there would have been no sacrifice, then there would not have been a resurrection so death would not have been defeated. We would all be doomed to hell.

Praise God..At the ending of life you start to judge yourself by the wrong turns you took-- when you went the opposite way of God's way He had set up for you. Instead of a easy way out you chose the opposite. Now what do you do but suffer. Stop-- turn it around-- show the enemy of this world what you have now! GOD BY YOUR SIDE!! Now go for what God always wanted for you.... CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!!
  • Patty Tozi on Proverbs 7 - 6 years ago
I have learned to use wisdom if you step into a rot of Satan's Lies. If you continuously go back and forth into that sin and not ask God's forgiveness. You are slowly destroying your Body which God gave you Life with the Holy Spirit. And all you want to do is sinful Lust-drugs-smoke-drink commit self to Satan. STOP NOW! God is close to be your Judge in the end of Life. Don't let Satan rule you!!!
  • Ruben Hartness - In Reply on Proverbs 7 - 6 years ago
We do not judge anyone, good or bad. God is the one and only judge. Mat 7:1 We do have the right of spiritual discernment dividing the Word of God.
  • Prov 27:1 on Proverbs 7 - 6 years ago
I do think it can mean that and trust me the last thing we need is a Christian judging another Christian for there short comings.

The main emphasis of Proverbs 7 is obedience to the Word of God which is the antidote of abuse sexual immorality of love called Eros between a man and a woman. The fire of this love Eros which is put in our body by God for romantic and sexual attraction towards one's spouse must not be allowed to burn towards another person other than one's spouse otherwise the implication is grievousV1-27

Does anyone else think that the harlet could be alcohol. The word Liver caused this thought. It was beautiful to me. I was in a state of love. It don t only destroy the liver, it caused my body to abort one of my twins. No condemnation please every time I look at my other one I think of it .

When we want to know Gods will, there are three things that always concur-the inward impulse, the word of God,and the trend of circumstances.God in the heart, impelling you forward,God in His book corroborating whatever He says in the heart, and God in circumstances, which are always indicative of His will.Ref:A lesson about Gods will from F.B. Laura Marshall. The men wore robes, as did the women. You could tell the difference between the two. (Verse 5 - A distinction is made between a man's garment and a woman's garment. The difference was obviously noticeable.) Proverbs 7:10 also speaks of the "attire of a harlot". You could make assumptions based on a one's clothing. God's purpose in this passage is separation and distinction.

I think this chapter is as clear as it can be. it is a warning against being led into adultery with a beautiful and willing woman. oh, if I had taken its warning and turned back. now I live with the consequences of a foolish decision for the rest of my life. take heed, all men. she can lead you into a place of instant fun that turns into a lifetime of regret.
  • Bruce Wayne on Proverbs 7 - 7 years ago
This entire chapter is about knowing the Word of God, keeping his 10 Commandments and the apostate church which leads to hell...many. If you know the Word of God, keep his 10 Commandments then these things will keep you from the strange woman (church).

I found many references in God's Word that tells us God is both male and female.Gen1:26"make man in our image,(mankind includes women)according to our likeness let THEM(caps added)have dominion.."The "them" is the 1st two humans that God made,Adam and Eve.Deuteronomy6:4 (is both male and female)Wisdom is GodProverbs 7:4"Say to wisdom, You are my sister, understanding your kinswoman"God is wisdom.

Holy Father, let America turn from their stocks and embrace You most High God as the day draweth near for the godly to cease in the land! Amen. Proverbs 7:22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks Jeremiah 3:9 And it came to pass through the lightness of her whoredom, that she defiled the land, and committed adultery with stones and with stocks. 10:8 But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. Hosea 4:12 My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.
